Leading Edge Learning ProjectTimescales

December 2014 – Briefing meeting for all interested teaching staff at ISP. Introduced by the Director, Simon Murray and the ISP Principals. Meet the supervising tutors: Phil Whitehead, Erica Holley, Robin McClelland. Outline of the Project; Q and A.

Interested? Talk with other colleagues who might also be interested. Talk with your Learning Leader/ Learning Coordinator (please insert chosen terminology for direct report)

Complete a PROJECT PROPOSAL FORM by the published school deadline and hand in to your Principal.

Notification of bid success or deferral (December 2014/January 2015). Receive a joining pack from ISP/supervising tutors

January 2015 – meet your Leading Edge learner colleagues and the supervising tutors. Face to face 1 – tutorials and seminars.

Learning Project commences

1 Skype interview with tutor (1 hour max); 1 hour equivalent email write/follow up from tutor

March 2015 – face to face 2 as above; follow up Skype and email

May/June 2015 Face to face 3;

June-September – analysis of project outcomes; preparation of report, exhibition, presentation/ publication; Skype + email support from tutor

October/November 2015 dissemination

December 2015 – ongoing monitoring of outcomes, support to new Leading Edge cohort

Project Brief Notes

1. Projects must be focused on outcomes for student learning

2. Project submissions must consider the anticipated change and what difference the project could make to students’ learning, that is – IMPACT

3. Projects, (where possible for Cohort 1, 2014-15), should be aligned to published school improvement priorities

4. Projects should have a strong element of innovation, creativity and imagination

5. Projects should consider the potential impact on teacher learning and practice

6. Projects should address the issue of dissemination and impact at least internally: internal – team/dept (minimum); internal – whole school (desirable). This should be through presentation & short paper, e.g. for publication in The Tribune

7. Projects should also consider the potential, with support if required, for external dissemination through conference presentation and article publication

8. Project submissions should include a short budget outline within the published parameters

9. Project submissions should refer to discussions with colleagues and the support of learning leaders or a relevant member of the SLT

10. Projects should be submitted on a Project Proposal Form and submitted by the published deadline

Leading Edge Learning ProjectSupervising Tutor Role & Deliverables

To hold face to face, Skype and email meetings with the Lead Tutor, Phil Whitehead, ISP participants, school leaders and the Director:

To support Phil in the preparation of schedules, resources and ideas in order to plan and deliver the Project towards an agreed outcome. Outcomes must be suitable for dissemination within ISP. Tutors will encourage participants to aim for high quality outcomes of external educational interest.

To be fully prepared to brief and support participating teachers and Learning Leaders at ISP during each point of contact – face to face, Skype and email. Tutors are expected to supervise 3 projects each. This might mean working with 3 individuals or with 3 groups of teachers.

To attend a briefing meeting in Paris in December 2015 at the invitation of the Director (one day travel, meeting, overnight stay in hotel close to ISP)

To attend 3 face to face meetings with participants between January and June/September 2015 in Paris; approximately 9 hours contact time each visit in tutorials, seminars and meetings; all travel, subsistence and 2 nights in a hotel close to the school provided by ISP.

To follow up each visit with Skype (1 hour per project) and email conversations (1 hour per project)

To attend a final presentation/exhibition at ISP over one day in Autumn 2015

All agreed travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses will be met by ISP. Tutors will receive an agreed Project Fee. Expenses and Fees will be paid by ISP in equal instalments immediately after each face to face visit.

The total fee per supervising tutor will be £TBC An additional lead & admin fee for PW Ltd will be £TBC
