Leading CPD for Enterprise and
Entrepreneurship
The focus on enterprise and entrepreneurship
across the Aldridge schools has created a need to
develop a comprehensive CPD offer for staff that
supports the aspirations of Aldridge Education in
equipping all pupils with enterprise skills and
entrepreneurial experiences.
The focus of the training is two-fold:
• To support Aldridge teaching staff in developing
the comprehensive knowledge and skills to
integrate enterprise skills into teaching and
learning
• To support professional staff within the Aldridge
schools and Aldridge Education (MAT) to build
and lead entrepreneurial schools
Core modules – are mandatory for all members of
staff at the school to complete. They underpin the
running of the school and inform teaching and
learning activities. They also ensure a level of
consistency across the MAT in how the six Aldridge
attributes are embedded
Running across every Aldridge school the training
could consist of ‘core’ and ‘optional’ modules:
Core modules:
• Mandatory for ALL staff;
• Underpin the running of the school;
• Inform teaching and learning activities;
• Result in a level of consistency across the MAT in
regard to how the six Aldridge attributes are
embedded in everything that we do.
Optional modules:
• Designed to further a learners’ understanding of:
enterprise, entrepreneurship and the six Aldridge
attributes;
• Used to guide learners through a pathway as either
a teaching or professional services member of
staff.
Within the Optional modules there
are three possible routes which
could lead to accreditation:
• Teaching Staff
• Team Academy
• Leading an Enterprise and
Entrepreneurial school
The CPD pilot will launch with a cross-
academy cohort of colleagues who will
work in clusters from January 2019.
Recruited at the discretion of the principal.
This initial cohort will work with the
Aldridge Institute to co-construct and
shape the programme of learning.
The CPD programme will be
collaboratively designed with staff in a
developmental way of working which
reflects the Aldridge attributes.
Team Academy will run as a
pilot in PACA and will be
developed further in DACA
in 2019.
The Delivery Team: The design, delivery and evaluation of the training will be led by the Aldridge Institute (based at UWE, Bristol) under the leadership of Professor Gurpreet Jagpal. An executive education/CPD steering group has recently been created, chaired by Professor Gurpreet Jagpal and consisting of: • Lauren Davies, Lecturer in Enterprise and
Entrepreneurship (UWE) • Alison Fletcher, Director (Team Akatemia) • Beki Martin, Director of Enterprise and
Entrepreneurship • Rachel O’Halleron, Deputy Director of Education
Task:
On tables discuss where you have
experienced effective training (CPD)
programmes and identify the areas of
commonality.
TAMLA: A model
Consistency:
The variability between schools in
most Western countries is far
smaller than the variability within
schools, or, more simply, that it
matters much more which
classroom you go to than which
school.
Given the focus on enterprise and
entrepreneurship across the Aldridge schools there
is a need to develop a comprehensive executive
The focus of the training is two-fold:
To support Aldridge teaching staff in developing the
comprehensive knowledge and skills to lead on the
delivery of enterprise and entrepreneurial learning,
and
To support professional staff within the Aldridge
schools and Aldridge Education (MAT) to build and
lead entrepreneurial schools
Core Modules:
• Enterprise Education Landscape
• Embedding the Aldridge Attributes
• Delivering effective enterprise education
Task:
What are the essential elements we need to
include in the Core Programme in order that
we have a consistent approach to teaching
and learning across the Aldridge MAT?
Leadership Training:
• The Entrepreneurial School
Concept
• Building an Entrepreneurial
School
• Leading a Entrepreneurial School
What components would a training
programme for Aldridge Leaders
contain and how can we learn from
one another?
Next steps:
• In schools SE w/c 3.12.18
• Recruit pilot cohort group in
consultation with principals
• Proposal for the Core module
CPD programme to be shared
with principals
• Optional modules developed
• Forums – opportunity for input
and feedback
