Our aluminium sectionscan be thermally broken and powder coated in virtually anycolour in our in-house powder coating facility, one of thelargest and most technically advanced in the country.

Tynecastle School plays a pivotal role of delivering educational needs to the Gorgie district of Edinburgh and has since 1912. The achievement of a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ accreditation was primarilythrough the implementation of core sustainable ideals by using naturaland recycled materials, energy saving and environmentaltechnologies. Noise pollution from adjacent roads and railway linestogether with solar orientation and level access were main factors ofconsideration when developing the building layout and optimisingfunctional arrangements, to combine both old and new schools.

This 24-hour megastore, built on stilts, was one of the mostcomplex construction projects ever for Barr Construction.Constructed over an eight metre void at a disused railway line, the store and adjacent concessions were elevated toaccommodate a 500 space underground car park. Investment in the area has provided welcome employment and it is hopedfurther regeneration will follow.

Wallace High School, founded in 1971, recently expanded into newbuildings on Airthrey Road, which provides excellent educationalfacilities in a light, bright environment to facilitate learning in optimumsurroundings. This was provided by using high performance curtainwalling and large windows by Senior Architectural Systems with solarshading. All classrooms are well equipped and there is a high level ofIT resources, to serve the local community.

OverviewThe Hybrid family consists of the Series 1 range of traditionalcomposite windows and doors, Series 2 comprising acontemporary collection of commercial slimline windows andSeries 3 composite curtain wall system.

Hybrid combines the advantage of the long life and lowmaintenance of aluminium externally with all the benefits ofengineered timber internally. The product is designed andmanufactured within the UK, and is fabricated by an approvednetwork of UK companies. The range meets and exceeds allcurrent standards, making it an ideal solution for both new-buildand refurbishment projects where site measurement is required.

Hybrid features either natural or painted timber internally.Externally, Hybrid offers a choice of finishes in polyester powderpaint - virtually any RAL colour in either gloss, satin or matt. An anodised external finish is also available.

An innovative concept by Glasgow Housing Association inconjunction with PRP Architects to build four prototype houses to help reduce fuel poverty and lower the cost of living for theirtenants was the starting point for the Glasgow House whichfeatures high standards of insulation, coupled with low energyrunning costs and simple technology. Windows and sun roomswere designed using Senior’s Hybrid high performance timbercomposite curtain walling and doors to capture the energy of thesun, with details to prevent overheating.

The Venture Building was designed and constructed to an‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating and provides flexible open plan andlaboratory accommodation with a stunning three storey atrium with feature bridge link. Designed to be naturally ventilated inaccordance with CIBSE guidelines with generous floor to ceilingheights, it uses Senior Architectural Systems’ Hybrid timbercomposite windows and curtain walling, giving a contemporary,well designed and airy feel.

A contemporary new build extension to a 1930’s traditional house,using Senior Architectural Systems’ Hybrid range of timbercomposite systems, ensured a successful way of bringing theinternal accommodation into the wonderfully idyllic setting of amature well-stocked garden. A full height glass curtain walledgable end maximised the available light, space and view, togetherwith doors onto the patio area for entertaining or relaxing.

The new golf clubhouse, caddy store and professional shop werebuilt to replace the previous one which was destroyed by fire. Itwas designed as a single storey low rise linear building to minimiseits visual impact on the landscape. It features a glazed entrancefoyer using Senior Architectural Systems Hybrid timber compositecurtain walling with direct views through the lounge to the first holeand beyond.

The £12million, 6,300m2 Primary Care Centre for NHS Lothianprovides extensive accommodation for three GP practices, alongwith paediatric and adult outpatients services and a number ofclinical and dental facilities. Incorporating Senior’s thermallyefficient Hybrid curtain wall, reversible casement windows for ease of maintenance and SD doors, the Hybrid system met theaesthetic and performance requirements demanded by thearchitect achieving a BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating.
