1. ADITYA PURI has been the MD of HDFC bank since September1994 & was spotted by HDFC Chairman Deepak Parekh.

2. The 50 yrs learned Aditya Puri is a chartered accountant from ICAI.

3. His banking experience has rolled over to 26 yrs in INDIA as well as abroad.

4. With the developed efforts of Aditya Puri, HDFC has today become technology driven attracting 1.2 million customers which is India’s largest privately owned bank.

1) HDFC BANK ie housing Development Finance Corporation was formd on 30th August 1994 & received commencement on 10th october 1994 from RBI.

2) HDFC is the largest mobilisers of retail deposits with 20 branches and credit deposit ratio of 53.8%.

3) The bank has tied up with financial portals, e-brokerages & national stock exchange to enable broker payments for e-broking ventures.

4) In 2007 , HDFC bank has signed an agreement with TATA pipes to offer credit facility to farmers across the country.

1. HDFC Bank is the country’s biggest private sector bank, while SBI is the largest public-sector bank.

2. HDFC Bank has advanced at a furious pace, using retail banking as its main platform for growth, SBI continues to plod on doing business in the old-fashioned way – slowly and steadily.

3. SBI, however, reports better margins than HDFC Bank primarily because of its higher share of low-cost deposits (39 per cent in FY09 against 29 per cent for HDFC Bank) in the past.

1. the credit crisis has dealt a blow to ICICI Bank’s operations. While advances – thanks to a higher proportion of retail and unsecured loans – shrank by 3.2 per cent in FY09, gross non-performing assets also climbed to an alarming 4.5 per cent of advances.

2. Net profit growth has also been either flat or negative in the past four quarters; on the other hand, HDFC Bank has grown by more than 30 per cent in the same period.

3. Currently, analysts peg the value of ICICI Bank’s insurance business at around Rs 100 per share, equivalent to 19 per cent to its fair value. The bank currently holds a 74 per cent stake
