If so, then we have an opportunity for service. We need several students to help us with recreation at Preteen Camp. No price change again this year! Growing a Small-Group Ministry The first thing to be resolved is how the church views small-group ministry. If the ministry is organizational, it will be based upon programs and events. If it is an organism, it will be based upon body-life and health essentials. Most small-group ministry today is organizational, but what does the Bible teach? Small groups are organic, and as such, they are the organism that grows a healthy body. According to “The Open Door Website,” (www.knockonthedoor.com) there are seven characteristics that define an organism: FEEDING - All living organisms need substances from their environment to obtain energy, grow, and stay healthy. MOVEMENT - All living organisms show movement of one kind or another (internal and external). BREATHING/RESPIRATION - All living things exchange gases with their environment. EXCRETION - Excretion is the removal of waste from the body. If this waste was allowed to remain in the body, it could be poisonous. All living things need to eliminate waste from their bodies. GROWTH - When living things feed, they gain energy. Some of this energy is used in growth. Living things become larger and more complicated as they grow. SENSITIVITY - Living things react to changes around them, such as touch, light, heat, cold, and sound. REPRODUCTION - All living things produce young. Sound similar to the church? What is she called to be? We are filling our media library with resources such as these to help your church grow healthy and fruitful. Come check out your resource center and all it has to offer! Or go to: http://www.teba.org/ teba/in_our_library_ Small-Group Kickoff Retreat - Leadership Training In the March 15 th Pastor’s Conference the churches of the Association will decide how we operate in the coming years.
