# Long tail

“A creator, such as an artist, musician, photographer, craftsperson, performer, animator, designer, videomaker, or author – in other words, anyone producing works of art – needs to acquire only 1,000 True Fans to make a living.” - Kevin Kelly

2. The rewards

WIN - WIN

You are working directly with your audience, no middle man’s

ExclusiveIt’s a great opportunity to offer extra material that otherwise is usually left in the drawer and forgotten about.

Concerts in your living room, romantic dinner with your favorite singer, being an extra in a movie, a portrait of your girlfriend made by your favorite comic artist

You can offer the same cultural product at the same price of even cheaper than it could be found in shops

Both Creator, raises the money, and Audience, can acquire the same at a fair price, end up winning

3. The promotion

* Being close and honest

* Use your existing networks and usual communication channels

* Key blogs, forums, actors in your field talking about your campaign* Identify and get support from hubs. Contact friends, colleagues, organizations well connected and followed by your target audience.* Start with your inner circle (true fans), and grow from there

* An online article is much more effective than in printed press/tv.

* Open new profiles in social networks to promote the campaign* Invest a lot of time trying to reach the mass media, televisions... * Traditional marqueting, payed ads...

* Waiting for people to come

In order to receive, first you have to give: Start a blog, share your music, help others...

A FEW TIPS TO HELP YOU CALCULATE YOUR FUNDING GOAL• Costs of what you want to fund• El 5% for verkami services plus bank fees (1,35%)• Extra costs derived from the rewards (materials, shipping

expenses...)• Make an estimation of how many people you will need to cover

this goal. (The most common pledge level is 25€, and the average is about 35€ for most of the campaigns. Divide the goal by 35€ to have an idea of how many backers you will need).

A FEW TIPS TO HELP YOU SET YOUR REWARDS• Remember win-win• Add thinks that might have symbolic value for your backers (they

are free and add value to the rewards)• Have rewards for every budget, and for all ‘level’ of fans• 5-6 rewards are enough for the experience
