Golden Time
Golden Time is a highly acclaimed, tried and tested positive
behaviour management system, which involves a weekly school
celebration for all the children who have kept to the Golden
Rules. Up to an hour is set aside during which every child that
has suceeded in adhering to the Golden Rules enjoys very special,
exciting activities. Children in early years or special needs settings
and main-stream children who have little self-control are given
short daily targeted sessions instead.
Golden Incentives are rewards that uphold the Golden Rules and
are shared by the whole school community. The rewards are
very specifi c so every child can be noticed and appreciated, thus
building self-esteem.

“Jenny Mosley’s messages are very much in
line with our long-held beliefs … inclusion
is only a meaningful concept if it is felt by
the child.”
Dr Ted Cole, Director of SEBDA, (Social
and Emotional and Behavioural Diffi culties
Association)
Some children sometimes seem ‘beyond’ all the sound ethos
and behaviour strategies you may have put in place, but not
beyond hope or help! They cannot keep all the golden rules all
day – they need to practise for 5 minutes a day. They also need
to practise, in a very small group, with a few good peer role
models. Our resources offer extra strategies and demonstrate
how to be proactive by preventing classroom disruption,
how to support children’s social, emotional or behavioural needs
and ways to be clear about what you can or cannot achieve.

Winner of the practical pre-school and good toy award
wittern by Carol Holliday and Jo Browning Wroe.
This innovative and unique understanding children’s
emotions in the context of the classroom refl ects
the signifi cant developments in this fi eld since the
original was fi rst published in 2004, and the greater
understanding that now exists of the importance of
social, emotional and relational aspects of learning.
2. What’s Got Into You?
Developed by the authors of Forest of Feelings, this fantastic game will help children aged
7+ to explore their emotions and learn skills and qualities that promote positive behaviour.
Through discussion and participation in a range of energetic activities, children will learn
to recognise and manage strong emotions, such as anger, fear, sadness and jealousy, in
themselves and others. They will also learn, through role play, discussion and observation,
that diffi cult behaviour has its roots in emotional distress. This understanding can lead to
more effective behaviour management and productive learning. Contains a spinner, a dice,
90 scenario cards, 30 help cards, 6 tokens and teacher’s notes. Age Suitability: 7 Years +

that often crop up with your pupils? If the answer is yes, then Stories with a
Message are ideal for you.
Each of the photocopiable stories in these resources broaches challenging
subjects often faced by today’s children, from bullying to bereavement, in a

Accompanying photocopiable question sheets encourage further thought
and discussion about the topics covered in each story, whilst avoiding any
negative or confrontational reactions that can sometimes be expected when
raising these matters.
Stories with a Message are fl exible and can be used on an individual, group

from a ten-minute slot to a whole lesson. Stories can be used pre-emptively

The book includes recent fi ndings from research
interviews with teachers about what works with teacher/
child relationships and how different ways of working
can lead to more confi dence and satisfaction; and less
anxiety and stress.
The beautifully illustrated and enchanting story about
Ben’s quest to save a forest is now supported by an
expanded Introduction on emotional wellbeing, together
with additional material in each of the sections focused
on a different tribe of emotions: angry, sad, fearful,
jealous and happy feelings. Each of these sections
now offers a deeper and broader understanding of the
nature of these feelings and how to work with them
through additional teacher’s notes and creative activities,
together with activities for circle time. 108 pages. Winner

This fantastic new photocopiable activity book is
designed to help children to discover, understand and
recognise emotions. Some children fi nd these skills very
diffi cult, and because they struggle to read the emotional
clues available they may not react appropriately to
people or events. Equipping all children with emotional
literacy skills enables them to feel more comfortable
and confi dent in social situations and helps them to
recognise and modify their own emotional responses.
The book progresses from the basic skill of facial
expression recognition through to exploring emotions
within a variety of situations, understanding how and
why emotions can change and predicting emotional
responses. Comprehensive teacher’s notes offer detailed
instructions for each activity, prompt questions and
further activity ideas. The beautifully illustrated activity
sheets are suitable for all ages and include drawing, cut
and paste and discussion-based tasks. Contains 48 A4
pages.

1. Nurturing Success
This book has been written to help those children for whom school is a deeply
unhappy experience. Nurturing Success is the story of the author’s desire to
help such children in her school by setting up a nurture group. It is a story
full of compassion and warmth for the children she works with. However, it
is much more than just a story. The benefi t of this book is that it will provide
you with all you need to establish a nurture group in your school. It includes
sections on how to:

2. Sharing Books for Social and Emotional Understanding
Stories are a powerful means to explore dilemmas and
issues that children encounter every day. In this insightful
book, the authors take 21 of our most-loved and best-
known picture books and look at how to share them
effectively with children.
Each picture book covered has two sections of
guidance: one to be used at school and a second to
be photocopied and used in a home environment.
Both sections contain a story outline, talking points and
ideas for activities. In addition, the classroom sections
include circle time ideas, motions for class debates and
assembly suggestions. These sections can be used for
small group work and one-to-one activities.
This innovative book explores such themes as self-
awareness, managing feelings, motivation, empathy
and social skills, and will in turn address issues such
as bullying, loss, inclusion, missing mum and general
behaviour. Contains 112 A4 pages.
EGMT10009 £ 19.95
3. Helping Children Deal With Anger
Anger is a natural response to circumstances that we
fi nd ourselves in. However, it can lead to unacceptable
and damaging behaviour. Helping Children Deal with
Anger gives you a programme of fi fteen sessions to
teach primary-age children to express anger responsibly,
safely and in a controlled way. The activities will help
children to recognise anger; investigate strategies to
defuse anger before it explodes, and help children to
understand that they are responsible for their behaviour
and can control their actions. Contains 48 A4 pages.
EGMT10014 £ 11.95
4. Helping Children Deal With Conflict
How often do you deal with confl ict with the children you
work with? How many times are your plans for a lesson
hindered by a playtime incident that needs resolving?
Teaching children how to cope with confl ict effectively
will be benefi cial to their personal development and
education, and to your ability to teach. Helping Children
Deal with Confl ict includes a teaching programme of
eighteen sessions that will help you to teach children
to explore, practise and develop the skills needed for
successful confl ict resolution. There are a range of
games and activities to develop thoughtfulness, self-
awareness and co-operation. Lastly, there are resources
on how to support children who often fi nd themselves
involved in confl ict. Contains 48 A4 pages.
EGMT10015 £ 11.95
5. Helping Children Deal With Bullying
Bullying is an issue that all schools need to address to
develop a safe-school ethos. Research has shown that
an effective and organised approach can dramatically
reduce both the frequency and impact of bullying.
In this book, the authors show you how to create an
effective anti-bullying policy for a primary school based
on a fi ve-strand approach. This whole-school approach
guides you through the essential systems that you need
to have in place to make sure that your school is tackling
bullying. It is these systems that will enable children to
grow in confi dence and develop a clearer understanding
of their behaviour and its impact on others. Contains 48

children think before they act in diffi cult situations, as
well as promoting good social behaviour. There are 65
cards depicting 6 different scenarios, plus 10 help cards.

to parents arguing, 2 children witnessing violence at
a bus stop, the possible kidnapping of a child at an

children and a child on skates knocking over an elderly
woman. Children turn over the starting card and are then
given a choice of 2 direction cards which the story can
