May, who is Japanese and Swiss, studies biology at the University of Zurich and is currently preparing for her ERASMUS stay in Barcelona. After growing up in Japan and spending High School in Canada, she decided to study in Zurich where she joined AIESEC and soon became OCP Kick-Off 2011.

May realized that the chance to take on responsibility to organize a conference wouldn’t usually be offered this easily to her.

What she enjoyed most about it was

working with her team. Even though she had some trouble with delegating in the beginning, she got to know her team very well and in the end, she was very touched when they took care of her at the conference by letting her have some extra sleep or making her eat.

Whoever is the next OCP Kick-Off 2012, May definitely recommends it:

“I have never learned so much in 6 months. It is a lot to do but definitely worth it, and you will have amazing memories with your team as well!”

First LCM: 14.09.2011

Let’s start into the new semester with a friendly get-together LCM where you can catch up with your fellow AIESECers. Traditionally, we’ll have our first LCM, the week before Uni starts.

Events

• Impact! got introduced in the LC Zurich last year by our current LCP

Patrick Mann who was OCP of this project. • The project is about giving workshops to High School students about

global issues like globalization and intercultural communication. • The workshops are given by Interns who are coming as a DTs to Zurich.

Leadership & Commitment

„Nothing is easier than saying words. Nothing is harder than

living them day after day." - Arthur Gordon

• Similar projects have been realized in South America before. • Unfortunately, the project couldn’t be realized in our LC last year because the schools were

contacted too late. However, the majority of contacted high schools is highly interested in the project and would like to realize it during spring 2012.

• The position of OCP Impact! 2012 is going to be opened for application from next week on! If you want to learn more about this project, please don’t hesitate to contact our LCP Patrick.

We are very much looking forward to finding an OCP who takes care of this very interesting project.

FINAL WORDS

Ardiana’s experience at the Anatolia Congress in Istanbul (23.-26.07.2011)

Ardiana was actually looking forward to spending her summer on an internship, when she discovered the opportunity to attend an international AIESEC conference. When she heard about the Anatolia Congress, she didn’t want to miss out the chance to go to Istanbul, the place which connects continents, people and cultures and to get to know AIESECers from all over the world. It was amazing for her to see people from different cultural backgrounds hanging out together, discussing global issues and trying to find solutions to overcome them. Furthermore, the “AIESEC spirit” created a fantastic atmosphere and let her realize how great it is to be part of such a dynamic organization and to take on more responsibility by herself. Being surrounded by the Turkish culture, she suddenly realized how different this was to Turkish people in Switzerland. She experienced these people from a very helpful and relaxed side. The relaxed and sometimes a little bit unorganized part, seemed funny to her, especially during the study tour when she found herself wondering how things worked out in the end.

All in all, Ardiana definitely recommends joining an international conference because of the chance to meet interesting people, who you might not meet otherwise and who you get to know very well in this short time, and because of the opportunity to see cultural differences from another point of view which makes you think more about yourself, your culture and your prejudices.

„I had a lot of fun, talking to international AIESECers

about their culture and their way of thinking, spending time with such interesting

people and last but not least partying with them.“
