SLumisol CLEAR - Polytunnel CoverClear Polythene (non-diffusing) - Due to its clarity, clear polythene allows around 2% more light to pass through than a diffused polythene film. Although diffused films have several advantages over clear films, if the extra light is more beneficial to your crop (or geographical latitude) then Lumisol clear polythene could be the right choice.

UV Absorption - This new generation film combines all the benefits of Luminal (great thermic & light transmission properties), but unlike normal greenhouse films that prevent short wavelength UV light (UVB) from reaching plants, this UV transparent film allows UVB to enter the greenhouse thus enhancing the fragrance, taste & colour of the crops. Diffusion- Light diffusing polythene films scatter the light as it passes through. This enables the light to penetrate deep in to the plant canopy, as it hits the plant from all angles, not just directly from above. This diffused light prevents the higher foliage from shading the lower parts of the plant.

Diffusion films allow more of the available light in to a polytunnel when the sun is low in the sky (which can be early or late in the day, and also during the short days of winter). This is because the scattered light is deflected downwards in to the crop, rather than reflected as happens with glass and clear polythene.

Lumisol Diffused can reduce midday summertime temperatures by 2-4OC, although approx 2% of light transmission will be lost.

Anti-Hot Spot Tape Anti-Hot Spot Repair TapePlace on the hoop of a tunnel prior to the polythene sheet being fitted.

Acts as an insulation between the metal and polythene. Prevents the build up of damaging hotspots and can prolong the life of a polythene sheet by at least a year.

Approx. 1 roll per hoop.

High tack adhesive tape used to cover existing anti hotspot tape.

New covers should never be installed over old or damaged anti-hot spot tape.

Old tape may have breaks in the foam or in the polyester facing which may damage your new polythene cover.

When anti-hotspot tape is difficult to remove, cover the existing tape with anti-hotspot repair tape.

SLiquid Shading AgentsQ4 White (Moderate Shade)After several years of testing in Europe, the new Q4 White is now commercially available. Q4 White is a liquid shading agent which is an alternative and competitor to the longer established Redusol.

Q4 White is applied in exactly the same way as Redusol, with similar dosage and application rates, and to keep things simple, the cleaning agent (Q4 White remover) is also applied at the same rates as Reduclean (1:7). In tests over the past few years, Q4 White has shown to be more durable than its competitors, especially on the apex of a roof which is prone to wearing off more quickly. As a result second applications have not been necessary.

Coverage: For 60% shade apply 1ltr concentrate per 40m2 (600m2 from 1 bucket). Suggested application by sprayer to save time.

DPF Black (Heavy Shade)DPF Black is a shading agent with an extra ingredient added to make the product darker. This darker shade is unique, and hence is suitable for crops needing dark conditions (e.g. Phaleanopsis).

Sunclear (Anti-Condensation) Sunclear spray applied to the inside of polythene alters the behaviour of the plastic surface. Droplets are unable to form and the fogging effect is eliminated. Water condenses on the plastic to form a very thin coating which, instead of remaining in position, runs down the curved sheeting to the outside edges of the greenhouse.

Propagation FilmLightweight polythene used for covering propagation beds.

The white film is also used for shading.

Damp-Proof MembraneOtherwise known as Blue Builders Polythene. Made from extruded polyethylene in compliance with UK Building Regulations. This membrane will provide an effective barrier to the passage of water and water vapour from the ground.

Super Cloche HoopsThe LBS Super Cloche is probably the strongest cloche ever made...

It is constructed from aluminium pipe 25.4mm (1) diameter with a 1.5mm wall thickness to BS 2989 standard. Also with foundation stand design, these frames stand very solid and very strong.

The frame can be covered with various coverings including polythene, shade netting, bird protection netting and fleece cover. The system is very strong, simple to use and easy to transport. Designed to give long lasting, low cost protection. For ventilation simply loosen the sheet fixing band and slide the polythene up the side of the frame.

Polythene is UV stabilised for longer life.

Uses: Winter protection of nursery stock, forest nurseries, bedding plants, strawberries, courgettes, dwarf beans, peas, salad crops, cabbage, herbs, flowers and vines. These frames are ideal for use in propagation units.

Cloche Hoops

UV stabilised polythene cloche film. Provides maximum crop protection on outdoor strawberries, lettuce, beans etc.

A very economical way of protecting against late frost, wind and rain. Allows crops to be harvested significantly earlier.

These heavyweight cloche hoops are made from tensile steel wire which will not rust. They have an integrated eye within the wire for attaching twine when fastening the cloche covers down.

Hoops are available in 2 sizes to make either a 30 (75cm) or a 36 (90cm) wide hoop - see diagram below.

We suggest you space each hoop approx 60-90cm a part (2-3ft) and use a wooden stake at each end of the cloche to knot your cover around.

Mulch films can be used for the following applications: Corn-starch based weed control film - from renewable resources.

Completely bio-degrades when in contact with moisture and soil micro organisms which is finally transformed into water and carbon dioxide. No polution and no residues left in the soil. Mulching capability depends on time, temperature and soil activity, but UK is approx 10-16 weeks.

After harvesting, the remaining film is ploughed back into the soil where the bio-degradation process is completed.

Floraplus is more suited to indoor cultivation where the lower water holding capacity can be balanced with more frequent watering, thus ensuring that plants receive just the right amount of water.

Ideal on benches and on the floor. Also suitable for outside cultivation where summer watering can be increased but where overwatering during the colder months should be avoided.

Remember, the duration of watering has the greatest influence on the pots take-up of water. The water holding capacity of the capillary matting determines how long plants are sat in water after the irrigation cycle.

Root BarrierIn paved areas, roads, lawns, patios or building foundations, damage by tree or plant roots can prove to be an expensive problem. DuPont Root Barrier is a technically advanced fabric which prevents and contains invasive growth.

Controlling invasive plants, such as bamboo and hypericum, in a park, garden or civic amenity as most landscapers will know, is almost an impossibility. Root Barrier is a chemically inert, strong, smooth-lined, spun material which will contain rampant root growth without damaging the plants and without harming the surrounding materials.

Root Barrier is impervious to water and must be installed vertically to encourage the roots to grow downwards. This effectively controls the roots but, at the same time, it also protects the roots from pollutants and acids in the soil.

Easy to use, DuPont Root barrier requires little preparation and once installed can be left maintenance free for many years.
