My colleague illustrated this phenomenon to me last week. He took a picture and asked me to copy it in a piece of paper. Again the next task was to keep the picture upside down and copy it. Compare the two pictures at the end. It can be seen that the second picture is the better of two. The reason being when we are trying to copy the first picture, our left brain works and it analyzes the picture logically. Ok, this is eyes, mouth and things like this.

When we keep the picture upside down, the right side of the brain spans in to action. Yes, when I traced back my thoughts, the same thing had happened to me also. When I was drawing the first picture, I was thinking something like eyes finished, now nose, now mouth etc. I was planning and finishing the picture. When the picture was turned upside down and I

was copying, my mind was blank and I was simply copying the curves. And it came out better. Pretty interesting. Query in Google fetched me this picture which explains the brain functioning. Now I need to check how to stimulate the right side of the brain.

A Drawing Experience

Kadugodi Bus StopWhitefield : Since the Railway Overbridge at Kadugodi will be completed soon, people in the surrounding areas think that it will wise to extend the Volvo bus services. Many residential layouts are coming up near Safal Market and so Safal Market can be considered a landmark for bus stops. The Kadugodi bus stand can be relocated somewhere close to Safal Market. The land prices are definitely cheaper here as compared to the existing bus stand location.

Ruling Govt. Bears the Wrath by Increasing Taxes Hubli: The owners of earth escavation machinery in Hubli protested against the government since the government has increased the tax from Rs.1.05 lakhs to Rs.2.20 lakhs. The members of Earth Movers Association claim that the Government was doing injustice to them by making huge hike in the life tax.

In another incident in Mysore, more than 500 daily wagers from various departments, including the Forest Department, took out a rally in the main streets shouting slogans against the government for delay in revising wages, besides early sett lements of back wages.

In Hubli, members of Christian association took out a procession in the city protesting the alleged atrocities on them and attacks on the churches in various parts of the country.

A Message Circulating through SMS“China may prepare for war against India due to weak Indian politics, army silently occupied more than 32 km hill station of Indian border. Its 13 satellites clearly focus on all activities of Indian army. Pakistan also increasing their army in Indian border. Sri Lanka officially gave 2 army airports to China on 6th Sep 2009. Soon India is going to face a 3 side attack. India is unsafe. Spread awareness. Please send it to at least one before you delete.”

MIND WORKS-31Are you an interesting or an irritating person?

By UK Athikkal-----------When you meet a group of familiar people, observe the responses on their faces. Are they giving you a cheerful and pleasant look? Do you notice them with friendliness and interest. What is your own disposition most of the times? Do you take the first step of friendliness? Giving a pleasant smile

When we look at people, we are in fact looking at a mirror. You get reflections of your own thoughts, beliefs and values. Your thought pattern decides the type of mental frame works you tend to possess at a particular period of time. That in turn decides your physical and facial disposition when you interact with others.

You may come across persons who carry a victim mindset. They may carry an unpleasant disposition. They tend to carry unhealthy temperament with feelings of anger and resentment. They often indulge in woes of self deprecation and tales of injustice meted out to them. They often concentrate on their own subjects and views during their interaction with others. They are probably unaware of the image they create of themselves by such behavior.

Now we can very well find that some of us are found interesting to others and the rest of us may be source of irritation. Each one needs to be aware of the category in they belong. It is then in our best interest to work on our own thinking and behavioral pattern to take self corrections to move from the irritating zone to interesting zone.

In order to make this positive change we may need to explore the areas and zones in our behavioral spectrum to bring in transformations. You need to spend few minutes on a daily basis to evaluate your behavioral actions of the day and identify areas that need modification and improvement.

Basic requirements for the success of self improvement efforts are:?Congruence in your thoughts, feelings and behavior.?Openness to admit own mistakes and willingness to take corrective steps.?Humbleness to appreciate self as the interconnected being which is part and parcel of the universal power of existence.?Flexibility in place of rigidity while facing life and its various facets.

Look at the bigger picture, feel great and work with passion to achieve your goal. This column is contributed by U K Athikkal, a Life Skill Coach and Certified Trainer and Practitioner of N L P. He can be contacted at [email protected]

Comedy: Death at a Funeral

Photo of the Week

"Who is this man?," Aaron (Chris Rock) asks when a casket arrives at his home. The funeral director (Kevin Hart) plays it off as an existential question about Aaron's late father, but literally speaking, he really wants to know -- what is this other corpse doing at D a d d y ' s f u n e r a l ?

This is how opens. This is also how it opened in 2007, and when one wonders who is this man that would turn in an almost identical remake with an almost all-black cast in such short order, they'd be talking about Neil LaBute. He of the underrated Nurse Betty (co-starring Rock) and the overwhelming Wicker Man remake, LaBute once was (and still is, I suppose) a provocative playwright

Death at a Funeral

and filmmaker who must have entered into some prankster pact alongside the increasingly eccentric James Franco, a deal to set aside his infamous misanthropic tendencies and churn out a broad comedy as likely to earn chuckles as it does groans.

Weddings and funerals are the most socially challenging rituals of modern civilization. Disparate members of disparate families, often with little or nothing in common, are forced to gather under the same roof and act civilized. Both events often result in barbaric behavior that would make Attila the Hun look like Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. “Death at a Funeral” succeeds when it suggests the absurdity of such a ritual. It is, after all, a farce – the very meaning of farce suggests an overdone absurdity. Manned by more comics than actual actors, it is nothing if not overdone.

While some will write it off, it must be said that it is better t han expec ted f rom the Hollywood remake of the British comedy released three years ago.

The First Mayor for Bangalore Soon!!Bangalore: Mayor and Deputy mayor cand idates for Banga lore are announced. They are K. Chandrasekar, M. Nagaraj, M. Uday Shankar, and Manjunath Reddy. The BJP is reviewing the candidates for the mayor and deputy mayor posts and will come out with before the election on April 23. Divisional Commissioner of Bangalore is the election officer for the mayoral election.

India: A couple of years ago, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) indicated that ISRO's style of function was weird. Isro procured components through single tendering without competion. There used to be no transparency in the expenditure. Space ministry and top officials of ISRO are accountable to the money spent. There might have been successful ventures by ISRO but the question is how the steps taken by ISRO impact Indian economy. The people are unaware of why ISRP has to spend so much money and for what.

ISRO's objectives are not yet clear to the Indian public. India is not an elite country to spend money on space mission and boast off the achievements. India begs millions of dollars to fund Polio

Vacination Program in India. The recent UN reports say many Indians have mobiles but no healthy toilets. It is shameful. India leads the world in 'Poorest' sanitatised nation in the world, about 600 million people defecate in open everyday which is shame for not just India but also the Earth. Why can't more money be spent on improving sanitation rather than discovering water on moon?

The ISRO received a huge setback, as the indigeneously designed GSLV-D3 failed in its third

thstage of launch on 15 April 2010. The higher officials and scientists attribute the failure to learning experiences. But at the cost of what? Rs. 330 crore?

Suspicion Prevails Over ISRO

India: India beat their arch rivals Pakistan by a huge margin 58-24 to win the first edition of the Kabaddi World Cup. The jam-packed floodlit Guru Nanak Stadium witnessed the first Kabbadi World Cup. A trophy and a cheque for Rs. 1 crore was handed over to the Indian team. Nine international teams from countries like Pakistan, US, Great Britain, Canada, Iran, Itally and Australia participated in this tournament. Indian captain Mangat Singh Mangi was declared the best stopper and Canadian Kuljit Singh Malsihan was adjudged the best raider. Both were awarded a tractor each. The Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal announced that all the Indian players would get a state government job. The speciality of this world cup kabbadi is that many players of punjabi origin represented many teams like Canada, USA, Germany and others.

The format of the game is pretty decent compared to the traditional kabadi played in the southern states. The game displays a spacial talent without injury. The players

are expected to have a good physique that suits wrestling, presence of mind and running skills. Many countries show interest in the game and India is certainly capable of doing well in this game. The Punjab State government is planning to construct international stadiums to conduct matches.

Kabadi Kabadi! Balle Balle! Chakde India: India Lift Kabaddi World Cup 2010

India won 1 crore cash Prize. Runer up team Pakistan won 51 Lakh Rs. Third Position team in the Kabaddi World Cup was Canada that won 25 Lakh Rs. and 4th Position team Italy won 10 Lakh Rs cash Prize. The Best Stopper award went to Indian Captain Mangat Singh Mangi and the Best Rider award went to Canadian Player Kuljit Singh Malsihan. They win Tractors.

Historic 2011 census begins in KarnatakaBangalore: India Census-2011, the largest ever census project taken up in the world, began in Karnataka with Governor H R Bharadwaj becoming the first person to give the family details.

State Census Commissioner Anil Kumar and B ruhu t Benga lu ru M a h a n a g a r a P a l i k e ( B B M P ) Commissioner Bharat Kumar Meena went to Raj Bhavan to mark the official

beginning of the exercise. The Census would cover the

country's 1.2 billion population and would cost the exchequer an estimated Rs 2,209 crore. This is the 15th census since 1872.
