Preparing for Nationals.Earlier this month I was invited together with the NSW representatives, to Dubbo to participate in training for the ASC National Young Judging Merino Fleece finals to be held in Perth in October. We started our weekend with a public speaking workshop, which I personally found this very helpful in the development of my oral presentation. Following which we practised judging fruit and vegetables, working on our comparing skills, before moving off with industry professionals, to develop our knowledge base and learn the finer skills in our judging profession. I was lucky enough to work with Andrew Mills from MacDonald & Co Woolbroking, which was a phenomenal experience.

I learnt an enormous amount from Andrew, both skills and extra knowledge to assist me at the Young Judging Championships later this year. We looked at a range of skills from learning about uses of different quality fleeces, to how to tell when a ewe lambed from the break in the fibre. On Saturday night we were presented with our NSW team uniform and discovered how much pressure is on our team to win the shield back for NSW. On Sunday we concluded our weekend with a competition in our judging areas to putting into practise, all we had learnt. Overall I am very thankful for the experience the ASC of NSW has given me to prepare for Nationals, it has eased the nerves a little bit, but also made me realise that Nationals is just around the corner!

Applications must be made by a parent or legal guardian if you're under 16 years of age. If you're 16 years or older you need to complete and sign the application form yourself.

Things to keep in mind

• If you don't qualify for free travel to and from school, you can appeal the decision made. You can request a review online. Once you have completed your initial SSTS application you will receive confirmation of whether your application has been successful. If your application was unsuccessful and you feel that one of the special circumstances apply to you, you can request a review by clicking on the ‘Request a review’ link in your application status screen. Alternatively, you can request a review via the SSTS website, using your application ID

• Should your child be assessed as being ineligible through the School Student Transport Scheme your child can still access and travel on our School Services should there be enough seating available and a $2.00 fee per service is paid per trip or journey (price adjustment as of 1st August 2019).

• Once your registration has been processed and deemed eligible your application details will be passed onto the relevant Bus Operator.

• Eligibility is automatically updated for the new school year in most cases, you'll only need to reapply if you're:

o changing name, school and/or address, or o requesting an additional pass as a result of a new shared parental

responsibility situation. o moving from Infants to Primary (stage 1 to stage 2) o moving from Primary to Secondary School (from year 6 to year 7)

Following your application your contact details are then passed onto the relevant School Bus Operator. These details are essential to the operator should there be any

on-service behaviour issues, service delays/changes that may impact your child’s travel or if in the rare event, an accident provide the operator a way of contacting

you. If you have not completed an application the operator does not have access to these details.

The registration process is a highly important process not only assess your child’s eligibility for free travel but to also support and ensure our current School Services

remain available in our area. If the proven demand is not there it is more than likely we will in time, see changes and restrictions in what services are available to our

children in the community.

Should you have any questions or concerns relating to our School Bus Services please feel free to contact us on (02) 63431797 or via email on
