1. Biography

Laura Gallego Garcia is a Spanish writer and she was born on 11 October 1977. She

lives in Alboraya, a town very near Valencia. She has been writing since she was 11,

because she always dreamed of being a writer. That was when she started to work on

her first novel together with a friend. That book was never published.When she was 18, she began studying a Spanish degree at the University of Valencia.

Actually she is working on her thesis about Belianis of Greek, published in 1579.

Finally, at the age of 21, her first novel, Finis Mundi, was published. It was actually her

fourteenth book. Since then, she hasnt stopped writing. She has had over twenty books

published, most of them novels for young adults with a fantasy theme. The trilogy The

Idhun Memories which in Spain alone reached a readership of 100,000 is the best

known. Her work has been translated into several languages, including English, French,

German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese and Korean.

Besides writing, she loves reading, especially fantasy literature and science fiction, and

she tries to keep up-to-date with and continue to discover new authors. Although her

favourite book is still the same as it was over twenty years ago: The Never-ending Story,

by Michael Ende.

She also likes film, manga and some video games, especially role-play and adventure

ones.

2. Important novels

2.1.Finis MundiSynopsis

France. Year 997 A.D. Michel, a Cluniac monk, decides to set off on an impossiblemission. According to the revelations of the hermit Bernardo de Turingia, the end of the

world is nigh and there is only one way to save mankind: invoking the Spirit of Time.

Before that, the three axles supporting the Wheel of Time need to be recovered. Where

are they? Nobody knows.

2.2. Two Candles for the DevilSynopsisCat is a teenager who has spent almost her entire life travelling from one place to

2.4. The Idhuns Memories

This trilogy is her most famous work, so we are to focus on it. The Idhuns Memories

are composed by three novels: theResistance, TriadandPantheon.

2.4.1.Synopsis

The story is set in three worlds: the Earth, Limbhad and Idhun. Idhun has been

conquered by sheks (a kind of big snakes) and szish (snakes with a human body) andthey have killed all dragons and unicorns. So, humans, nymphs, feericos and other

creatures fight in order to save the world.

A dragon and a unicorn are the only ones who have survived, but no one knows where

they are. Jack, Victoria, Alsan and Shail are the chosen ones to save the world.

Although they dont know which is their real role in the story. Furthermore, they have

to defend from a cruel murderer, Kirtash.

The Resistance

The story begins with the conjunction of the three suns and three moons in

Idhun, where Ashram the Necromancer takes the power and sheks, his followers,

dominate the world. A dragon and a unicorn save their lives and a wizard and a warriorchase after them in order to protect the two survivors.

Some years after, the resistance is made up, and Jack, Victoria, Shail and Alsan

take part of it. They have to fight against Kirtash, a murderer who wants to kill every

exiled idhunita.

Triad

Jack, Victoria, Alsan and Shail arrive at Idhun to fulfill the prophecy. However,

they first have to know who they actually are and their importance in the story. Jack and

Victoria, the last dragon and the last unicorn respectively accept their destiny and decide

to defeat Ashram.

Pantheon

War has just begun, but who is going to win this time? Victoria, Jack and

Kirtash, joined now by the love Victoria feel for the two men, fight for save Idhun and

for their own freedom.

Number 3: it has a very important role in The Idhuns memories: three worlds (Idhun,

Limbhad and the Earth), three suns, three moons, three lovers (Jack, Kirtash and

Victoria) and three creatures (dragons, sheks and unicorns).

Number 3 represent a balance, when the three creatures counterbalance each other,

peace is got.

Number 14: Laura Gallego loves this number, her favourite one and because of that all

her books have always 14 chapters.

Jack and Kirtash: they are both sides of the same coin, and among Victoria, the form a

love triangle. They hate each other, but during the story we see how, having two points

in common, Victoria and their destiny, they three defeat Ashram.

Jack is warm, a person who is always next to Victoria and who gives her security,

warmth and affection. He is a kind of old brother for her and he has a strict sense of

duty and moral.

Kirtash is cold and distant, a person who is very difficult to know at all easily. He can

be a cruel murderer or a person who gives his life in order to save his lover, Victoria. He

cant be always next to her, like Jack does, he cant be faithful, but he is capable ofeverything for Victoria, even get on well with Jack, the hateful dragon.
