Screening / Feminism / Film / Revolution Laura Mulvey / Peter Wollen: RIDDLES OF THE SPHINX In recent discussions around feminism in particular, and society, political ideas and activism in general, a group of students and teachers in our academy talked about the possibility to exchange thoughts, texts, film etc. on an irregular basis. Please join for a screening of Laura Mulvey / Peter Wollen, “Riddles of the Sphinx” (1977, 90min.) The film Riddles of the Sphinx (1977) demonstrates, by way of a little everyday story about relationships and labor struggles, feminism and solidarity, a possible synthesis of theory and film language by way of structural experiments. Because of its dialectical montage, its multiple references and reflective links, and its formally stringent, almost prim composition, and not least due to its visual conception, which emphasizes authorship and collective work, it is one of the most important films of the 1970s. Intro Florian Zeyfang. Texts by Pauleit, Mulvey, Wollen, see mail attachments + web links. Schedule: Monday March 26, 16.00 – 18.30h, seminar room.
