How to use ……………

Step 1 First you need to go to face book (www.facebook.com) You should see a page like the one below.

Step 2On that same first page you should see a section titled “Sign Up” just as the

picture below shows you. Here is where you start you social networking adventure. Begin by entering

the required details. You need a email address for this. If you don’t have one I suggest

www.yahoo.com/mail.

Step 2 cont…Your details should look similar to this one below except with your details in it instead of my ones.When you are finished the click sign up button below.

Step 3After clicking sign up (see Step 2) you should see a page with this on it. You need to type in the words, numbers and characters in the box. ( your text will be different to the one below)If you can’t reed it click on “try different works” or click on an “audio captcha”.

Once you are done then click sign up again.

If you did not enter the text correctly then you will go to this page. You will need to re-enter your chosen password and enter another text that is given to you. Then press the sign up button again.If you get it wrong just try it again.

Step 4You should have now been taken to this screen below.You need to go to your email address.In your inbox you should have an email from face book. (Be careful some email providers will put it in you spam box so if it is not in you inbox check your spam.)

Step 4 cont…Your email should look similar to the one below.You need to click on the link

Step 5

When you click on the link it should open another window which should have this on it.It asks you to give Face Book your email password so that you can see who of your friends are on Face Book.I DO NOT recommend this. So just press skip this step

Step 6You will the get a screen like the picture on it. You can enter you high school and university details and the company you work at.

You then need to click save. You can always change the details at a later date.

Step 7You will then go on to this page. You can enter you school name and year to join the network so you can easily find all of your friends from school.

Once you are done click on confirm

Step 8You should now be on this page this is where the fun begins. This page will be the first page you go to when you log on.

“What are you doing right now?” This is where you enter details such as setting up face book page or doing homework. It can be what ever you want.

Profile picture- click on it to upload a picture of your self

Step 9 Now you need to add some detail about you self. Click on “View and edit your profile”

You should be at this page. Add what information you wish to and then click on Save Changes

When you click save changes you will be brought to a page similar things on it as the picture on the left. Feel free to add what ever detail you would like to and then when you are done click on “Save changes” just as you did before.

Step 9 cont…As before you will you be brought to another page. This one is for you contact information.

I highly recommend you DON’T NOT put any details too personal in the page such address and mobile number. It can lead to problems such as identify theft. You don’t have to fill in every box just the ones you want to.

Once you are done click on save changes as done previously.

Step 9 cont…You will then go to a page where you enter detail about your Education and Work. Some details may all ready be filled in from previous sections. You can add in more detail, remove detail, or change detail whichever one you want to do.

Once finished press save changes

YAY you are now finished adding you details.

Step 10You now need some friends. Click on the home button at the top of the page.

The you will go back to the home page as shown in step 8. On the right side will be a section called “Find Your Friends”, you need to click on the Friend Finder link

You should go to a page like the picture on the right.

You then need to search for people that you know.

Just type their name in the box and press search

Step 10 cont…When you click search you will come here. It will show all the people with the name or detail you entered. If you see a friend then click on “Add a Friend

Step 10 cont…When you click Add A Friend, a new small window will appear like the one below. You need to click on the “Add Friend” button.

It will then go to this section where you have to enter text again. Once you entered the text just press Add Friend

Now you have to wait for the person to accept you as a friend.

Step 11In the picture below is your wall. To get here just click profile and the top (next to the home link)This is where people can see what your up to and also where you can blog. To blog click on the little arrow. A few options will appear click on the write button. A box will appear which you can write in.

Finished !!

You should now have a basic understanding of how to use face book. Have a play around with the other features and soon you will be a Face book expert. Remember to be careful who you talk to and add as a friend as well as what personal details you put on the internet.
