It doesn't need to be a scary conversa- tion. Sing along with The Wiggles or Happy Birthday 2 times! : ) You can also show children how to cover a cough or a sneeze with their elbow. Explain that it’s best not to get too close to people and offer outdoor options with other children when you can safely distance. If they are old enough and need to wear masks find some fun –child themed ones for them and show them how to wash and hang the mask to dry after use. Getting them involved will reinforce the concept. CALENDAR

  • Snowman Finger Play

Build a snowman starting at his feet

Put on lots of snow and pack so neat

Roll a round ball and put it on the top

    When the sun comes out

    The snowman gets Hot!

    I’m ME:LTING!!

    Play Dough Recipe

    In a medium bowl mix

    1 cup flour,

    1/4 cup table salt

    1 tsp Cream of Tartar

Make a well in the centre and stir in

    1/2 cup boiling water,

    1/2 Tbsp vegetable oil

    and blend with a spatula.

Add food colouring of your choice or

for winter you may like to use white.

    Make additional batches for other

    colours or more children.

    Store in a plastic container,

Gather items around your home to

    enhance your child’s imaginative play.

Pretend outdoor play can include stuffies,

    pine cones & holiday greenery,

Read stories and encourage your child

    to expand their play.

    Create fun snacks for your

    children like this tropical

    fruit plate. This can en-

    courage picky eaters, espe-

    cially with vegetables. Add

a dip. Have a carpet picnic.

Use your child’s photo to make ac cut valentine keepsake for grandparents

  • Creating your own fun at home for little cost

    Puddle Jumping

Give your child a fun way to burn energy and develop large muscle

skills indoors on wintery days. Together you can prepare some

puddle shapes and have them jump, skip or dance around the

route. (secure the shapes to the floor with painters tape.) Create

games with music—you have to stop when the music stops or go

fast or slow depending on the

    music . Use different coloured

shapes and the child has to follow

the Blue or Green shapes only.

    If you don’t have construction

paper use old magazine pages or

    printer paper.

Last month we suggested you save your Amazon or

Christmas boxes. These and some duct tape and

crayons can transform into many fun activities for

children. Look online for more ideas.

  • Use cotton balls and popcycle sticks or

twigs to create a snowman craft.

You will need glue , buttons or

    construction paper for the details.

    TOQUE

Cut a paper plate in half to

    make a Toque.

Your child can glue or paint it

    and then add stickers, some

pom poms or cotton balls to

    complete the top.

  • Books we will be reading

Sneezy the Snowman by Maureen Wright

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bil Martin JR

Baking Day at Grammas by Anika Denise

The Family Book by Todd Parr
