Dr. Ho received his BSc (Hons) degree from the University Of Malaya in 1968, and MSc and PhD from the University Of Bristol, England in 1969 and 1972 respectively. He was formally trained in Colloid and Surface Science, the forerunner of nanoscience, at the MSc programme in Bristol and his PhD thesis was on the synthesis of polystyrene latex and their interaction with methyl cellulose. He has been researching on surface and colloidal behaviour of polymeric materials ever since.

He started his career as a research ofcer at the Rubber Research Institute Malaysia in the early seventies before moving to the University Malaya in 1975. He was a former Head and professor of the Department of Chemistry. After his statutory retirement from the university, he spent three years as a R&D Director of a glove manufacturing company before returning to the academic world as the Dean and professor of a private university to establish a new Faculty of Applied Sciences and started two degree programmes on Biotechnology and Materials Science. Dr. Ho has forty years’ experience as a researcher out of which thirty-ve years were spent in the universityenvironment. His research interests were on latex technology and dispersed systems of economic importance to Malaysia in the early days. This has since shifted to materials science with emphasis on green materials, clean processes and technology, including AFM techniques in visualizing the surface morphology of thin latex lms.

Currently Dr. Ho is an Adjunct Professor of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR). Dr. Ho is a Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry and its Past-President. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences of Malaysia as well as a council member. He is also a Chartered Chemist and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Britain. He sits in the Council of the Pacic Polymer Federation and is a founding member of the Asian Oceania Green and Sustainable Chemistry Network. He was awarded the DSc degree by the University of Bristol in 1998, National Science Award in 1999, the Malaysian Toray Science Foundation Award in 1997, the IKM Good Medal in 1999, the Rotary Research Foundation Gold Medal in 1999.
