Latest technology for insulation and safety purpose – the EPDM rubber foam

EPDM Rubber (Ethylene Propylene Di-ene Monomer) is an extremely durable synthetic rubber roofing membrane (ethylene propylene diene ter-polymer) widely used in low-slope buildings as covering material of the outer surface of the buildings.

It is also used in radiators, glass-run channels, as garden hose pipe, belts, electrical insulation, vibrators and solar panel heat collector.

It is also used for collecting rainwater on the roofs (since it doesn’t pollute the rainwater), rubber mechanical goods, electrical cable jointing, as vulcanizites, thermoplastic and many other applications.

It also helps in waterproofing the roof. EPDM is available in the market in many different forms like granules, pipes, mats, sheets etc. But the form which is rapidly gaining acceptance in the market is the foam sheet.

EPDM Rubber Foam is available in the market to be bought by the meter with thickness ranging from as small as 1mm to as thick as 30mm (with varying thickness of 2mm, 4mm, 5mm, 8mm 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 17mm, 20mm, 25mm and 27mm), which can be supplied according to the user’s requirement.

EPDM rubber foam offers outstanding resistance to heat, ozone and weather.

This property of the EPDM finds use in insulating apartments in cold countries. Also the fact that EPDM doesn’t react with oil, gasoline and aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons enables it to be used as kitchen wallpapers and kitchen counter tops.

Its unsatisfactory compatibility with concentrated acids can be used in chemistry labs as counters coverage.

Also noteworthy is its non-slip safety surface. Nowadays, mats in gyms usually consist of EPDM rubber foam attached to the regular mat.

This provides for a comfortable grip of the feet while exercising and it also absorbs the shock if a heavy weight is accidentally dropped on it. EPDM rubber foam has a large scope in the Indian market and since these find usage in our day to day lives, they are indispensable.
