With the increase of boating trafficon Lake Conroe, it is even moreimportant to watch out forhitchhikers! Invasive zebra musselsfirst made their debut in Texas in2009 at Lake Texoma. Since thattime, these devastating littlecreatures have wreaked havocacross the lone star state.

Enjoying Lake ConroeAfter Stay-At-Home Orders Have Been Lifted

With stay-at-home orders being lifted,school ending early, and summer here,the number of boats on Lake Conroewaters increases every single day. Thelake level is bobbing at 200 feet abovemean sea level (msl), which is one footdown from the conservation pool level

of 201 feet msl. As always, with anylevel, there is the need to keep an eyeout for water hazards. With the start ofboating season, the San Jacinto RiverAuthority (SJRA) wants to remindboaters of some basic water safetyrules.

The San Jacinto River Authority’s mission is to develop, conserve, and protect thewater resources of the San Jacinto River basin. Covering all or part of seven counties,

the organization’s jurisdiction includes the entire San Jacinto River watershed,excluding Harris County. The SJRA is one of two dozen river authorities in the State ofTexas, and like other river authorities, its primary purpose is to implement long-term,

regional projects related to water supply and wastewater treatment. SJRA receives nomoney from the state, nor does it collect any type of taxes.
