Is it too late to take action?A. Not necessarily, no, but beforeyou do anything you should ask fora written statement from the linemanager as to exactly what wassaid. You need to see this beforeyou decide whether disciplinaryproceedings are appropriate.

Q. I’m not very good at havingdifficult conversations with staff.Can the line manager deal with it?A. No. The line manager is a witnessso they cannot decide upon or takedisciplinary action. You coulddelegate the matter to anothermanager but whoever deals with theissue does need to act promptly.
