Ward 14 Councillor Mr. Joseph Mogale has come out guns blazing

accusing “tenderpreneurs” whom he said want to benefit from government projects for being behind the recent spate of violent protest actions which hit New Eersterus outside Hammanskraal. This comes after residents barricaded the Molefe Makinta Highway with burning tyres and stones, forcing cars travelling between Soshanguve and Hammanskraal to be redirected into alternative routes.

Mogale said the protest was led by a member of the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) Mr. Jonas Lebeya whom he said wanted a stake in the R 10 Million Bulk Water project, which is set to supply water to the neighbouring Stinkwater area.

“THIS PROTEST is not about service delivery it is fuelled by predators who want to hijack the water project for their own enrichment. All they care about is their pockets and they do not have the interest of people at heart. What puzzles me is that during the time when they were awarded tenders and plum jobs they were not complaining about service delivery,” said Mogale.

Mogale said Lebeya had in the past held one of the most sought after political positions in local politics of a Community

Liaising Officer (CLO). CLO link the contractor and the workers in the projects. He was involved in the installation of street light, building of Redirile Primary School and the expansion of roads in the area.

In the Sosh Times Late November 2013 issue, it was reported that Lebeya was assault and nearly left blind on his right eye during the Bi Annual Branch General Meeting.

It was alleged that the incident took place in the presence of the Executive Mayor of Tshwane Kgosientsho Ramokgopa who had arrived in the company of 14 motor bike bouncers trying

to nullify the Branch Executive Committee.

On the contrary Lebeya accused Mogale of undermining the very same people who put him into power.

“If you look into our area there is not even a single development that is taking place. While the majority of our people remain unemployed and yet a bulk water project to Stinkwater passes through our area and not a single person from our area is employed in that project. We are going to fight to the bitter end for our rights,” said Lebeya.

He further said that taking to the streets has been the only

option that they have as every time they want to raise issues with Mogale they are assaulted by his bouncers.

“One of our Branch Executive Member of the ANC Mr. Robert Manganye was assaulted by Mogale’s bouncers during a meeting because he was raising questions. He is forever surrounded by drug addicts who provide protection to him,” said Lebeya.

Sosh Times reporter witnessed members of the Extended Public Works Programme working in the water project assaulting Lebeya along the Molefe Makinta Highway

in broad daylight. The reporter tried to take a picture of the incident but was threatened with death should dare do that.

There was a gun shot from the contract workers and the reporter escaped through a passing taxi, as Lebeya was rescued by another car.

The reporter further said that Lebeya was in the company of about thirty women trying to stop the contract workers from participating in the bulk water project as they were not residents of New Eersterus.

RESIDENTS OF Madidi Village in the North West Province will breathe a sigh of relief knowing that a contingency plan to address their water shortage woes will soon become nothing but a distant memory.

This comes in the wake of the installation of new water pipelines and the resurrection and refurbishment of boreholes to address the water shortage and supplement the current infrastructure in the area.

Water cuts and shortages have been a thorny issue for the residents and they had to rely on water tankers in other cases pay for water from those who have installed their own water provision infrastructures.

Ward 3 Councillor Susan Nthangeni said; “The project acts as a contingency plan and in no way replaces the old infrastructure but it ensures that residents are provided with clean quality water and unburdens the current system until such time water supply is

back to normality.” The North West Province has

been in the spotlight due to its water crisis management where in some instances innocent lives were lost due to taking part in protest marches over water shortages and contamination. Old infrastructure is also to be blamed as the demand exceeds supply placing a huge strain on it.

Earlier this year the former North West Premier Thandi Modise and former Water and Environmental Affairs Minister

Edna Molewa signed a Water Project Implementation Plan. The R2 billion project includes bulk infrastructure upgrade and boreholes refurbishment.

R300 million of the monies allocated has been set aside for the Madibeng Local Municipality communities which are experiencing problems with water provision.

According to North West Provincial Spokesperson Lesiba Kgwele the plan will be rolled out and spent on bulk infrastructure upgrades and

boreholes refurbishment. “The upgrades will provide

various local municipalities with the capacity to meet the basic demand of 60 litres of water per person per day,” Lesiba added

South Africa has adopted a 10 year plan to address the estimated backlog of adequate water supply to 1.4 million households and basic sanitation to 2.1 million households through the Strategic Integrated Project (SIP).

Water project trickles down to community

The veil of secrecy is now out in the open as to who are the faceless persons who instigate

our ignorant communities into violent protest actions, pretending as the concerned residents fighting for the civil rights of the people. The people in this case signify the voters who put the rulers into power. These concerned residents are the persons vying for tenders to enrich themselves and their cronies.” The story in the moot is the R10 Million Bulk Water project aimed at supplying water to Stinkwater, presently under construction. The residents of “F4” in New Eersterus applied violence in trying to block the water project operating. They barricaded the Molefe Makinta Highway with burning tyres and stones, forcing cars travelling between Soshanguve and Hammanskraal to be directed into alternative routes. Our lead story on this issue deals with that matter. Ward 14 Councillor Mr. Joseph “Jojo” Mogale has blamed tenderpreneurs as the engineers of such protests, in order to benefit from government tenders. Mogale blamed Mr. Jonas Lebeya, who is a member of the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL), whom he said wanted a slice from the water project. Meanwhile Lebeya has denied the accusation vehemently.”Many people were inconvenienced by this violent protest action. Some commuters did not go to work because of this. It is now examination time, some children did not manage to go to school or arrived very late. This is a gross misinterpretation of democracy and human rights. It is extremely annoying for tricksters to abuse our democracy, just because they want to enrich themselves. Some people laid down their lives in order for us to be free. The tricksters are skilful at displaying their lies. They do that through working very hard to have a negative story to tell. They do not want to tell a bad story about the national government, but against a councillor who is in charge in their ward. The question of electing councillors is also quite dubious. The holding of Branch Executive meetings are arranged in such a way that the aspirant councillor can hire a bus to bring candidates who are going to vote for him, having reserved them enough membership cards to make them eligible to vote. Winning those elections the aspirant councillor becomes the candidate or face of the ward, even the people who do not approve of him. They only vote for him because they are fond of the ANC as it has built RDP houses for them, brought electricity to the most remote area in their region. The ANC should get a better way of electing qualitative leaders, not the type that they place as of now. As we know that the majority councillors are those from the ruling African National Congress (ANC), that means it is them fighting against each other. The crux of the Apartheid system was that of divide and rule. It was the question of setting blacks against each other, dividing them along racial lines so that they may not be able to forge the unity that would break the Apartheid wall down. A s we are just about to finish up celebrating Heritage month and there were different calls that we should not look at matters which divide us but rather look at matters that unify us as a proud South African nation. We should shun at people who instigate us to infringe the freedom and rights of other people by preventing them to go to work to earn a decent living, to burn libraries to prevent people access to education, prevent development just because we do not have a stake at it.

USING THE WORD ENTREPRENEUR

CORRECTLY 3

STAGE SIX>I hope by now you have realised that the word Entrepreneur is not

what you thought it was. You have also realised the work involved to those who aspire to be called entrepreneurs one good morning. This is not a gimmick or an overnight achievement. It requires human dedication and willingness to move beyond mediocrity to reach the top where it matters most.

Success in any business is driven by passion. You have to like the business. If the Business Person stands the test of time, he/she remains popular or respected for a long time. He/She begin to enjoy profitability, Sustainability, Growth and Expansion. At this stage he/she has reached a stage where he/she rules diligently over his/her business/Organisation. Fears and uncertainty or doubt no longer exist.

At this stage he/she graduate to be called an ENTREPRENEUR.He or she accepts this responsibility knowing and understanding the responsibilities attached to the

name Entrepreneur. At this stage we can proudly talk about the Entrepreneur. The personality, attitude and many personal traits have seriously changed for the better.Entrepreneurs know themselves very well. They do what they enjoy whiles taking the calculated risk. They take what they do very seriously. They live to understand the following traits:TENACITY>This trait is known by many names--perseverance, persistence, determination, commitment, resilience-

FLEXIBILITY>Business survival, like that of the species, depends on adaptation. Your final product or service likely won’t look anything like what you started with. Flexibility that allows you to respond to changing tastes and market conditions is essential. “You have to have a willingness to be honest with yourself and say, ‘This isn’t working.’RULE-BREAKING>Doing what the majority isn’t doing is the nature of entrepreneurship, which is where the supply of inner resources

comes in. They break the norms to achieve beyond normal activities.CREATIVE THINKERS>They always come up with new ways of doing things. Creativity is their way of life. They understand that the God who created them is Creative. They understand God’s instruction to multiply and fill the earth and rule over it.

THE IMPROVER>They operate their businesses predominately in the improver mode; they are focused on using their businesses as a means to improve the world. Improvers have an unwavering ability to run their business with high integrity and ethics. They have the tendency to be perfectionists and over-critical of employees and customers.THEYDRESS

FOR SUCCESS>Take care of your appearance by showering, and keeping your hair and clothes presentable. They dress in the manner that compliments their looks and body. They understand that role models must be role models and not something else.TELL THE TRUTH>If you are

lying all the time, then don’t expect people to believe you. They are not going to bother with you because they cannot trust you to tell them the right information. Entrepreneurs understand the good and the bad of doing what they do. To everything in life there are advantages and disadvantages and entrepreneurship is no exception to it. You have to be prepared to live up to the hard truths while on the success path of being entrepreneur:Flexibility>While you work for an employer, you have fixed timings or fixed deliverables at the end of the day. However, being an entrepreneur you have greater flexibility of work at your own convenience. You may choose to work whenever you want, wherever you want, and however you want. You may start your work late or early based on your needs and you can even work till late night. You may even spend a day off during weekdays with your child or start late after picking up your child from school.

Fear of Loss>Winning and Losing is part of the game but fear of losing is something keeps on haunting now and then. An entrepreneur is able to win this fear of loss while taking the risk. As an entrepreneur, you have to take all your decisions and thus a certain amount of fear of loss is always there however you have come over it to take calculative risk to become successful.Diversity of your work profile>Owning a business makes your profile diversified. You have to manage your finance, marketing, operations and all other departments by your own. This makes few jacks or for few masters of all trades but yes this makes your job interesting.

Irregular Income>When you have in job, at the end of the month you could have a fixed salary which would make you plan almost all your expenses accordingly. However in business there would undoubtedly be fewer benefits, especially when considering that your business would be just starting off. To cope up such thing you might have to plan for regular expenses in very advance or keep a reserve for 1-2 years before venturing out.Entrepreneur. Anybody who aspires to rise to the responsibility of Entrepreneur knows what to do and what it takes to be called an Entrepreneur. Pass this message to those who still believe a businessperson and an Entrepreneur is one and the same thing.

South African businesses have been called on to take advantage of opportunities in Angola.

A South African business delegation is in Angola at the Feira Internacional de Angola (FILDA) trade exhibition in Luanda.

“Energy, water, construction materials, telecommunications, chemicals, mining and distribution are all projects where foreign investment is needed,” said Joao Rocha of Termat Comecio Geral, a company that is on a mission to attract and promote South African goods and services in Angola.

Rocha was addressing the South African business delegation at FILDA on Sunday. The delegation of 27 representatives is participating in FILDA with the assistance of the Department of Trade and Industry (dti).

The dti has organised a national pavilion at the exhibition, while it has also financially assisted the companies to participate in the multi-sectoral fair with exhibitors from different sectors including oil, banking, services, trade, communications, automobile, machines and equipment, agriculture and farming products.

The Angolan government has committed US$113 billion for transport and infrastructure over the next 20 years and US$3.97 billion in agricultural development amongst the key drivers of economic growth.

Rocha said Angola has a special programme of incentives for investment projects that include agro-industrial processing, packaging and logistics, which will increase the value chain of local food production.

The South African companies arrived in Angola on Tuesday to participate in FILDA, which concludes today.

He cautioned that there are tough hurdles to overcome when doing business in Angola, including the long period of time that it takes to register a business in that country.Rocha said the top three leading countries that have established themselves in the Angolan market are the US, Brazil and China. - SAnews.gov.za

Environment

Everyone can notice that our planet is changing. We have

a role to play in helping it change for the better. There are a lot of things that affect our planet in a bad way but the good news is that everyone can help to reduce them and do their bit for the environment.

I have compiled a list of important Environmental topics but will look into them in the coming articles, let’s focus on Recycling to start protecting the environment today.

We throw away unwanted food, glass bottles, plastic bottles, cans, wrappers, paper. Can you think of anything else?

Recycling can be a profitable part of your business or even a profitable business on its own. Besides, it is a great feeling to know that you are making a positive impact on the environment.

According to The Operations Manager at Collect- A- Can Mr. Gregory Masoka his organisations in Pretoria recovers around 250 tons of cans per month and reimburses the collectors for their daily efforts.

Many of these things are made up of natural resources such as trees, coal, oil and

aluminium and one day some of these resources will be used up completely.

Let me ask this. Do you recycle at home and at school? Why recycle? Well, this takes us back to the topic of energy. Recycling glass, paper, cardboard and plastic should save the energy it would take to make new paper, glass bottles and plastic containers which I wrote about in my previous articles.

I have seen some great projects where schools have collected all of their waste and weighed it to be marketed every week. Pupils of Redibone primary school in Soshanguve block F West have a handful of educational programmes to enhance their

understanding in recycling. The aim of the programme

is to raise awareness about littering and enlighten learners about the vitality of caring for the environment. Why not see how much your school, class or family try and set targets to reduce the waste. How to help:

Thinking more about what we waste helps to protect the environment by saving energy, reducing pollution, cutting costs and preserving our natural resources. Unwanted or leftover food such as tea bags and potato peelings can be added straight to a compost heap.

For a fact I know you forgot about this but I will encourage the community to

Recycling cans, plastic and papersave trees by recycling so we can have paper. There is a lot we can do with paper.

Paper with a clean side can be made into notepads. If you are buying paper, buy recycled paper. If you can carry your shopping home without a bag, please do so. If you cannot do it, take a bag you already have with you. Re-using bags are a great way to shopping experience

Ally’s City FC walloped H a m m a n s k r a a l based Garona FC

3-0 in the finals of Chief Allys soccer tournament played at Giant Stadium in Soshanguve recently. The eight team tournament saw eight teams from Mabopane, Hammanskraal, Ga-Rankuwa, Winterveldt

battling it out for the coveted R 5000 price tag on offer.

The tournament is a brain child of the former owner of Swaziland based Mbabane Highlanders FC Chief Ally Kgomongwe of Bakwena Tribe in the North West province.

“It has always been my dream to do something for the community but couldn’t find exactly what it is that

I can do to reach out to as many youth as possible. This soccer tournament is just the start of many community-based projects/programs yet to come,” said Kgomongwe.

“Our communities have become places of criminal activities and drug abuse because our youth do not have positive role models to look up to. This is just my singular contribution to help

promote the development of sport in our community,” said Kgomongwe.

Ally City’s Johannes Kgoale won the Top goal scorer of the tournament, while the Player of the Tournament went to Karyn Morr. The runner up

Garona pocketed R 1800 and silver medals. Other teams that took part in the tournament included Sun Shine, Happy Boys, Ally’s United, Eleven Express, ODI United, Barcelona and Ally’s City Football Club.

1. Welcome to Sports Talk. Can you introduce yourself to Sports Talk readers?Thank you so much. My name is Motsepe Lucas “skio” Tau (58); resident of Orchards; Pretoria.

2. Could you please tell us about your sport and how it all started?

My sport is karate and Taebo. I am the chief instructor/style head of the Funakoshi-shotokan Tae-bo dojo in Orchards. It all started back in 1977 at Mothutlung, in Brits when I did the kyokushing-kai(full-contract) style under sensei Justice Mpofu and shaihan Dave Mas. In 1982 I changed to Shotokan (semi-contact) style under sensei Edward Mtshali. I graded my 1st Dan Black belt-shudan(1985); 2nd Dan black-belt Nidan (1990); 3rd Dan black-belt Sandan(1993); 4th Dan black belt Yondan (1997); 5th Dan-Godan (2001); 6th Dan black-belt Roku (2005) and I’m now due for the seventh Dan. 3. What are some of

the highlights of your career?

Wow; that is a million-dollar question because one has achieved so much in one’s lifetime. Suffice to say, the following could be some of the highlights; namely ; representing world Shotokan Karate champs in Turkey(1988); representing S.A in Seishinkai World karate champs in Osaca (Japan) in 1996; representing South Africa Karate Team in Tokyo-Japan(2004); appointed as a national all-style coach for karate south Africa(KSA) in 2008, National coach for S.A junior and senior teams at the Common-wealth games in Edinburgh; Scotland; and appointed as an International President of Zurkhaneh sport in south Africa(2008) .

4. What are some of the most common challenges you come across in your career?

You know; challenges are many and varied but the most common challenges are lack of suitable

facilities and resources.

5. What is it according to you that makes this sport unique and appealing?

This sport requires a high level of discipline and commitment. With these qualities one becomes a respectable and successful member of the community.

6. Who, according to you, is the best Karate/Taebo of all times?

Internationally it can only be Billy Blanks (Taebo) and locally it must be Edward Mtshali from Kwa-Thema, Springs.

7. How would you want to be remembered?

As someone who has played an indispensible role in making karate and Taebo what it is today, both locally and internationally.

8. Any immediate future plans?

To develop and train as many kids in karate and

Taebo as it is humanly possible; especially those from disadvantaged areas. To produce a few athletes that will represent our country in the next Olympics.

9. If you were not doing what you are doing now, what else would you be doing?

Definitely playing soccer because I’ve captained the Mothutlung Callies Football Club at some point in the past.

10. Any memorable or best fight you ever had to date?

Beating a Japanese champ and winning 3-1 in 1997.

11. There aren’t enough women in this sport. Any particular reason?

I would agree with you there because white women command the highest number in this sport as opposed to their black counter-parts who still feel that karate is a male sport and subscribe to the myth that women

Sports

who play karate would not bear children.

12. Are there any other roles you occupy in the community?

Yes, I’m currently the President for all sports codes of Sub-region 1 in Tshwane; the Deputy President of sports in Tshwane and the executive member of Gauteng karate sports.

The residents of Tshwane North are set to witness a 4 day soccer spectacle at Giant Stadium, as the 18 teams that have qualified to play in the finals of Sanlam Kay Motsepe Cup travel to Soshanguve to battle it out for Africa’s biggest schools competition with a whopping R 1 million price tag on offer.

The nine provincial champions, and the nine

second-placed teams, will be in action at the Giant Stadium in Soshanguve from October 6 to 9 2014. The runner up will take home R 600 000, 3rd place team will get R500 000 and 4th place finisher gets R400 000.This is despite the 100 000 that each of the provincial winners have already received.

The consensus is that this year’s competition is wide open following the elimination of the Pretoria based defending champions, Clapham High

School at the provincial playoff stage.

Tshwane will be pinning their hope on the Atteridgeville based Holy Trinity High School to emulate the heroics of Claphman High School.

Although Holy Trinity is new in the tournament for the school, they will be boosted by the fact that most of their players play their trade for Supersport United Academy. This coupled by the fact that most of them played in last year’s final for Rosina Sedibe Sport School.

“The Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup national final is an ideal opportunity for the clubs to spot talent and scouts from PSL clubs will be there in force to look for players to boost their youth academies. Mamelodi Sundowns will again be selecting a team of top players who will be offered a trip to Chloorkop to participate in a coaching clinic,” said Kay Motsepe Cup Organizer Benny Tshablala.

Tshabalala added that the foundation bus will bring in fans and bring top music group from around the country to entertain the crowd.

1. Welcome to sports talk. Can you introduce yourself to sports talk readers? Thank you so much. My name is Faith Ntsako “ABSA” Chauke (19years); a grade 12 learner at Senthibele Secondary School and I reside at Block BB, Soshanguve.

2. Could you please give us a brief back-ground about your sporting career?

My sport is Rugby and I play for the Blue Bulls women’s senior team and springbok u/20 position 8. Well, I can say I became a rugby player by sheer co-incidence. I must have been 8years (2003) when I started playing rugby at Kgomotso Rugby club under the guidance of former coach, Sello Maswanganye. After many years of hard work and dedication, I attended Blue Bulls’ trials in 2013 and was successful. Subsequent to that, I was chosen to be part of the u/20 team to participate in the Youth Olympics in Australia the same year. Later on, the very same year, we went to England for Nations Cup and I was made the captain of the team. We also went to Texas (USA) for the

Nations Cup for our test match.

3. Tell us how you came to earn the nickname “absa”?

You know we all earn our nicknames in a funny way. I used to wear a springbok rugby jersey sponsored by ABSA autographed by my favourite rugby players; Pirrie Spies; Akhona Ndungwane etc. I used to wear that T-shirt everyday because of the sentimental attachment I had with it. 4. Are there any moments that you consider to be the highlights of your career?

Most definitely, I have got two moments that stand out for me, the first time I boarded an airplane to play in the Youth Olympics in Australia (2013) and was also chosen to be the flag bearer during the opening ceremony.Secondly it has to be being selected to captain the women senior rugby team in England during the Nations cup.

5. What are some of the challenges you have to deal with in your career on a regular daily basis?

I often struggle to strike a balance between my school work, chores

and rugby. Having to work twice as hard to prove the sceptics that women can also make it in a previously male dominated sport.

6. Where would you want to see yourself in a foreseeable future?

Career wise, I want to study sport science course at the University of Pretoria (TUKS) using the bursary that has been offered to me by the university. I also wish to see myself playing for one of the rugby teams overseas.

7. Have you got any regrets in your life so far?

Well to be frank with you, I have got few moments that I cannot forgive myself for the mistakes I made. I rejected an offer to play for the TUKS rugby team in the past and again missing an opportunity to go play in the world cup tournament in UK because of my school work commitments. I feel these are two most golden opportunities I should’nt have missed.

8. Who in your opinion; is the best rugby player of all times?

Locally it has to be; my role model; Pirrie Spies (Blue Bulls) and

internationally it can only be (Connybill Williams) New Zealand 9. Which are some of your favourite overseas countries you have visited?

I have visited Australia, England, Canada, France and the USA.

10. How do you deal with pressure and fame that comes with playing for a national team?

I must be honest with you, it is not easy because people read about you in local newspapers and hear you on radio and watch you on television and expect you to be super-human. They forget that we are just ordinary as the rest of them but with time you learn the art of how best to remain grounded and level-headed at all times.

11. If you were not doing what you are doing now, what else do you think you could be doing?

I derive a lot of pleasure from motivational talk/speech and I think could be in that space.

12. How would you want to be remembered?

I want to be remembered as someone who defied the odds and rose above challenges

to pave the way for the disadvantaged kids from the community.

13. Rugby does not attract a lot of investors/sponsors in our community. What is your take on that?A lot of people are still pre-occupied with the mind-set that rugby is a white sport and truth be told more blacks joining the sport.

Hammanskraal Local Football Association (HALFA) season

recently came to an end with Ramotse based Kgotlelelo FC being crowned the winners of the under 11 League. Kgotlelelo led the pack with 30 points conceding only 1 goal in seven games against 21

goals they scored.Kgotlelelo fellow Ramotse

side Darkies FC clinched the Under 19 league with three points ahead of the second placed New Eersterus Downs. Darkies Chairman Thomas Ntshangase attributed his side feat to the retention of players in his side.

“The majority of the players who helped us to win the

league have been with us from the under 15 side. Throughout the years they have gradually progressed from one division to the other. Some of them have played for our senior team. This boosted their confidence. One could see throughout the season that this team was prepared to fight till the end,” said Ntshangase.

Temba based Leboneng FC

were crowned the winners of the Under 15 league, 10 points adrift from the second placed Blue Birds FC.

“The league has been challenging for us, we had lots of ups and downs. I believe what worked for us were the consistency we displayed in our first five games of the season. After winning them all I told our players the trophy

was half way in our cabinet,” said Leboneng coach Caphlets Makwiting.

Eersterus Downs were crowned the winners of the Under 13 league. HALFA Administrator Jephty Kubayi said the season has been exciting and showed the large pool of talent in the area.
