Students register themselves on GENISYS, until the day before the start of the term. After the term starts, students must submit an Add/Drop form to their Admin. Advisor for any registration changes. GENISYS registration is not available at any time for Independent Studies or Culminating Experience courses. Students must follow procedures outlined on the RSG Academics website to seek approval for registration in these specialized courses.

Specific Degree Program / Certificate Requirements The Robertson School of Government ("RSG") offers an M.A. in Government (Single Degree), M.A in Government (Joint Degree) and the Certificate of Graduate Studies (non-degree). M.A. Degree students also qualify to receive the Certificate of Graduate Studies in their track(s) of specialization.

*For Fall 2005-Spring 2007 student cohorts, the university catalog requires modifications for the Public Policy and International Politics tracks (other tracks not affected). These cohorts must complete a total of 15 credit hours of track/certificate courses (6 credit hours "required track courses" and 9 credit hours "additional track courses").

M.A. in Government (Single Degree)Total of 39 credit hours

Non-Degree Certificate students are not required to take Core or Culm. Experience credit hours. However, for the PP and IP certificate, completion of GOV 601 or

equivalent is a prerequisite. *Non-degree students may register for a maximum of 18 credit hours.* During or after certificate completion, students may apply for degree

admission to the M.A. in Government program and transfer all twelve credits upon formal admission.

Choose one of nine Certificate Programs 12 credit hours

Certificates are available in the following tracks of specialization: Public Policy (PP), Law & Policy (LPP), International Politics (IP), World Economic & Political Development (WEP), Terrorism & Homeland Defense (THD),

Political Management (PM), Political Leadership & Management (PLM), Public Administration (PA), Health Care Policy & Administration (HCA). M.A. students may choose to complete one or more certificate tracks. However, the following tracks cannot be combined: PP with LPP, IP with WEP, or PM with PLM.

Elective courses may be chosen from any course taught through RSG. Requests for modification to the ADP must be approved via Academic Petition.

M.A. in Government (Joint Degree) Total of 30 credit hours*Student must be approved by both Regent schools to become part of a Joint Degree program. All requirements for both schools must be met before student can graduate from either school. Student must discuss Culminating Experience options with their faculty advisor and formally notify RSG Student Services in writing of their choice before the end of their 1L year in LAW. If satisfying requirement through LAW, then student must replace the RSG Culminating Experience credit hours with a 3 credit elective course.

Other Important Degree InformationBefore submitting your Approved Degree Plan to Student Services, please review these guidelines for creating your Course Schedule:

* You are not required to complete all core courses before enrolling in track courses or electives. In fact, RSG advises taking one track course per semester. However, there are specific cases where a particular core course may be required before or concurrent with other courses. Please note the following: * For the PP and IP tracks, GOV 601 Quantitative Analysis must be taken in the Fall and is a required prerequisite for GOV 612 Public Policies. * For all other tracks, GOV 601 Quantitative Analysis must be taken in the Spring or Summer. * UNIV LIB Library Research and Resources must be taken in your first semester of enrollment. * GOV 604 Christian Foundations of Government must be taken in your first year. * It is best to take GOV 611 American Government before or concurrent with the following courses: GOV 619, 620, 635, 636, 670, or 671 * It is best to take GOV 602 Principles of Economics before or concurrent with the following courses: GOV 615, 674, or 687 * It is best to take GOV 654 International Politics before or concurrent with the following courses: GOV 638, 655, 659, 673, 674, 675, or 676 * If you choose to do GOV 698 Prof. Project or GOV 699 Thesis for your Culm. Experience, you must register for this class before your last semester in the M.A. program.
