PALLETIZING ROBOTSHeight detection feedback for robotic stacking

Sensors are used to help palletizing robots with product stacking/placement by measuring the distance to the floor or top of the stack. Varying colors or materials for the products being stacked or the floor can affect conventional sensors causing incorrect readings and potentially damaging products due to misplacement. The use of TOF (Time of Flight) Technology allows the LR-T to stably detect the distance regardless of the surface finish.

SHEET WINDING PROCESSWeb guidance

Interior sheets come in a variety of colors, materials, and even designs like mesh. Holes in the mesh and the changing of the sheet's color or material cause conventional reflective sensors to malfunction. The LR-T is not affected by any of these factors due to its innovative position based detection method and ability to increase its beam spot size to ignore holes.

ENGINE BLOCKS AND OTHER METALLIC SURFACESDetection of holes in engine blocks

Due to the complex shape of engine blocks and other metallic components in the automotive industry, it was typically necessary to use contact sensors to detect if a hole was processed correctly. With the ability to stably detect holes over long distances, the LR-T can now be used to decrease the amount of time necessary for inspection, and also be mounted in an unobtrusive location.

WELDING MACHINESPresence/absence detection of components prior to welding

The detection of large parts in the welding process has always been a problem since sensors needed be placed far from the target to prevent damage from weld spatter. By utilizing TOF (Time of Flight) technology, the LR-T can stably detect targets at greater distances than conventional sensors.

DIE CASTINGLevel Detection of melted aluminum in die casting

When using conventional level detection methods, the heat and vapor from the melted aluminum led to sensor damage and malfunctions. The ability to detect glossy metal levels from up to 5 m 16.4' away, allows the LR-T to be placed far from the potentially damaging heat. The LR-T also offers an analog output for more precise level control. Also, the analog output helps you to have different set points for more precise level control.

INJECTION MOLDINGConfirming part ejection

To improve the efficiency of the manufacturing cycle and prevent downtime, it is crucial to ensure that the target has been successfully removed from the mold prior to the next cycle. With its ability to maintain fine detection over long distances, the LR-T works to stably detect the target from virtually anywhere within 5 m 16.4'.

TRANSFER PRESSESDetection when the material runs out

Thrubeam type sensors needed to be mounted both above and below the press mold to detect material run out; however dirt and oil build up on the lenses quickly causes malfunctions. By having both the detection capabilities of a thrubeam sensor and mouting flexibility of a reflective sensor, LR-T is the best match for this application.

AUTOMATED SHUTTERSForklift approach detection

When using conventional thrubeam type photoelectric sensors, it took time and effort to perform wiring and alignment during installation. The LR-T reduces this time and effort by providing long distance stable detection with minimal wiring and no alignment necessary.

TAPPING MACHINESMonitoring for tool breakage on tapping machines

Tapping machines typically have to implement additional processes to check for tool breakage, because conventional sensors cannot stand up to the debris and cooling liquids near the tool. The long range capabilities of the LR-T allow it to be mounted far from the hazardous environment, and still stably monitor for tool breakage.

CUTTING AND ROLLING PROCESSESMaterial tension control in roll-to-roll process

When detecting upper, middle, and lower levels of sheet material with conventional thrubeam type photoelectric sensors, time consuming job such as installation, wire routing , and optical-axis alignment are necessary. The range and analog output found in the LR-T easily eliminate the need to use multiple sensors, and also provide better tension control.

FORGING/BILLET HEATERS (INDUCTION HEATERS)Detection of red-hot metal after ejection from a heater

The LR-T utilizes an innovative algorithm to neglect the effects of ambient, which enables it to reliably detect targets that are glowing hot. In addition, 5 m 16.4' detecting distance allows the sensor to be positioned far from the heated target.

SINTERING MACHINES AND LARGE FILLING MACHINESDetecting material level in a hopper

Dusts and mists have always been a problem for level detection when using conventional methods. Also, gaps between the materials sometimes led to incorrect measurements of the hopper level. The combination of TOF (Time of Flight) Technology and an adjustable beam spot permit, the LR-T to stably and reliably detect the level of the material in the hopper.
