Thorlabs’ new Dual Channel PM300 Series Optical Power Meterand PM300E Series Power and Energy Meter offer many feauresnot found in handheld devices. They are ideal for precise opticalmeasurements, laser and photodiode characterization, lifecyclemeasurements and many more applications in the lab and on themanufacturing floor. The dual channel design enables differentialand ratiometric measurements. Intuitive manual operation with thelarge graphics display, compatibility to conventional photodiodes, and excellent remote capabilities enable easy system integration.
The PM300 is compatible with all Thorlabs S100 SeriesPhotodiode Sensors (two channels) and S200 Series ThermalSensors (one channel) and allows the connection of unamplifiedanode or cathode grounded photodiodes with up to 10mAphotocurrent and thermal elements with up to 100mV outputvoltage. The PM300E additionally offers energy measurements with all Thorlabs ES100 and ES200 Series Energy Sensors (bothchannels) and dual-channel measurements with the S200 SeriesThermal Sensors as well. Both the PM300 and PM300E Series aresold as a single benchtop device with the sensors ordered separately. It can be combined with any of our power meter sensor heads, oruser-supplied photodiodes that provide a maximum 10mA output. The PM300E Series is additionally compatible with all ES100 andES200 Series Pyroelectric Energy Sensors.
Functionality
The calibrated sensors connect via two sub-D connectors on therear panel, which also provides two analog high bandwidth outputsto allow monitoring of each channel, plus the programmable analogoutput. Optional user-supplied photodiodes connect via two BNCinputs on the front panel, which feature switchable bandwidth anda programmable bias voltage. The input can be switched betweenthe front and rear connectors. The additional BNC output is gain-and-function programmable. It provides an analog voltageproportional to the output of one of the channels or as a differenceor ratio of the two power meter channels. The measurementresolution is 16 bit for all power ranges. The PM300 and PM300ESeries are controlled locally via the front panel, which features alarge 240x128 pixel LCD display, or remotely via USB 2.0.
