All camps offered at MoNaS are on a Monday through Friday schedule, from 8:00am to 12:00pm, with varied costs, as noted below.

Marine Biology: June 3 - 7Ages 10 -12; $150/week

Join museum staff in learning about the environments of the ocean by dissecting a series of marine animals including crayfish, squid, starfish, and fish to learn about animal anatomy. The final day will include a dis-cussion of coral reefs and the fascinating habitats they create!

Catch the (Sound) Wave: June 10 - 14Ages 7 - 9; $125/week

Explore sound and music in this “way out” loud summer program! We will learn how sound moves, create several instruments and noisemak-ers, as well as learn how animals use sound to communicate. Nature Art: June 17 - 21 Ages 5 – 6; $100/week

Unleash your inner artist with this fun summer camp at MoNaS. Each day we will create a take-home art project based on the desert sur-rounding us. Participants will make a wind chime, sun catcher, stained glass flowers, and more! Summer Science Mash-up: June 24 - 28Ages 7 – 9; $125/week

Calling all mad scientists! Join the museum for a series of exciting explorations about science. Each day of this camp we will delve into a different topic of chemistry or physics for a truly “down and dirty” inves-tigation of science!

In-structor will provide step-by-step guidance on the fundamentals of handling clay, firing, glazing, and studio basics. Please note there is no class on July 2.

Advanced Ceramics & Raku with Patrick Shaffer - Class #904Wednesdays, June 5 - July 24; 6:00 - 8:30pm; $110 fee includes materialsThis class will cover advanced techniques, including wheel and hand-building, glazing techniques, and firing, with a special emphasis in the second half of the class on the Raku process. Please note there is no class on July 3.

Ceramics Independent Study - Class #905Saturdays, June 8 - July 27; 9:00 - 11:30am; $110 fee includes materialsOnly students with extensive ceramics experience may register for this class. No instructor is present, students are entirely self-directed, and all studio rules must be followed. Class registration fee includes 50 lbs. of clay. Please note there is no inde-pendent study offered on July 6.

Each workshop at BCC runs two consecutive days (Wednesday - Thursday) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and is open to youth ages 7 to 12. The cost for each is $10.

Archaeologist in Training: June 12 - 13

Fun, hands-on activities introduce kids to Southwest archaeology! They will hold ceramic sherds and lithics that are hundreds of years old, with the chance to excavate a mock archaeology site to find ob-jects. Please be aware that some of the archaeology dig will be con-ducted outside, mostly in shade, but sunscreen and hats are a must.

Ceramics of the Southwest: June 19 - 20

Kids learn about Southwest Ceramics and create their own pot and de-signs. They will then learn how museums and archaeologists care for pots. Kids will get to break a pot and learn how to put it back together.

Retablos: June 26 - 27

Create your own retablo! Retablos are typically small, devotional paint-ings with religious subjects, often used for home worship. Participants will create a retablo with their choice of design. Both religious and non-religious design ideas will be provided for inspiration.

Sand Painting: July 10 - 11

While Native American and Tibetan sand paintings are traditionally temporary and created for healing purposes, this workshop on sand paintings will result in a permanent and decorative work of art. Each participant will take home their own finished product.

Punched Tin: July 17 - 18

Create your own punched tin project! Punched tin designs are tradi-tionally used to enhance frames, lighting fixtures and other decorative household items.

The Las Cruces Railroad Museum offers its popular scenicking classes again this summer! Participants will build a small diora-ma, in the process learning techniques for laying track, creating hills and mountains, and various types of landscaping common in model railroad layouts.

Workshops run from 9:00am to 12:00pm. The cost is $5 per par-ticipant, including materials. Choose from either date below.

Families are highly encouraged to take the class together. Chil-dren on their own must be at least 10 years old. Those accompa-nied by an adult must be at least 8 years old. Free to active duty military and their families through Blue Star Museum program.

Printmaking Workshop with Sudeshna Sengupta - Class #906Saturdays, July 20, July 27, and Aug. 3; 9:00am - 12:00pm; $60 fee incl. materialsThis workshop with our late summer visiting artist Sudeshna Sengupta will intro-duce linocut and other forms of relief printing, including block printing on fabric and hand-coloring on top of relief prints. Complements Floating World exhibit.

Glass Fusing with Annette Paajanen - Class #907Wednesdays, June 5 - July 31; 6:00 - 8:30pm; $85 fee includes materialsStudents in this popular Studio class will create functional and decorative pieces using colorful glass fired at high temperature in the Museum’s kilns. Please note there is no class on July 3 or July 10.

Painting Sampler: Traditional Approaches with Michael Poncé - Class #908 Saturdays, June 8 - June 29; 9:00 - 11:30am; $60 feeMichael Poncé reprises his popular introductory painting class for students who wish to become versed in the use of different paint forms while exploring various themes and learning the basic elements of painting in watercolor, acrylic, and oil.

Youth classes at MoA run four consecutive days (Tues-day - Friday) from 9:30am to 11:30am (Morning) or 1:00pm to 3:00pm (Afternoon). The fee for each youth class is $60. Classes are designed for specific age groups. Full class descriptions are available upon request.

Families begin at the Branigan, where a special book is read by a guest reader and then raffled to one lucky winner! Then,

families cross the courtyard to the Museum of Art to complete a dynamic project related to the book theme.

This FREE program is offered Saturdays at 11am!
