He is as equally at home in world music/classically influenced modal jazz as he is in hard-swinging bebop, post-bop, contemporary jazz, and down-home blues. Vince has been playing music since he was 11 years old, starting with Jazz drumming and Japanese Classical Music, then North Indian Classical and Traditional Middle Eastern Music. He has performed around the Americas and around the globe - Istanbul, Paris, London, Egypt, Colombia, Mumbai, Mexico to name a few. He has recorded and shared the stage with Zakir Hussain, Harry Partch, Alan Watts, Mickey Hart, John Handy, Jerry Garcia, John McLaughlin and many more. A talented and versatile bassist, Jeff Chambers is known for his impeccable timing, dynamic rhythms and improvisational dexterity. Chambers musical style is both lyrical and playful. With his distinct touch, smooth sound and innovative sensibility he travels the vast tradition of rhythm-fueled bass playing, skillfully referencing his predecessors while exploring new musical territory.
