Leader: Loving God, we come into your presence with gratitude and joy, even as we face memories of sorrow and loss. All: We remember with gratitude the traditions of our faith, the ancient stories that bind us together, and the people of God who lovingly served others, that we might know your saving love. Inspire us anew with the memory of that Passover meal when Jesus shared his last night with his friends, offering himself in servanthood and love. In Christ’s holy name, we pray. Amen. OFFERTORY Gymnopedie No.1 Erik Satie OFFERTORY HYMN “Live in Charity (Ubi Caritas)” TFWS No. 2179

Sing three times.

Live in charity and steadfast love, live in charity; God will dwell with you. (Ubi caritas et amor, ubi caritas Deus ibi est.) OFFERTORY PRAYER Leader: Loving Servant, thank you for washing our feet and for bringing us into full fellowship with you and all God’s people. We offer our resources and our very selves, that we may fulfill your law of love. Amen. INVITATION TO HOLY COMMUNION Leader: The table is prepared; the people are gathered. People: We are ready to share the holy meal and to remember. THE GREAT THANKSGIVING Leader: Christ be with you. People: And also with you. Leader: Lift up your hearts. People: We lift them up to God. Leader: Let us give our thanks to the Holy One. People: It is right to give our thanks and praise. Leader: It is a right, and good, and joyful thing always and everywhere to give our thanks to you, who led the Israelites out of bondage into freedom, who commanded them to keep the Passover as a remembrance of how you saved their firstborn from death,

5

Leader: and how you brought them out of the land of Egypt. And so, with your creatures on earth and all the heavenly chorus, we praise your name and join their unending hymn, saying: People: Holy, holy, holy One, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the one who comes in your holy name. Hosanna in the highest. Leader: Holy are you, and holy is the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, who taught us how to love and serve one another, and who poured out his life for the healing of the world. On the night before his death, Jesus took bread, gave thanks to you, broke the bread, gave it to the disciples, saying: “Take, eat; this is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” When the supper was over, Jesus took the cup, offered thanks and gave it to the disciples, saying: “Drink from this, all of you; this is my life in the new covenant, poured out for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” And so, in remembrance of your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we proclaim the mystery of faith. People: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. Leader: Pour out your Holy Spirit on all of us gathered here, and on these gifts of bread and wine. Make them be for us the body and blood of Christ, that we may be the body of Christ, in service to all who are oppressed. God of Moses and Miriam and Aaron, God of Exodus and Calvary, God of memory and hope, we praise your holy, eternal name. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER (Former Methodist Church from UMH No. 895) Our Father (or Mother, Abba, God, Creator), who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. BREAKING THE BREAD GIVING AND RECEIVING THE BREAD AND CUP

Since all stand in need of the divine grace made available in the sacrament, Holy Communion is available to all who recognize their need for this grace. Persons needing to be served in their seat should notify an usher. Please dip the bread carefully into the chalice of non-alcoholic wine and consume. Gluten-free crackers are available from each server at your request. It is customary to respond to the reception of bread and wine by saying, “Amen.”
