Laparoscopic TissueApproximation Course

Course Outline

There is one difference between an average

laparoscopic surgeon and an advanced

laparoscopic surgeon – it is the ability to take

a suture and tie a knot. A laparoscopic

surgeon can't or does not progress to

advanced procedures without this in his /

her armamentarium. It is this ability that can

even get a surgeon out of difficult situations

in basic laparoscopic procedures.

This course is designed to give the

participants an in-depth and step-by-step

understanding with extensive hands-on

experience of laparoscopic knot tying and

suturing. Dedicated / expert National faculty

will be by your side to help and guide you

through each step.

Course Objectives

Learn to tie laparoscopic extracorporeal

knot

Learn to tie laparoscopic intracorporeal

knot

Learn to make an endoloop

Learn to take interrupted and

continuous intracorporeal sutures

Course Duration: 2 DaysCourse Fees (inclusive of Service Tax): Practicing Surgeons: Rs 15,000/-

*Surgical Residents: Rs. 8,000/-*Attach photocopy of latest identity card of the teaching institute, with registration form.

Laparoscopic HerniaSurgery Course

Course Outline

If a laparoscopic surgeon aspires to learn a

procedure correctly, it should be repair of a

hernia. A common surgical condition,

almost always encountered by a surgeon in

practice, laparoscopic repair should be in

the surgeon's armamentarium as patient

demand continues to increase. While the

steps of most laparoscopic operations are

the same as those of open surgery, steps of

surgery in laparoscopic hernia repair –

inguinal or ventral are different. It is essential

therefore to revisit this concept to learn the

laparoscopic anatomy and procedural steps

to avoid recurrences and complications.

The world of prosthetic material used in

hernia surgery is ever-expanding and there

is a plethora of products available today.

Choosing the right prosthetic material and

the correct method of mesh fixation is

paramount to optimal outcome. This

two-day course encompasses step-by-step

approach to overcome the problems faced

by a surgeon performing laparoscopic

hernia repair.

Course Objectives

To learn anatomy of inguinal area as viewed at

laparoscopy

To learn trans-abdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) inguinal

hernia repair

To learn totally extraperitoneal (TEP) inguinal hernia

repair

To learn laparoscopic intraperitonealonlay (IPOM) and

trans-abdominal partially extraperitoneal (TAPE)

methods of repairing ventral and incisional hernias

To understand the characteristics of various prosthetic

materials to help in making the right choice

To experience mesh fixation using mechanical devices

and suturing

To understand prevention and management of

complications of laparoscopic hernia surgery

To understand component separation for large ventral

hernias.

Who Should Attend ?

Surgeons with previous experience of laparoscopic

surgery who wish to progress to laparoscopic hernia

surgery

Experienced surgeons who have “hesitated” to embark

on laparoscopic hernia surgery

Course Outline

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD),

achalasia cardia and paraesophageal hernia

are common disorders that are eminently

suitable for laparoscopic treatment. The

superiority of laparoscopic treatment for all

these disorders has been confirmed in the

To understand the workup of patients

with GERD, achalasia and

paraesophageal hernias

Familiarize with laparoscopic anatomy

of the hiatal region and the variations

Understand step-by-step approach to
