With nearly 135 years of experience training a global workforce the brand is firmly established and Berlitz is now the natural choice for individuals and companies internationally.

We have a strong reputation for excellence and quality, our customer care is superb and our close links to business and industry have allowed us to develop our methodology and resources to meet the demands of today’s workplace.

We know that accelerated learning depends on low teacher to student ratios which is why we have perfected our expertise with one-to-one and small groups.

We also know that the best way to learn a language is to study in a country where it is spoken. That is why here in the UK, the home of English, we offer the fastest most efficient route to learning English. So, if you would like to study English with us in the UK then please get in touch. We are here to help you to learn the skills you need for success.

In July 1878 Maximilian Berlitz opened the first Berlitz school in Providence, Rhode Island and introduced to the world the Berlitz Method. This method used new and exciting techniques which revolutionised language teaching.

The popularity and success of the Berlitz Method was instant and from the 19th century to the 21st century Berlitz continued to expand, till today there are over 550 Berlitz Centres located in more than 70 countries.

The main principles underpinning the Berlitz Method are:

language goals.

instructors provide targeted instruction.

classroom.

and listening skills.

learned intuitively.

balance between accuracy and fluency.

Using practical orientation aids, we work with you during lessons to find out how you prefer to learn and how you learn most effectively. Your personal learning strategy thus becomes part of the course. The choice of course materials also follows this principle and is based on your needs.

A Berlitz English Total Immersion® course runs from 9.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday, and is our most intensive programme (a total of 60 lessons per week). In addition to the one-to-one tuition, each day includes a lesson with two teachers present, allowing natural use of third person verbs and expressions. The programme includes a working lunch, where you continue to practise in a social context, and a multi-media lesson using the newest material developed by Berlitz each day. Total Immersion creates a miniature target-language environment and is highly effective.

The Crash course is our less intensive one-to-one full-time course, comprising 40 lessons per week. It is still a highly effective course and will push your language abilites forward significantly.

The little brother of the Crash Course – This course gives you 25 lessons per week and retains all the benefits of one-to-one teaching but during the mornings only. Perfect for those who wish to spend their afternoons either in leisure or work.

The Semi-Private course is also a 25 lesson course and offers the opportunity to study with students at a similar level. This creates a lot of interesting opportunities to work together in the classroom. The maximum number of students is limited to four.

This is one of our most popular courses. Students study as a small group in the mornings for five lessons each day and have two lessons of one-on-one tuition each afternoon. This offers the student the opportunity to focus on any particular problems that they had in the morning class.

*One lesson = 45 minutes

Maximilian Berlitz first innovated the Berlitz Method teaching style in 1878, and the effective, conversational approach has remained at the heart of the company’s language instruction ever since. Presenting practical vocabulary and grammar in the context of real-life situations, the Berlitz Method focuses all speaking on learning the target language. Instructors use a communicative approach based on listening and speaking, supplementing study with relevant reading and writing exercises, so students take on a new language the same way they did their first — with natural ease.

Our standard courses offer you everything from a highly intensive schedule to a more relaxed programme of study.

The content of the private courses can be tailored to suit your individual needs. You may, for example, wish to concentrate on legal English or perhaps to prepare for a specific occasion such as a meeting or presentation. Our normal focus is on strengthening your fluency and comprehension skills to ensure that you have the knowledge and confidence to speak and understand English to the best of your ability.

We work hard to consolidate and improve you grammatical knowledge and accuracy, we build your vocabulary and we ensure that your pronunciation is as correct as possible.
