Language Arts Notebook / Journals
Must bring Language Arts Notebook Everyday!
Language Arts notebook for agenda, journal entries, and lecture notes.
They must complete the notes, agenda, and journal entry if returning from an absence.
These are checked at the end of each quarter! (100pts)

Outside Reading
•300 pages / quarter•This quarter, students must complete a reading log each week.•They should aim for 120 minutes/week.•They are exempt from 120 minutes a week once they pass their book talk of 300 pages.•Book talks each quarter•See Book Talk Frequently Asked Questions handout

When is my child’s book talk?
• See what your son or daughter signed up to read. List is on the cabinet.
• See the book talk interview date.
• Students may not make up a missed interview. The only exception is an excused absence. Students may always conduct a book talk earlier then the sign up date. See schedule posted on the cabinet.

Common Core
This year’s instruction and learning will look different this year as we transition to the new Common Core Standards.
Students should be prepared for more writing, non-fiction expository texts, critical thinking, and 21st century skills.

Students who are conditional ready must earn a C or better in 12th grade ERWC course to place into Freshman English.
