SRC Last Tuesday night the 14th August, some honorary guests made a brave appearance at the School Council meeting. Rachel, Reuben, James, Grace and Noam from Lane Cove’s Student Representative Council brought their ideas, plans and sales pitch to get the members of the school council on board for their new playground designs. These designs were made in collaboration with the team at Urban Landscapes who have been working with the SRC over this year. The pitch was successful and the School Council is on board with the new designs thanks to the convincing and confident presentation by these 5 passionate students. Ms Maynard, Ms Comensoli & Ms Falkingham – SRC Co-ordinators

Welcome to Term 3, Week 5 of LCPS Music Programme for 2018. Senior Strings at Ryde Eisteddfod Congratulations to Senior Strings who performed magnificently in the Ryde Eisteddfod last week. The adjudicator made some lovely comments about their performance and they did really well. Thank you to the children whose good behavior was comment on by organisers. Thank you to all the parents who assisted in transporting the children to and from the performance and to Saya B for accompanying the Senior Strings. Music Trivia Night has been postponed – new date to be advised! We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Anyone who has not already been contacted in regard to pre-purchased tables contact Michelle at [email protected].

Hire Instruments A big thankyou to Alex M who has sold all our old and retired instruments on ebay. She has not only raised valuable funds which are being reinvested in new instruments but our old instruments are going to have a new lease of life elsewhere and are not going into landfill. Thankyou also to our former instrument officer, Caroline M, and latterly Shaunagh A, who have both spent a lot of hours sorting through all the instruments to work out which ones needed to be retired. We have retired and sold about 40 instruments. We have cleared out all the cupboards and a new order has been established. We found instruments that have been missing for several years. We have re-numbered all the instruments in a systematic way which allows for future additions. We are about to continue the reinvestment in new instruments which began last year with funds raised by the Trivia night. Thankyou also to Sam S, Shaunagh A and Anne C and all the members of the committee for their work in creating a formal asset register and sorting out the instruments. Help Wanted! Music Committee Roles We are still looking for some help in some very specific roles and would love some people to volunteer.

Page 5 Lane Cove Loop Instrument Officer Required: We are now looking for someone to take over the management and future investment of the instruments. It is not too time consuming. No experience is necessary and no need to know much about instruments. It would suit someone who loves organization and is good with spreadsheets. Events Convenor: This role report to the Convenors and project manages 4-5 events with the assistance of volunteers. If you can help with any of these roles, please contact Michelle at [email protected]

We are in the process of renumbering and re tagging all the instruments that are currently missing a tag. Your child’s instrument should have a new red tag on the case with the LCPS phone number and a new instrument number on it. DO NOT REMOVE THIS TAG and please notify us if it falls off or you don’t get one by the end of term.
