Historic Fountain House site of plaza design

Existing Conditions

Design FeaturesFountain House stormwater is collected in downspout basins and transported through recycled cobble runnels into stormwater planters. Fixed boulders and removable seating provide versatile and unique elements for plaza visitors. Raised intersection draws people safely into the plaza. Fountains allow people to interact with the water while creating iconic features commemorating the former historic fountains.

DesignThis campus entrance bed, inspired by seasonal color, uses plantings that create warm and cool color masses that can be enjoyed by both pedestrians and drivers. Central to the design is a winding band of grasses, swaying amongst the rigid forms of the shrubs and carrying your eye through the entire composition.se

DesignThe Gilbert House Center for sustainability is located on the Temple Ambler Campus. Its purpose, reflected in its design, is to provide visitors with an educational example of residential sustainability. Working with the existing woodland, the planting palette consists of native meadow grasses, perennials and ferns. Winding boardwalks give visitors an above view of the planted woodland and meadow. Garden plots and an outdoor classroom adds an interactive and educational aspect for students and community members to take part in.

DesignBuckingham, Pennsylvania, once a quaint cross roads town, has in recent years fallen victim to urban sprawl and heavy arterial traffic. The redesign incorporates elements of Transit Oriented Development and neotraditional town layout. The master plan includes a restructuring of major arterials, emphasis on a commercial core, walkable neighborhoods, and a green space system linked by recreational trails.
