The Final Placement season (Nov/Dec) for the academic year2013-14 has been an extremely fruitful one for the students of
the 2012-14 batch of MBA programs. Despite the bleak job mar-
ket scenario, our regular recruiters have again shown confidence
by hiring from NMIMS, Mumbai in good numbers and offering
excellent profiles to students. We are extremely proud to have
had some of the biggest names in the corporate world participat-
ing in our placements for the first time. Placements shall resume
in Jan with the participation of many more visiting the campus for
recruitments.
Our esteemed Alumni have also been very supportive of activities
like Paramarsh , where students of the MBA programs get to in-
teract with alumni from different industries and understand first
hand how to plan their career post their MBA.
Over 90 PPOs/PPIs have been received for the current batch. This speaks about the excellent quality of talent. The offers indi-
cate the motive of companies to have a long term approach and
invest in talent. The efforts go in selecting the right intern, watch-
ing the performance and awarding the offer. The selection proc-ess appears to have become tougher with the inclusion of several
rounds. Thus the internship selection process is scheduled in a
phased manner with the intention to give the company & the stu-
dent enough time to evaluate and understand the fit, thereby
resulting in PPOs/PPIs being awarded after the internship. Com-
panies have appreciated this aspect, and view it is a preferred
mode of hiring.
The faith of the corporate world has been reposed yet again,
with companies across sectors selecting interns in good numbers.Seeing the talent, enthusiasm, and the excellent quality of the
students, a few visited the campus multiple times for a variety of
roles and opportunities. Apart from the loyal recruiters we have
the participation of new ones this time and will be hosting many
more during the next trimester.

Paragana 2013
Through ten years of its existence, PARAGANA has blos-
somed into one of countrys biggest B -School festivals. The
word Paragana in Sanskrit means Pollination. This year,
the theme of our fest Ignited Minds - Catalyst4Change
stems from the experiences that INDIA as a nation has gath-
ered over the past decade, embracing them and Unleashingthe Power Within INDIA .
Indias vividness and diversity is interpreted differently by
every individual. We however draw parallels not from the
glorious past but a brighter future, not from the nation
branding campaigns built on colourful logos or fancy slogans
but discussing the emergent reality and imminent future. To
declare the event open and invite our young minds to be a
part of this experience, we had Mr. Prahlad Kakar (Founder
and Director of Genesis Film Production) give us his inter-
pretation of Ignited Minds in the Opening Ceremony on No-vember 14, 2013. Later that night Indian Ocean enchanted
us with their phenomenal performance after which the
stage was set on fire by the razzle-dazzle of the fashion
show at the JRM Grounds. Next on November 15, 2013, the
battle horns were sounded as all the students went to war
with the on-ground events kicking off. All the Cells@SBM
had the preliminary rounds of their events and the best of
the brightest made their way to the final rounds after hours
of deliberation.
November 16, 2013 was the Corporate Seminars at The La-
lit, Mumbai, which was marked by several industry stalwarts
and experts sharing the wealth of their experience and in-
sight and encouraging the young minds to harness their true
potential and make good of it to put India at the helm of the
world.
On the final day of this festival, all the Cells@SBM con-
ducted the finales of their events making the brightest stu-
dents from all the best B Schools of India fight for glory in abattle of wits.

SRF Events
This quarter saw a gamut of events by the Social Responsi-
bility Forum. Highlighting a few includes Vinamrata (October
3, 2013) and the Blood Donation Drive (November 22,2013). Elders are the support systems for young people and
form the backbone of our family and society. Their contribu-
tions to the overall development of the society is immensely
significant. In an effort to engage the elderly and make themfeel special and valued beyond their immediate surround-
ings, Social Responsibility Forum visited an old-age home to
spend time with the elderly and make them happy. The pur-
pose was simple to spread joy on the joy of giving week!
The old-age home visited was Jeevan Asha (Society of thehelpers of Mary). SRF members were there from 3.30pm to
6pm, and they spent quality time with the elderly and en-
gaged them in different activities.
Housie : The elderly enjoyed this simple yet fun game to thecore! Multiple prizes were distributed and the game was
really interactive and fun. One could hear them demanding
for their marked numbers!
Guess the song : 5 teams were made and instrumental songs
of the 1960s era were played. The teams had to guess
those songs. Prizes were distributed to all members of the
winning teams.
Two students of SRF played the guitar and sang. The elderly
were really involved and also suggested some songs. Finally,
everyone sang along and clapped to the tunes of the old
melodious songs. One of them also quoted a few shayaris!
Apart from the fun activities, SRF gifted a DVD player and a
pair of speakers for the old-age home. They enjoy music a
lot, and the gift was just perfect for their entertainment. SRF
also provided eatables and groceries to aid them.

SummIT Khoj, The Online Treasure HuntAs a part of Paragana13, SummIT conducted its flagship
event- KHOJ on 16th and 17th November 2013.
The event received an overwhelming response from 608
participants from all over the country and the bar was raised
when KHOJ witnessed an international team participating
too. The event was in the format of an online treasure hunt
consisting of thirty mind boggling questions, divided be-
tween two nights. The entire event went on for more than
12 hours, reaching the pinnacle of excitement on the secondnight. The teams had to use internet and their search en-
gines and also apply their minds to crack the code for each
level. The clues for each question were hidden on the web-
page of the question itself like on the title bar, URL, source
code etc. Moreover, discussion threads on SummIT Face-
book page moderated by NMIMS SummIT team also pro-
vided assistance whenever required.
The first round, on November 16, 2013, saw close to a thou-
sand Facebook comments on the discussion thread and a
total of 1386 comments on both days. The intriguing ques-tions which covered a wide spectrum of topics like technol-
ogy, sports, business, entertainment, mythology etc. gen-
erated a lot of animated dialogues and encouraged partici-
pants to stimulate their grey cells to find the answers.
After the completion of the first set of 20 questions, the top
55 teams were selected to play the second and final round,
which promised trickier questions, more obscure clues and
the ultimate frantic chase to reach the glory bound end.
Needless to say, many teams gave up half-way through
when faced with such a daunting task.
But finally one team persevered and with a combination of
skill, intelligence and speed and reached the treasure,
thereby winning huge rewards and acclaim.
All in all, KHOJ was a resounding success.

Ecolibria EcoVichar
The premier event of Ecoilibria , Ecovichar- Crack the Econo-mist Code , concluded on 17 th November 2013 after span-
ning a duration of 3 weeks. It saw participation from all parts
of the country and finished with a riveting grand finale that
saw the team of Aman Jain and Sudipto Kumar Saha from
NMIMS claiming victory in the end.
It all started with the realization of the question that needed
to be asked from the participants. Everyone from the
Ecolibria team came up with a plethora of topics for theevent. However, the case was decided during an idle discus-
sion over Vada-Pav. The major issue that everyone unani-
mously agreed upon was the current condition of the Indian
economy and then began the task of collating up a case that
could be put on the pedestal created by precedent cases and
events by Ecolibria. The title of the case study was
Vision 2022 India at 75
The event commenced before the Diwali break to allow the
participants to ponder over some of the critical issues whichthe country is dealing with while burning a few crackers and
munching over the sweets. Although, a few entries came
from the proverbial book worms during the break, the flood-
gates opened only after the break was over when students
had returned with refreshed energy and creative thoughts
flowing.
If cracking the case was difficult, choosing the finalists was
more so, few of them were clearly ahead of the pack but the
remaining posed a very tough decision. Finally after much
deliberation, 6 teams were chosen to fight for one of thebiggest events at Paragana.
The D-Day arrived on a typical November morning. The par-
ticipants arrived brimming with confidence and energy alike.
Even more filled with anticipation were the judges, Mr Shiri-
kant Shetty , Head of Equity Advisory at Motilal Oswal and
Mr Indranil Deb, Principal of Mobius Strip Capital Advisors,
both of them eager to listen to the future of the industries
and potential scouts for employees alike.
After presentations and subsequent Q&A rounds of each
team, 3 hours and a few overjoyed and anxious faces later,
the results were revealed. It was a clean sweep for
SBM,NMIMS as the teams of Aditi Kaul and Sindhu Gorre-
pati, Rohan Mittal and Varun Bhalla, Aman Jain and Sudipto
Kumar Saha won the 3 rd , 2 nd and 1 st prizes respectively.
