Landmarks is an independent specialist day college for young people with learning disabilities and difficulties. The college offers a wide range of programmes that are tailored to each individual’s needs.

Landmarks operate from several sites across; Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire, with our main site located in Eckington, S21 4EF.

Landmarks has several satellite provisions in Rotherham, Nottingham city Centre and a “real-life” hospitality and catering facilitate in Rainworth, Mansfield. These environments enable us to provide a range of personal and vocational training opportunities including:

Our staff are required to work on a range of different sites, including; college campuses, employer’s premises or communities local to learner homes. There may also be a requirement to transport learners in your own car. Insurance implications are reimbursed. Mileage and expenses are provided for travel during the working day.

All our staff must undertake an enhanced DBS check and provide two satisfactory references. They should be prepared to undertake training and development and adhere to the principles, policies and procedures of Landmarks at all times.

Job Purpose:

Our Personal Tutors are employed to manage a high quality learning experience for learners. They should be fully qualified, qualified by experience or working towards a teaching qualification. In order to do this, they need to:

Possess good organisational skills; Be good communicators; Be flexible and adaptable; Need to be creative and innovative with good specialist and subject

knowledge; Be capable of managing a challenging workload, with good time

management skills and an ability to deliver to deadlines.

Main Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include, but are not restricted to:

Plan and deliver sessions; the subject to be based on suitable skills and experience;

Demonstrate high quality teaching for learners with complex and profound needs;

Manage all aspects of the learner experience; RARPA, accredited & non-accredited learning outcomes;

Manage the learner journey process; Initial Assessment, Induction, Baseline Assessment and summaries, set appropriate long and medium term goals, monitor progress and achievement of targets linked to goals, produce termly holistic reports to accompany learner journey reports;

Responsible for maintaining and updating personal learner files; Liaise with home on learner issues and build effective relationships

with parents/carers on regular basis; Manage all aspects of Transition-In and Transition-Out for your Tutor

group. This includes Transition-In day preparation, planning for an effective induction, preparing and attending Person Centred Review meetings with parents/funders/social workers, liaising with external agencies to secure good housing, employment and education outcomes for individuals on leaving college and monitoring progress beyond Landmarks on a regular basis;

Instruct learners in British Values, Equality and Diversity, Social, Moral, Spiritual, Cultural and basic subject matter as directed by college leaders;

Provide instruction by which learners develop skills, knowledge and the ability to make judgments about the work they produce;

Participate in curriculum and other quality improvement initiatives; Utilise to good effect the specialist support of SaLT and OT services; Provide detailed and accurate information about learner’s progress

and performance; Responsible for direction of support staff; Possibility to teach on a farm, working with animals who are being

bred for the food market; Resolve learner issues and concerns; Deliver personal care and support which meet or exceed learners’

requirement, promoting independence throughout; Participate in the observation process for the Education provision

that is linked to quality improvement; Deliver English, mathematics and Digital Technology in all sessions; Undertake training as and when necessary; Participate in the staff appraisal and supervision process; Attend internal meetings, briefings and other forums as required.

Person Specification:

The selection process will involve assessments being made on the extent to which applicants meet the criteria listed in the table below.

Essential Desirable

Qualifications A qualified teaching qualification; Cert-ed / PGCE or equivalent.

Minimum of L2 Maths and English.

A degree in an appropriate discipline.

QTLS / QTS.

A’Level mathematics or English.

Experience Significant experience teaching a vocational curriculum in a similar organisation (Pre Entry – Level 2);

Working with learners with additional needs.

Delivering GCSE mathematics and English.

Duke of Edingburgh, or willingness to train.

Skills Able to work independently and in a team and to motivate others;

Attention to detail;

Driven to achieve results and succeed;

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to solve problems and use initiative;

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

Competent user of computers, including use of MS Office.

Team player.

Natural motivator.

Knowledge Knowledge of current practice in a vocational and/or functional skills education environment;

In-depth understanding of Ofsted's Education Inspection Framework (EIF).

Knowledge of transition planning and outcomes for LLDD;

Knowledge of assessment processes in an LLDD environment;

Good knowledge of how accreditation and RARPAD can be used to evidence progress in a similar environment.
