Partner to 30 leading commercial, military, business, regional and helicopter airframers, our extensive capabilities cover the complete lifecycle of our products, from design to development, manufacture to in-service support.

By leveraging highly complementary products and technologies, we are able to take a more holistic approach to the business. Yet each division has its own market focus to provide fully tailored solutions for customers.

Landing Gear and Systems Integration Division We are a world leader in the design, manufacture and support of landing gear and integrated systems, and partner to an exhaustive range of civil, military, regional and business programs.

Systems Equipment Division We have a leading market position in the supply of a range of landing systems equipment, including steering, extension and retraction, braking and monitoring systems and supporting over 10,000 aircraft in service.

Wheels and Brakes Division We are a world leader in carbon brakes, holding close to 50% worldwide market share in this business segment.

Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Division We are a major player in landing system MRO, backed by a worldwide network of 10 repair stations in three continents and servicing 500 customers.

Messier-Bugatti-Dowty is a company that’s always looking to the future. We put a lot of time and energy into the research and development of new products, ensuring that the future generation of landing and braking systems will be lighter, quieter, more cost-efficient and robust.

New MaterialsMessier-Bugatti-Dowty pioneered the introduction of carbon brakes, a revolution that has reduced weight compared to steel brakes by 50%. On key structural components of landing gear and systems equipment, we’re also using lighter composite and titanium materials. And for operators, weight reduction translates into direct fuel savings and lower CO2 emissions.

Electric TechnologiesGreater efficiency and lower operational costs have also been the result of our move to more electric systems. Working alongside Boeing, we’ve equipped the new 787 Dreamliner with our electric brakes and we are actively contributing to Safran/Honeywell’s electric green taxiing system (EGTS), which enables aircraft to move autonomously on airport taxiways, without the need for thrust from the main engines.

Health MonitoringMessier-Bugatti-Dowty is also introducing new technologies to better detect the wear and tear of landing gear systems, allowing for better in-service monitoring of equipment and improved operational availability.

Green CredentialsDeveloping greener products and managing greener operations is central to our long-term company vision. Not only are we reducing greenhouse emissions, but we are also investing in new surface treatments, including the substitution of traditional chrome and cadmium plating with more environmentally responsible processes.
