2ETM watch

• The ETM watch relies on the SATURN-01 profiler being in operation (which is not the case of this time)

• When the profiler is not in operation, the SATURN-01 ADP backscatter might be useful to think about the timing of the ETM; however, the ETM watch does not take advantage of that sensor

• North Channel near A-M bridge• Two elements: bottom node

and profiler• SATURN-01 bottom node

installed with:– Upward-looking ADP (velocities and

backscatter)– CT

• SATURN-01 profiler removed Apr 27, to be re-installed May 1. Sensor package in profiler:– CT, FLNTU, DO, Phycoerythrin,

Phytopfash– Nitrate malfunctioned– LISST status unknown

• Real-time telemetry

4SATURN-02

• Installed since April 24• Near-plume at ~35m depth• Sensor package:

– Downward-looking ADP– CT at 1 (“surface”), 6, 11, 16, 21 and

35 (“bottom”) meters– Surface DO, FLNTU, CDOM, nitrate,

Multi-exciter– Bottom DO– Met station: PAR, air temperature

and pressure, winds• Real-time telemetry and web

display. Exceptions: – Bottom CT and DO are not

reporting in real time, are believed to be self-recording.

– ADP not displayed on the web

• Installed• South Channel• Ports at three levels (2.4, 8.2

and 13m)• Sensor package:

– CT, FLNTU, DO, CDOM, nitrate, Phytoflash, Phycoerythrin

7Bottom node

• Installed since April 27• North Channel, at 46 14.441' N

123 56.151' WNote: The location is just beyond the downstream edge of the cable zone and as far from the once again active dredge spoil disposal site. Please try not to anchor at this location!

• Sensor package:– Upward-looking ADP– CT

• Self-recording

8About F26 (some key info still missing)

Forecasts circulation and 4 classes of sediments, 2 days ahead• Is launched at 10:15am daily (“day 1”)• Finishes around 6.5h after the launch• Many basic forecast products are available 8h after the launch, some the

day after the launch ~6-7:00AM; model-data comparisons are updated for the duration of the forecast http://www.stccmop.org/datamart/virtualcolumbiariver/forecasts/products?fcast=f26&run=today

• Transect animator is available 8h after the launch http://www.stccmop.org/datamart/virtualcolumbiariver/forecasts/products/transectanimator (Link is correct, but does not open from powerpoint; copy and paste to browser)

• SATURN-01 comparisons are available ~7:45am the day after the launch http://amb6400a.stccmop.org/images/saturn01_model_data_comparison.html

• Files for AUV team are available ~8.5h after the launch http://www.stccmop.org/forecasts/f26/2012-121/process/north_channel/north_channel_f26_2012-121_day_1.mathttp://www.stccmop.org/forecasts/f26/2012-121/process/north_channel/north_channel_f26_2012-121_day_2.mat http://www.stccmop.org/forecasts/f26/2012-121/process/north_channel/north_channel_f26_2012-121_day_3.mat
