SOIL POLUTION

Page 2: Land pollution

This type of contamination or pollution typically arises from failure due to corrosion of underground storage tanks or of the pipes that associated with them, historical disposal of coal ash, application of pesticides, percolation of contaminated surface water to subsurface strata, oil and fuel dumping, leaching of waste from landfills or direct discharge of industrial waste to the soil. The most common chemicals involved are petroleum hydrocarbons, solvents, lead, pesticides, and other heavy metals. The occurrence of this phenomenon is correlated with the degree of industrialization and intensities of chemical usage.

SOIL POLLUTION

We discuss it, because we care with our environment, especially soil in Indonesia and it is one of important factors in our live.

Land pollution is when the land/soil gets polluted by waste or garbage. Land pollution can also be caused by misusing our natural resources like cutting down trees. This causes soil erosion and contamination of our water.

So, we must keep the environment especially soil by doing 3R, and all ways to care ous soil, because it is so very important for human live.

Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Minimize the amount of trash going to our landfills and aggressively recycle, especially trash like batteries, tires, and plastics that leach harmful chemicals and heavy metals. Do not burn trash, particularly plastics or tires, because the residue in the smoke will drift down and pollute the soil. Be diligent about picking up and disposal of trash. Dispose of animal waste into a septic or sewage system as promptly as possible do not leave it on the lawn or place it in a storm drain.
