This Indenture made this 17 th day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty two between Joseph Cotton of the County of Fayette and State of Tennessee of the one part and George Anderson of the County of Fayette of aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Joseph Cotton for and in consideration of the sum of six thousand Six hundred and sixty five dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargain sold align and confirmed unto the said George Anderson his heirs and assigns two tracts or parcels of Land adjoining each other situated in the County of Fayette aforesaid in the Tenth Surveyors district sixth Range and first section and bounded as follows viz, the one tract beginning at the South east corner of a tract of land Granted by the State of Tennessee to Ralph Graves entry No. 157 for 274 acres (it being a part of said tract) running thence west 28 poles to a Stake at four black oak pointers thence N 23 degrees E 60 poles to a Stake and hickory thence N 79 E 55 poles to a black oak the S. W. corner of the Trustee tract thence South to the beginning containing thirty Eight an half acres be the same more or less the other tract Beginning at the same place as the other that is the South east corner of Ralph Graves Entry No. 157 for 274 acres and running thence South four hundred and twenty poles to two hickories thence west one hundred and five poles to a black oak on the east boundary

line of Entry No. 163 in the name of Thos. P. Deveraux thence North two hundred and

thirty nine poles and two tenths to a maple and poplar the N. E. corner of said

Deveraux’s Entry aforesaid thence west with his line one hundred and eleven poles

and seven tenths of a pole to a Stake Thence north one hundred and Eighty poles and

eight tenths of a pole to a white oak and gum thence East three hundred and six poles

and seven tenths of a pole to the beginning containing by estimation Six hundred and

thirty eight 638 acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold the said two tracts

of land above described to him the said George Anderson his heirs and assigns

forever to his and their only proper use and behoof and the said Joseph Cotton doth

for himself his heirs executors & administrators covenant and agree to and with the said

George Anderson his heirs and assigns that he is served and possessed of the good

and lawful title to the two tracts of land hereby sold and conveyed and that he hath full

power to grant and convey the same according to the true intent and meaning of these

presents and also that the said Joseph Cotton doth for himself his heirs etc. covenant

& agree to warrant and defend the said bargained premises with all their improvements

rights tenements and hereditaments appertaining to the same to him the said George

Anderson his heirs assigns against the claim or claims of all and every person or

persons whatsoever. In Witness whereof he hath hereunto set his hand and seal the

day and year first above written. Signed sealed and delivered in presence of
