-LAND CLEARING / TREE REMOVAL-BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATION PACKET

The following application is to be used for the debrushing and tree removal when not done in conjunction with a site construction project; the debrushing, grading, excavating, filling and installation of utilities of land after site construction plans have been approved; the early preparation of debrushing, grading, excavating, and filling only on special occasions prior to site construction approval; or request to remove a tree.

Step 1 - Verify allowance and standards: Before any excavation or tree removal occurs, often barricades, inspections and approval must be obtained. Please contact the Planning Division at (772)597-8281 to discuss allowance, applicable standards and process prior to submittal.

Please be sure to review all application and plan requirements to adequately determine what documents are necessary at time of submittal. If you are unsure or have questions regarding permits, please contact the Building Division at (772)597-8281 .

Step 2 - Application and Plan Requirements: Complete the application in its entirety and create plan(s): Application for all projects are to include:

o If work is done by the owner, Owner Builder affidavit is required.o A list of species, size(Diameter as measured 4-1/2 feet above grade), and location of tree(s)

proposed to be removed.Step 3 - Submit: Submit the application, associated documents and plans and review fees by one of the following ways:

payment prior to processing the application.

Step 4 – Staff Review: Staff will review the proposed request for compliance with Village standards and will offer any applicable comments.

Step 5 – Permit Issuance and Construction: Once approved, a permit is issued and construction can start.

Notes of Importance:

The application must be completed in its entirety and the permit review fee must be provided at time of submittal. Incomplete applications and failure to pay at time of submittal will not be accepted;

Site and land clearing permits allow for the debrushing, grading, excavation, fill and installation of utilities in conjunction with an approved site construction plan;

All tree(s) that are called out to be preserved on the site construction plans must be barricaded in accordance with the Land Development Regulation;

Review the Village of Indiantown Land Development Regulations Section 4-5 for requirements. A permit is not required to trim a tree as long as you do not severely cut back limbs to stubs larger

than 3 (three) inches in diameter within the tree’s crown to such a degree so as to remove more than approximately one-third of the normal canopy and disfigure the tree; and

A permit is not required if the use of the property is single family residential or duplex, and the tree to be removed is not a protected species. Contact the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer services at (800)352-9832 for protected species list.

A landowner is exempt, under the following conditions, from the requirement to obtain a permit per Sec.4-5 of the Village Land Development Regulation for the removal of any vegetation; If the use of the property is single-family residential or duplex, and the tree to be removed is not a protected species.

VILLAGE OF INDIANTOWN TREE REMOVAL

INSPECTION APPLICATION

A permit is required for the removal, alteration or relocation for trees located on residential and commercial properties. Residential properties require a permit for all specimen trees larger than 30 inches DBH. Commercial properties require a permit for all trees over 4 inches DBH. Once an application is submitted, a tree inspection will be conducted to ensure compliance with the removal standards outlined by the Land Development Regulation.

Any tree that has received a tree permit is to be replaced with the following: • Tree for tree replacement (i.e. if two trees are removed, two trees are to be planted;• Specimen trees are to be replaced by the same species with the potential for comparable size and

quality;• Species selection and replacement requirements are subject to the Florida Plant List.

Tree removal inspections require a minimum of 4 business days for processing. Removal of any tree prior to permit issuance could result in Code Enforcement action. Please provide the following information to be used for the inspection of the tree(s):
