GARY NOWAK BRAD HILL
MEMBER OF THE MONTH EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
President’s Message by Joseph Zdarsky
Dear Fellow Club Members,
Summer weather finally has arrived. The past week and Memorial Day weekend were beauti-
ful and for the first time this year it was a pleasure to seek a shower, and not a hot toddy, after play-
ing 18 holes. The dry weather has provided most of us with the extra roll on our drives to remind us
how far we hit it 20 years ago.
The Board of Directors has completed a comprehensive updating and revision of our Rules
and Regulations in recent weeks. This is a codification of a number of rule changes adopted over the
past several years which were announced in the Newsletter or direct correspondence, but not always
included in the compilation, as well as some new provisions. For example, we have been reserving
tee times one week in advance for as long as I can remember, but the Rules contained a complicated
system referring to an 8 a.m. Monday deadline. Also, a few years ago the Board approved a 10 a.m.
start on weekends for Associate Spouses of Primary members, but the published Rules still said 11
a.m. Dress standards have been clarified to make it easier for our professional staff to administer
and enforce the code. For example, the list of unacceptable clothing now includes cargo shorts and
any form of denim, and ladies must have a top that has a collar or sleeves and tank tops are not al-
lowed.
Another important addition is the definition of a “significant other” included within the cate-
gory of Associate Spouse. We had recognized spousal equivalents on an ad hoc basis previously, but
the time had come to formalize this category. A summary of the Rules affected is included in this
newsletter immediately below to assist those interested in reviewing the language. The full set of
Rules, as amended, is available through the LCC website.
Dress codes and the Rules in general are always controversial subjects. There is a movement
nationally to liberalize club dress standards. We at Lancaster CC have recognized that trend, such as
by discontinuing Black Tie dress at the Invitational Tournament Dinner several years ago. However,
one of the differences between golf at a private club and a public course is that our game at LCC is
played (for the most part) with the dignified, polite and gentlemanly manner that has characterized
golf tradition for decades. Appropriately dressed golfers are just showing the same respect for the
game as a businessman does when he wears a suit and tie to an important meeting,
The sprinkler head distances have all been measured and we expect the yardage markers to be
affixed to the new sprinklers any day. The measurements of some of the current 100 and 150 yard
markers have been found to be inaccurate, and they will be corrected. The wooden 150 yard posts,
which make mowing difficult, will be removed as unnecessary once the markings are added to the
sprinklers. The other course improvements are coming along nicely.
We have an outstanding country club. Please promote it with your friends and business asso-
ciates, since membership growth is the key for every club in this district. See you on the course.

Manager’s Notes by Mark A. Maier
As I’m wri ng this month’s ar cle we are concluding the Memorial Day weekend, the first Men’s major event (Member/Member,)
we have completed four weeks of Men’s and Ladies’ Leagues, and with a great weather weekend, the opening of the pool.
Thank you for suppor ng the pool this past weekend - the pool staff received many compliments! Also, as you know, at the begin-
ning of the golf season we underwent major staff changes in the food and beverage opera on. I would like to express much appre-
cia on and thanks for your support and understanding. I believe our current staff members are great individuals who are invested
in learning the LCC culture and are s ll growing. Addi onal me and resources have been devoted to training and will con nue un l
we feel comfortable. Nothing is perfect, and I know we have had a few goofs, but all in all I’m pleased with the progress. To all of
you who have expressed construc ve sugges ons and have been outwardly suppor ve and encouraging of their efforts, it is greatly
appreciated by me, and most importantly, the staff. Once again, the fabric of our membership and support of your club is what
makes LCC so great!
Moving forward, we have completed all the details for the Independence Day celebra on on July 3rd
, and began our member spon-
sorship program for this event, which is always a great success. Please consider suppor ng this fun, family celebra on! Each spon-
sorship level is designed to return a value approximately equal to your contribu on in the form of golf and guest passes, admission
to the event, etc. By the end of this week we will be mailing out the le ers for 69th
Annual Men’s Invita onal and this premier event
will feature a few new twists. Closing out the week we are looking forward to the Ladies’ Member/Member.
In closing, thank you to all of our members who par cipated in our new member referral program. Our spring offer concluded May
31, 2016 and as stated we will begin a new stage in our membership program. We will be ins tu ng an Ini a on Fee. Details will
follow in the upcoming week. I have had a few ques ons regarding this, to the effect of; “Why would we do this now if we s ll need
to grow our membership?” and “Will it s ll make us compe ve with other clubs?” For the con nued long term financial stability
and growth of LCC we need to establish this revenue segment, which provides addi onal opera ng income and a source of capital
for improvements and repairs. In addi on, it begins to remove pressure from the dues base. We have looked at other clubs in the
area and all but a few have them in place. Will this slow down growth a li le? Yes, in the short term, but for long term stability it is
a required step for the club. Once again, thank for all you do for the club!
THANKS to our Members and Corporate Sponsors this year’s party will be better than ever!!!

Update from the Grounds Department by Gary Powers
The yardage markers for our sprinkler heads have arrived and we will start putting them out this week. The yardage on par four sprinkler heads will be approximately 250 yards from the green. On par fives the sprinkler heads will be marked at approximately 275 yards from the green. The yardages on them are measured to the center of the green.
If you have been out on the golf course in the past few weeks, you may have noticed three small posts that cut across the fairway. The posts replace the cart signs and mark the exit points to be used from the fairway. This will help keep traffic away from the green surround which will help ensure a better lie than matted down grass.
We have opened all but one new tee. The tee expansion on #13 will remain closed for the next few weeks. Our two roll-off areas on #6 and #8 are growing in quite well and should be open for play in the next few weeks. We will continue to lower the height of cut on them as the year goes on, but they most likely wont match the collar height until later in the year.
We have had a great stretch of weather, so I hope you all are out and enjoying the golf course. Over the next few weeks you may see some water running during the day in fairways. We need to make a few pesticide applications this time of the year that require watering-in. Thanks for your patience during this time.

Schaefer Cup, Governor’s Cup & President’s Cup brackets and deadlines are posted in the Men’s and Ladies locker rooms.
Please play your match early. All matches and round completion dates are listed, no exceptions for not completing your match
by the deadline. If you plan on playing your match on a Saturday or Sunday morning, you will be expected to keep up with the
pace of play in front of your match. If you fall behind, you will need to let faster groups play through.
The Lancaster Country Club PGA Junior League has started. This team is a 13 year old and under travel league versus other
area private clubs in our area. LCC hosted a match vs East Aurora CC on May 21st. LCC came out on top 9.5pts-2.5pts. The
team now takes their 1-0 record on the road June 4th at Fox Valley!!
Saturday June 11th the golf course and clubhouse will be closed for an outside event. If you are interested in playing golf on
this date, we can contact some of our reciprocal courses. Please contact the Lancaster golf shop by June 4th with the number of
players in your group. Also please provide the golf shop your 3 courses in order preference. You will then be placed into a
lottery for each of the courses to determine your location. All tee times will be in the noon to 2pm range for each club. The
clubs we contact are as follows: Bartlett CC, Brook Lea, Country Club of Mendon, Clifton Springs, Niagara Frontier CC, St.
Catherine’s & Ridgemont CC. If you call the golf shop after June 4th, times will be on a first come, first serve basis on the re-
maining availability. Please do not call the reciprocal clubs directly for times as they will not be able to assist you. Please con-
tact the LCC golf shop for further details and information.
The outside tournament season kicks off Monday June 6th. We will have an outside party or parties each non-holiday Monday
until Monday October 10th. Member play will be available but limited. Example: For a 12:30-1:00pm shotgun start you could
play in the morning and just need to have the carts returned by 11am. We will then close to facilitate the outside event. The
driving range will be open in the morning until 1 hour before the event start time for Member and Employee use. The driving
range will then close for the day at 2pm so our staff can hand pick the range in preparation for the Tuesday morning cut. The
course will typically be available for play 5-51/2 hours from when the outside party tees off. So a 1pm shotgun start for out-
side party means the golf course will reopen in the 6:00pm-6:30pm range depending on the groups pace. Due to the extensive
setup with Monday outings, the golf shop will be closed on Mondays. Please check with the golf shop staff a day or two in
advance if you plan on playing on a Monday. We will give you the event start time, if there are 1 or 2 events, and the time
periods you could play and practice.
Lancaster Country Club Junior Camp will begin Friday June 24th. On the 5 junior camp Fridays, the juniors will have tee
times from 8am until 11am. Members tee times will be available before the juniors, 7am-7:51am and then after the juniors are
done teeing off in the 11am area. Please keep in mind we must have you stay in order and not jump holes for the safety of the
junior golfers. Most are at a younger age, just beginning and will take longer to play a hole than you may be accustomed too.
If you tee off after 11am on Friday the pace will be slower than normal until the juniors complete their 3, 4 or 6 hole day.
Members may use the Iron range only until after 11am. For any questions, please see me in the golf shop.
We have a few demo days coming up in June. Please see the following days and times. Contact the golf shop for a fitting ap-
pointment if you are interested in any equipment.
Sunday June 12th 9am-1pm Bridgestone Ball Fitting
Wednesday June 15th Noon-5pm Callaway Golf
Saturday June 18th 10am-2pm Nike Golf
Lastly, we have the following events coming up in June:
Saturday June 4th & Sunday June 5th Women’s Member-Member 11:30am SG Both Days
Wednesday June 8th Men’s Guest Day 12pm SG
Friday June 17th & Sat. June 18th Men’s Scratch Invite Friday 1pm SG, Saturday 8am Tee Time
Thursday June 23rd Women’s Guest Day 8:30am SG

F & B NEWS by Edward O’Donnell
Grilling fish? Don’t be intimidated. A few simple tricks of the trade and you will be wondering
why you waited so long. Start with a preheated grill about 400 to 450 degrees or medium high
heat if you do not have a temperature gauge, also making sure your grill grates are clean. Using a
fish basket allows you to flip the fish without breakage. You can also try a water-soaked cedar
plank or cook fish in a foil packet.
If you are grilling a light flavored flaky fish like haddock or tilapia, try pairing it with a Pinot
Grigio or a Sauvignon Blanc, unless you have a complex marinade or sauce on your fish - these
wines are somewhat acidic and may get lost. Stronger flavored fish like salmon, tuna or swordfish
hold up great to a nice white Burgundy or Champagne.
If you’re planning to grill shellfish, use a fish basket or skewers to keep them from falling
through the grates. Scallops and shrimp pair nicely with a buttery Chardonnay with a little oak
flavor.
Well that’s all for this month. Hope to see you at the club and I definitely can’t wait for the Sun-
day Grill-Outs to start!
Executive Chef Ryan McCormick
Now that Memorial Day has passed, the golf course is in full swing (no pun intended) and the pool is open. So far I have been getting great feedback from members and staff on the food and I hope that you will continue to give me your input to make your dining experience the best that I can make it. I encourage you to try new things on the menu now that it has been out for a little while. Between our Lunch, Dinner, and Bar menus, we have some very different offerings. There are many great options at our other dining locations (Pool and Halfway House) as well. With summer coming up quickly, it is a great time to try some of our lighter fare. The Almond Berry is perfect for summer, with ripe, juicy berries and seared scallops. Or perhaps one of our dips, such as the Louisiana Crab or Caramelized Bacon and Onion, which are great for a shared appetizer! Once again, I thank everyone for the welcome and feedback I have received. It has been a pleasure meeting all of you so far and I look forward to the coming months. Ryan McCormick Executive Chef
