MAY 2020 Club News Updates

LRPC Membership,

Since we did not have a Club Membership Meeting this month, I have put

together the following news and updated items for your review. The Club is

operating with some minor concessions and adjustments driven by the Corona

Virus pandemic. Business needs are being managed and the Board of Directors

continue to work as a team to execute their leadership and decision-making

responsibilities.

Shooting Activities

Please refer to the Club’s on-line Events Calendar for future match and activity

dates. As a reminder, access to the Club is currently restricted to the

Membership and those providing assistance to members with disabilities.

Participation in match or league events is restricted to the Membership and

Blue Card holders. Social distancing restrictions remain in place during all

shooting activities or while socializing at the Club.

Shotgun: The Thursday evening 5-Stand League, run by Peter Gantz, is in full

swing with 8-10 shooters typically showing up.

Pistol: The Pistol Shooters, under the direction of Tom Blount, are currently

competing in modified Postal Matches. Members wishing to compete can pick

up a target pack at the Clubhouse for $2 (3pks/$5), and on their own, shoot

the targets for score. Shot targets and score cards should be turned in at the

clubhouse where Tom will pick up and compile scores. So far 10-12 members

have participated.

Rifle: The .22 Benchrest shooters, under my direction, had their first monthly

Summer Fun Match on April 18th with 7 shooters participating.

Page 3: LAKELAND RIFLE AND PISTOL CLUB, INC.€¦ · If you have any suggestions, please direct them to one of our Club Officers: President Joe Ruth, Vice President Ken Jardine, ... by Treasurer

Maintenance Items Groundskeeper Gary Coleman is staying busy and doing a great job keeping the

grounds manicured. He continues to advance work on the electrical lighting

installation at the 5-Stand facility. He has also replaced the water fountain on

the 100yard range, completed the renovation of the Administration Office and

installed the electrical wiring and cable for the bird purchase kiosk in the

clubhouse. David Caudill and David Griffiths are working on the program

installation of the bird purchase kiosk.

Board of Directors Activities As mentioned above, the Board of Directors continue to remain actively

involved in managing the business and operational needs of the Club. We are

communicating regularly by email, phone and virtual meetings in order to

make decisions and keep the Club running smoothly. We will hold an

abbreviated meeting at the Club on the 20th in the large meeting room where it

will be possible to practice social distancing. The Safety Committee has been

communicating with each other by email and phone in order to continue

progress on a few projects, and our Treasurer, David Griffiths, is on the job

managing the Club’s finances.

Our Club Administrator, Annette Krzus, is working on the details and

preparations for our September Show as well as managing the day to day

business needs of the Club. I am happy to report that all but two of the May

Show vendors have moved their reservations and deposits to the September

Show.

Be safe and remain well.

Minutes of Board of Directors Meeting

May 20, 2020

Minutes of the LRPC Board of Directors meeting are submitted in “Draft Form Only” and shall not become part of the Club record until approval by the LRPC Board.

Meeting Opening: The meeting was called to order by President Ruth at 7:08 pm.

Members in Attendance: President Joe Ruth, VP Ken Jardine* Secretary Paul Thielen Treasurer David Griffiths Directors Peter Gantz, Bob Grimes, Allen Keefer, Lester Witman, Lash McCall*, David Caudill*, George Kloiber, Mike Pitsikoulis Gun Show Chairman Josh Bolger Immediate Past President Jack Schubert Junior Program Chair Ron Shultz Groundskeeper Gary Coleman

Dir Drake was excused. * Participated via conference call.

Membership Guests in Attendance: None

Approval of Meeting Minutes: Minutes of the April 8th, 2020 Board meeting were presented by Pres. Ruth for approval. A motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously to approve the minutes.

Membership: Club Administrator Annette Krzus reviewed membership applications for Andrzej “Andy” Ballin, Gary Ragatz, Christine Tilton-Weir, Richard Weir and Tim Dore who were not in attendance. The Board unanimously agreed to issue these prospective members a Blue Card in order to begin the onboarding process.

Treasures Report: Treas. Griffiths reviewed the 2020 Fiscal Year End and April Month End Financial Summary Reports. The following notable comments and observations were covered by Treasurer Griffiths and discussed by the Board:

The transfer of funds from the Wells Fargo accounts to Citizens Bank has begun. The Club realized a small profit of $16,736 in fiscal 2020 while making some significant

investments in the Club. As a rule of thumb and excluding any capital expenditures, it takes approximately $14K

to run the Club each month. Membership dues covers the Club’s running costs forapproximately 5 months. Each Gun Show covers the Club’s running costs forapproximately 2 months. Capital expenditures require other revenue sources.

The new computer has been configured with Office 365 and will be put “in production”once the 2019 tax return is filed.

Revenue from 2020 membership dues is down $11K compared to 2019. The memberswho have not renewed membership for 2020 will be contacted to determine if theirintensions are in fact to discontinue membership or if the failure to make payment wasan oversite.

The details of the Treasurer’s Financial Summary reports are posted for Membership viewing at the Clubhouse.

Advertising Report: No Report

Repairs and Maintenance: The wireless units for Clay Bird payments are expected to arrive tomorrow. Once installed, the Payment Kiosk can be put online. G.K. Coleman reported that the wiring for the 5-Stand lighting has been installed and all is in place to install the light fixtures. The three wheeled golf cart is down and a repair estimate for $1090 has been received. This vehicle has become a frequent maintenance expense. After much discussion the Board decided that based on age and maintenance history the unit should be replaced. A motion was made and passed unanimously to approve $3500 for the purchase of a used replacement. Dir. Grimes offered to donate a cart he has to the Club which may have some trade in value.

Safety Report: No Report

Youth Programs: Dir. Grimes reported that the Club has reacquired USA Shooting affiliation and is now eligible to hold USAS sanctioned youth events and matches.

Planning Report: No report

Gun Show: G.S. Chairman Bolger reported that all but two venders have transferred their deposit from the canceled May show to the September Show. The two venders who did not transfer deposits to the September show transferred deposits to the January show.

Old Business: No old business was discussed

President’s Business: Pres. Ruth lead a discussion concerning the Club’s 4th of July picnic. After thoughts and opinions on the matter were shared, a decision was reached unanimously that the picnic would be held with the traditional BBQ meal being served outside on the 100-yard range.

A proposal made by Pres. Ruth to save the Club $1536 a year in contracted printing costs for the Club’s monthly newsletter was agreed to on a trial basis. During the trial period, the copies of the newsletter made available to the membership at the clubhouse will be generated in-house by the Club’s administrator.

A proposed amendment to the Club’s By Laws that addresses the swearing in of newly elected offices in the event the annual Club Banquet is canceled was discussed. A motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously that this proposed amendment will be sent to the membership for approval once membership meetings are resumed.

New Business: No new business was introduced.

Meeting Adjournment: With no further topics introduced or agenda items to cover a motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 7:55 pm.

Respectfully Submitted

Paul Thielen / Secretary
