LAKE COUNTY NEIGHBORHOODS
Presentation prepared by Olde Town Brokers
LAKE COUNTY
Lake County was formed from a portion of
Orange and Sumter counties in 1887 and was
appropriately named due to its abundance of
pristine lakes that grace the countryside.
Lake County is known for its diverse
landscape and terrain ranging from 0 to 315
feet above sea level. With rolling hills dotted
by orange groves in the south to the pristine
flora of “Old Florida” in the north, the striking
physical beauty of Lake County has captured
the hearts and imagination of many.
DEMOGRAPHICS
Lake County enjoys a diverse and continually
growing population base. As of 2010, Lake
County's population totaled nearly 300,000, a
41 percent increase over the 2000 population.
Growth in Lake County is expected to remain
strong over the coming decades as forecasts
have the Lake County population increasing to
over 360,000 by 2020, and to over 500,000 by
2040.
QUALITY OF LIFE Whether it’s the low cost of living, award
winning healthcare facilities or an abundance
of recreational and outdoor amenities, Lake
County prides itself on providing an
exceptional quality of life for its residents. Lake
County offers its residents a simple, "Real
Florida" lifestyle, while being just a stone’s
throw away from Florida’s coastal beaches and
the facilities of Metro-Orlando.
RECREATION While Lake County is home to a myriad of
local recreational and entertainment
opportunities, residents also enjoy the
County’s close proximity to the many
regional recreational and entertainment
destinations found in surrounding counties.
The Orlando-area attractions and the
beaches on both the east and west coasts
are within an hour’s drive of Lake County.
ARTS & CULTURE Lake County offers four distinct community
theaters and its own not-for-profit orchestra
featuring 60 professional musicians, in
addition to a wealth of historical museums,
colorful art centers and an extensive public
library system.
TOP ANNUAL EVENTS While the appeal of outdoor activities attract
residents to Lake County, the hometown
charm of its communities, along with unique
fairs and festivals usually keeps them here.
Lined with historical significance and country
charisma, the small downtowns of Lake
County offer a plethora of cultural,
environmental and recreational events and
festivals throughout the entire year.
CITIES & TOWNS The fourteen municipalities within Lake County
account for almost 50 percent of the County's
population. Each of these cities and towns has its
own distinct character and together they provide
a diverse range of business climates and
economic opportunities. Lake County’s Economic
Development Department partners with local
municipalities to ensure that County’s pro-
business attitude is reflected throughout the
entire county, regardless of municipal boundaries
