There are a total of 338 km of biking trails and approximately 1000 bicycle parking spots in Lahti. Tour with a guideYou can also get to know the Lahti region with a professional guide. An expert guide can tell stories that will make even a seemingly boring building interesting and colourful and bring the history alive so that the time spent on the road seems much shorter than it actually is. You may even meet famous local people, lords and maids of the manor, or even the village idiot, during your tour. More than 70 guided walking and bus tours are arranged during the summer season in the Lahti region. A third of the tours this year are new ones. They range from visits to cemeteries and evening promenades with Mrs Lind to truths and stories from the Concert Hall to the Histori-cal Museum and from the Church Hill to Olavin-linna Castle, and much more!

All of the tours will be arranged if even a sin-gle person attends. You should choose your cloth-ing and shoes based on the weather conditions. The yellow summer tour brochures are available at the Info point in shopping centre Trio, for example.

Walking tours cost €5 (children under the age of 15 free of charge when accompanied with an adult). The tours are guided in Finnish only.

There are dozens of interesting museums, summertime exhibitions and summer theatres in the Lahti region, offering new experiences for people of all ages and sizes.

History, art & culture

Five Star Manor What do an ancient Chinese funerary figure, the sculpture Marjatta by Emil Wikström and watercolours depicting the town of Vyborg by Viktor Svaetichin have in common? The answer is the Five Star Manor exhibition at the Lahti Historical Museum. Lahti Historical Museum, 27.3. 2015–28.2.2016

Ruins of the Church of St. Lawrence The Church of St. Lawrence in Hämeenkoski was built in the late 15th or early 16th century. The church was used as a place of worship until the 17th cen-tury. Studies have shown that the church is almost unique among the 101 medieval stone churches

in Finland. It is a rare medieval site in Finland. Its history can only be surveyed by means of further archeological studies.

Immilä water mill The rapids of Immilä were used for milling already in the middle ages and the oldest written information on the rapids dates as far back as 1548. Today Immilä is a museum area and the mill also hosts a café and a handi-craft showroom open during the summer.

Among other things, the Orimattila Art Museum includes the collections of the Ilmari and Toini Wall-Hakala Art Foundation, as well as

Restaurant on the lakeshoreCasseli, nestling close to the Sibelius Hall on the shore of Lake Vesijärvi, is a high-quality dining and social res-taurant with its own distinctive atmosphere. It stands on the site of the old Lahti Glass Factory.

The impressive restaurant building was con-structed in 1999, but its architectural style is the same as in the Glass Factory of the 1920s. The res-taurant gives splendid views straight onto Lake Vesi-järvi. Its large windows integrate the winter landscape into the dining experience.

On weekdays, Casseli serves á la carte lunch and a delicious buffet lunch. In its range of dishes, inter-national cuisine meets up with traditional Finnish culinary art. The wine list changes with the seasonal menus to complement the culinary delight. The res-taurant was awarded the recognition plates of the Chaine des Rotisseurs in autumn 2006. Casseli is at its best in the evening before a concert; for a busi-ness lunch; for lunch with a friend; or as a celebration and meeting restaurant for a company.

The people ofcottages Finns are people of cottages. People search for silence, tranquillity and togetherness from cot-tages instead of homes, and almost every Finn has a hideaway where to relax and regain strength.

For some people the cottage means water that has to be carried inside from a well, an out-door toilet and candlelight. Others want to relax in a villa that is as comfortable as a family house. One can find just the right kind of cottage for vacation and relaxation from the versatile selec-tion of rental cottages in the Lahti area. Check out the comprehensive selection and rent your-self a cottage.

Active enjoyment in the Kouvola region 1/2015

Iitti Golf– a relaxing pastime

Iitti Golf Course is a beautiful, well-kept 18-hole course set between

two lakes. Our idyllic and beautiful environment exudes history.

The main building of our farm was built in the 1870s. You do not have

to book far in advance to play here. Play proceeds smoothly. The course

offers challenges to players of all levels. Green fees are reasonably

priced. Our cafeteria has a wide range of tasty snacks, both sweet and

savoury, which can be enjoyed with coffee or other beverages.

The course is 25 km from Kouvola, 45 km from Lahti and 145 km from

Helsinki. We are happy to assist in organising connecting transport to

Iitti Golf Course. Accommodation facilities can be found next door and

in local areas. We can help you to find accommodation and organise

transport between your place of accommodation and the course.

Come and play alone or in a group. Ask us for

an offer for playing and for other services.

Come and play at Iitti’s Niskaportti Golf Course!
