Agreement Between t he Nigeria Governors' Forum {NGF) And t he Labour Movement Represented b y t he N,LC and t he TU C on Implementation of t he National Minimum Wage o f N18, 0 0 0 The Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF}, t h e Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and t h e Trade Union Congress (TUC) held a. meeting in Abuja on Tuesday 19th July, 2011 on t h e implementation of t h e new minimum wage. The meeting agreed that: 1. The 36 States o f t h e Federation agree t o comply with the new National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act, 2011; 2. The . States shall conclude negotiations with labour on t h e implementation o f t h e n e w minimum wage n o t later than July 31, 2011; . 3 . Detailed negotiations on salary across board will be done with a view t o effecting payments by August 2011, while modalities f o r payment o f t h e minimum wage will be worked o u t according t o th e peculiarities o f each state 4. The Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF}, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC)

and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) held a. meeting in Abuja on

Tuesday19th

July, 2011 onthe implementation of the new minimum

wage. The meeting agreed that:

1. The 36 States of the Federation agree to comply with the new

National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act, 2011;

2. The. States shall conclude negotiations with labour on the

implementation of the new minimum wage not later than July 31,

2011; .

3. Detailed negotiations on salary across board will be done with a

view to effecting payments by August 2011, while modalities for

payment of the minimum wage will be worked out according to

the peculiarities of each state

4. The 36 States agree that the effective date for t he

implementation of the new minimum wage shall not be later that

1st August 2011 provided that any worker who earned less than

the =N=18,000 between 1st April and the effective date of the

implementation of the new minimum wage shall be paid arrears

of the difference;

5. The timeframe for the payment of the arrears of the difference of

the new minimum wage effective April 1, 2011 shall not be later

than October, 2011;

6. No State shall victimize any worker in any manner or form as a

consequence of the implementation of the new minimum wage;

7. In the face of the commitment by the Governors, labour resolves

to suspend the 3-day warning strike called for this week in the

States.

Government and State Governors, Labour resolves to suspend the
