As a student, what is the MOST important aspect in dealing with potential laboratory waste in a
University? Must be labeled as HAZARDOUS WASTE Should be accurate, legible and fully
explained Contain name of the department, lab group
name, contact person details, content and concentration, hazard class, date
Use Enviroserv /Sanumed self adhesive labels or your own.
Waste vs. used No old labels
From your findings, does Malaysian laboratory waste
management system is properly in place compared to the
International or other developing countries? Please comment. In our opinion, Malaysia still need proper
laboratory waste management system and need to have special website that related to laboratory waste in Malaysia because still hard for us to find any information about laboratory waste management in website related to malaysia. But there are a lot of information we can get especially from United State of America.
In your opinion, how to sustain a continuous and the most cost
effective management of laboratory wastes in Malaysian
university? In our opinion our country should creates special association that regulate laboratory waste with more specific aims to ensure laboratory waste is well managed and maybe can be reused. However there are association related in laboratory waste in Malaysia but just need to improve.
Do you think this topic is essential in your future career (EH/OSH)? and Why?
In our opinion, this topic is essential for our future because laboratory waste is dangerous if not handle with care and it will be our responsibility as safety advisor to know how to handle laboratory waste and this is small part of knowledge that we need to have as safety advisor
