The CompanyPyramid Innovation Limited is a UK based company formed by the former management and design team from Raymond A Lamb.

Raymond A Lamb Limited was a family owned Laboratory Supply business which was established for over 50 years. They were renowned for their innovation and quality products such as the MicroWriter Cassette and Slide printers. Raymond A Lamb Ltd was bought out by Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2008.

As Pyramid Innovation we have put together a range of products based on the old Raymond A Lamb range and our intention is to keep adding to it by developing new innovative products. Please let us know if there are any products you think we should add to our range, we want it to be as comprehensive as possible.

We have introduced some new products including our new Pi Slide Printer, slide drying hotplates and a section dryer. We will be expanding our electrical range to include a wax dispenser and section mounting bath.

There is no minimum order level and wherever possible we aim to ship the same day as the order is placed. Please email for quantity prices. If you would like us to call you, please send us an email and we will call you back during UK working hours.

SpecificationsWe reserve the right to change specifications without prior notice.

Loss or Damage in TransitDamaged goods or quantity discrepancies must be reported to the carrier on receipt. Notification must also be made to us within 5 days of delivery. In case of non-delivery this must be reported to us within 14 days of dispatch date shown on the invoice.

PricesWe reserve the right to charge for goods at the price ruling on the date of dispatch. Prices in our list are quoted excluding packaging, carriage and VAT. Product prices and transport costs are subject to change without prior notice. Most prices, particularly products of our own manufacture, are reviewed an-nually in April.

PaymentFor customers with credit approval payment is due within 30 days of the tax point date unless otherwise agreed. Goods remain strictly the property of Pyramid Innovation Ltd until paid for in full.

Returning GoodsAuthorisation and a Returns Note Number must be obtained prior to the return of goods. We reserve the right to apply a handling charge of up to 20% for goods ordered in error.

We do not usually accept the return of non-standard or special items.

All goods being returned for credit must be in 100% saleable condition – any transit damage / breakage will be at the cus-tomer’s expense.

Guarantee / WarrantyOur equipment is warranted against any defects of material or workmanship which develop for any reason, except user abuse, within a period of one year following the tax point date shown on Pyramid Innovation’s invoice.

In the event of the defect developing during the warranty period we will at our election repair or replace the equipment with a new or reconditioned model of equivalent quality. Any obligation under warranty is subject to the instrument being returned to Pyramid Innovation at the consignor’s cost.

In the event of replacement with a new or reconditioned model the replacement will continue the warranty period of the original.

It is the user’s responsibility to ensure that the instrument is in good, safe working order at all times and regular inspection is therefore recommended.

Health / Safety and LiabilityRisk in products will pass at the time of delivery to the customer.

The customer is responsible for unloading and transporting large and/or heavy items from delivery vans.

In view of the hazards of certain solutions / mounting mediums / chemicals and equipment, the customer will be solely respon-sible for determining the suitability and specification of products, services, information and advice for its purposes.

Pyramid Innovation has the right, without notice, to supply prod-ucts of different specifications, sources, and pack size to that published or ordered. The customer is required to ensure that the use of any products supplied by Pyramid Innovation do not infringe third party intellectual property rights.

In view of the above, liability of Pyramid Innovation for any loss or damage suffered by a customer and arising by reason of defects in the products or otherwise howsoever is limited to the invoice price of the products in respect of or in relation to which loss or damage is claimed. Any liability accepted by Pyramid In-novation under these terms and conditions is in lieu of any war-ranty or condition implied by law as to the quality or fitness for any particular purpose of the products and save as provided in these terms and conditions Pyramid Innovation will not be under any liability, whether in contract, tort, breach of statutory duty or otherwise in respect of defects in products delivered or for any injury (other than death or personal injury caused by Pyramid Innovation negligence as defined in the Unfair Contact Terms Act 1977) damage or loss resulting from such defects or from any information, service or advice provided by Pyramid Innova-tion or its employees, contractors or agents. In no event shall Pyramid Innovation be liable for any consequential loss whether or not resulting in force majeure. The customer indemnifies Pyramid Innovation against any claims from its employees, contractors or agents.

Pi Slide Printer


Pi Slide Printer

The Pi Slide Printer is small, fast and easy to use.

It has been designed to fit in with how you work and delivers printed slides on-demand in under 4 seconds.

The colour touch screen provides you with all the control and functionality to print slides, and design layouts.

The display is designed to operate in a similar way to a smart phone or tablet making it intuitive and easy to use.

You simply drop the slide into the top of the printer on the way to pick up the tissue from the water bath thereby ensuring you use the correct slide - true on-demand.

Where more automation is required the Pi Printer can also be used with the optional delivery hopper and collection accessories.

The built-in scanner is designed to read difficult 2D barcodes printed directly onto items such as cassettes. You simply scan a cassette to print slides which removes the need to type in data, eliminating human error. The scanner can also be used to input commands to the printer.

The flexible design and feature set of the Pi Printer enables it to be used as a stand alone printer or part of a system.

As a stand-alone printer it does not require a PC or other computer due to its built-in software and functionality including protocol management, slide and block tracking and Hub interface. However a Windows driver can be used by those who wish to drive the printer from PC based applications.

The Pi Printer has built-in connectivity enabling it to integrate with other Pi Printers and Tracking Points to build a tracking system.

The Pi Section Dryer dries slides rapidly by circulating heated air over the slide surface, all enclosed in a compact design but with a large viewing window.

The digital touch panel controller enables the dryer to operate from ambient to 75oC.

There are two models available - the Pi Hotplate has a large capacity for laboratories with a high throughput and the Pi Slimline Hotplate has been designed with a small footprint to take up the minimum amount of work surface.

Pyramid Innovation offer a premium range of storage cabinets for paraffin blocks and microscope slides. These are of metal construction and powder coated in blue grey.

The cabinets are sealed top and bottom.

Tissue Capture Pen

The Tissue Capture Pen improves section attachment to glass slides during Immunohistochemical (IHC) staining. It creates a sticky surface on the glass slide ideally suited for paraffin or frozen section attachment. It also greatly improves section adherence throughout IHC protocols. It can be used in conjunction with the Liquid Blocker Super Pap Pens.

Liquid Blocker PAP Pens

The Liquid Blocker Super PAP Pen is a ready-to-use hydrophobic bar-rier pen designed for Immunohistochemistry (IHC) applications. Draw a circle, square or any shape around the tissue sections with the pen and it provides a barrier ensuring only the amount of antibody solution needed is applied.

This eliminates over-flooding of the slide and therefore wiping of excess fluid from around the specimen can be avoided. This saves time and avoids the risk of touching specimens when wiping.

Multiple specimens can be separated by circles or lines applied to the same slide. The pen contains a special formulation that is water repel-lent, insoluble in alcohol and acetone, and stable for a long time period. It can be removed, if required, by xylene after the staining procedure is completed if the chromogen is insoluble in solvents.

Mount-Quick™ Mounting Medium, Aqueous Based

The Mount-Quick™ “Aqueous” Mounting Medium is optimized for Immuno Staining as well as applications in Immunohistochemistry.

Mount-Quick has been developed for mounting stained sections for lipoid and immune staining, especially when soluble chromogen solution, i.e. AEC is used with an organic solvent. Refractive Index: 1.41; Specific Gravity: 0.88 so; viscosity: 33 cp (25°); pH: 7.0.

Immunohistochemistry

The semi-disposable tray is suitable for routine staining

requiring humidity. It is also ideal for Haematology, Cytology and

Microbiology laboratories.

The tray is made from black ABS plastic capable of withstanding a

wide range of chemicals (avoid chlorinated hydrocarbons).

Each slide position has its own well for holding water without splashing, rails

hold the slides above the wells ensuring that the slides do not come into contact with the water.

The tray has four rails designed to take up to 20 slides. The rails are topped with a polymer non-slip strip that holds the slides in place,

even when the tray is at an angle.

Adhesive Microscope Slides

The glass surface of the HistoBond® slide is loaded with a permanent positive charge which securely fastens all types of section to the glass. Proteinic adhesives, which often interfere with stains and Immuno reactions or have disturbing background effects, are no longer required. This improves the quality of the preparations significantly. The tissue sections adhere to the glass when subjected to frequent washing or even cooking in the microwave. In most cases, this reliable bonding makes it possible to dispense with double experiments which saves time and reduces the costs of routine section preparations in the laboratory.

Surgical Blade Remover Unit

The blade remover unit (BRU) will hold up to 100 blades and is ideal for use within the GP practice, for a Chiropodist both in their surgery and whilst making domiciliary visits and for Vets whilst out in the field.

The BRU combines simplicity of operation with safety during use. It is therefore ideal for those less confident blade users and especially those working in areas where a sharps disposal facility is not immediately available.

Trying to extend the life of this device by trying to remove the contaminated blades from them is strongly discouraged as they are designed as a device solely for the removal of blades and not for long term sharps storage.

Paraffin Wax Repellent

A specifically formulated repellent to keep paraffin from sticking to laboratory surfaces. It can also be used to clean or provide a barrier on metal, wood and plastic surfaces in paraffin cluttered areas. Best sprayed onto a cloth or tissue and then applied as a thin coating to effected surfaces. Not recommended for use on microtome blades, blade holders or base moulds that come into direct contact with specimen ribbons as PARA/Gard™ will dissolve the paraffin section.
