Use

This machine is designed forcommercial use and for

specialized applications only, asdescribed in these OperatingInstructions. Do not use for purposesother than those for which it wasdesigned, as this could be dangerous.Miele is not responsible for damagescaused by improper use.

The installation of this unit in nonstationary locations (e.g. ships)

must be performed by a qualifiedinstaller or service agency in strictaccordance with national and localsafety regulations and standards.

Please pay attention to the followingnotes to maintain safe procedures.

The machine should becommissioned and maintained only

by a Miele Service Technician. Repairsby unqualified persons could bedangerous.

Do not install the machine in anarea where a danger of explosion

or freezing may be present.

Be certain this appliance isproperly installed and grounded by

an authorized technician. To guaranteethe electrical safety of this appliance,continuity must exist between theappliance and an effective groundingsystem. It is imperative that this basicsafety requirement be met. If there isany doubt, have the electrical systemchecked by a qualified technician. Themanufacturer cannot be heldresponsible for damage or injurycaused by the lack, or inadequacy, ofan effective grounding system(e.g. electric shock).

A damaged machine is dangerous.Turn off the machine immediately at

the power switch and call the MieleService Department.

Personnel operating the machineshould be trained regularly.

Children and untrained personnel mustnot be allowed access to the machineor its controls.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Take care when handling liquidssuch as detergents, neutralizing

agents, wetting agents and rinse aids.These may contain irritant or corrosiveingredients, acids or alkalis. Never useany organic solvents, as the danger ofexplosion exists. Wear protectivegloves and goggles. Themanufacturer’s safety conditions mustbe observed at all times.

The water in the machine must notbe used as drinking water.

Be careful when sorting items withsharp pointed ends. Position them

in the machine so that you do not hurtyourself or create a danger for others.

When using this machine regardthe high temperatures and be

especially careful not to scald or burnyourself. When opening the doorbypassing the electrical lock, a dangerof burning, scalding and corrosionexist. Let mobile units, inserts andcleaned items cool before touchingthem. Any water which may remain incontainers will be very hot and must beemptied into the wash cabinet.

After drying with the TA drying unitopen the door to allow the items

and inserts to cool.

Do not touch the heating elements(under the wide area filter) during

or directly after the end of a program,you could burn yourself. They remainhot for some time after the programend.

If the boiler has been programmedto "BOILER READY", be particularly

careful of hot water and steam whenopening the door. Danger of burning orscalding. The water inlet pipe to thewash cabinet is located, as viewedfrom the unclean side, underneath thebasket runner on the left hand side.

Steam heating is permissible up toa pressure of 145 psi. This

corresponds to a water steamtemperature of 354°F (179 °C).

Never clean the machine near orwith a water or high pressure hose.

Before servicing, disconnect thepower supply by either removing

the fuse, unplugging the unit ormanually "tripping" the circuit breaker.

The following points should beobserved to assist in maintainingquality standards, for critical labglassware, to protect patients, and toavoid damage to the loads beingcleaned.

Use only Miele approved cleaningagents with this machine. Use of

unsuitable cleaning agents couldadversely affect the components of themachine. Damages resulting from usingunsuitable cleaning agents are notcovered by the warranty.

Pre-treating (e.g. with cleaningagents), certain soiling and

cleaning agents with a chemicalinteraction, can cause foam. Forpre-treatment and/or cleaning only uselow-sudsing detergents which havebeen approved by Miele. Suds canhave an adverse effect on the operationof the machine.

After START has been pressed theprogram must not be interrupted

by pressing the I-0 button. A programshould not be interrupted since theresult may be effected. Otherwise theprogram must be repeated.

When a chemical additive isrecommended, the manufacturer of

the machine takes no responsibility forthe effect of the chemical on the itemsbeing cleaned.

The machine must only beoperated with water and the

recommended cleaning agents.Organic solvents must not be used inthe machine as there is the danger,under certain circumstances, ofexplosion and damage to rubber andsynthetic materials. Follow the dosagerecommendations of the cleaningagent’s manufacturer.

In critical applications where veryhigh requirements have to be met,

it is strongly recommended that all therelevant factors for the process, suchas cleaning agent, quality of water, etc.are discussed with the MieleApplications Specialists.

If the cleaning result is subject toparticularly stringent requirements

(e.g. chemical analysis, specializedprocesses), a regular quality controltest should be carried out by the user toensure that the required standards ofcleanliness are being achieved.

The cleaning standard in theroutine use must be verified by the

user. The process should be checkedregularly using thermoelectric anddocumented results.

The mobile units and specialinserts should only be used for

their specific application.

Empty any containers or utensilsbefore arranging them in the

machine.

Do not allow any remains of acids,solvents or corroding ferrous

material, and in particular hydrochloricacid or chloride solutions to get into thewash cabinet. Similarly avoid anymaterials with a corrosive effect. Thepresence in compounds of any solventsshould be minimal, (especially those inhazard class A1).

To avoid any corrosion damageensure that solutions or steam

containing hydrochloric acid do notcome in contact with the stainless steelcasing of the machine.

Please follow the installation advicein these instructions and the

separate Installation Instructions.

Using accessories

Only specific additional equipmentmade by Miele should be

connected to this machine. Consult aMiele Application Specialist on the typeand application of such equipment.

Only Miele mobile units, modulesand inserts should be used. If

equipment from another manufactureris used, Miele cannot ensure thecleaning and disinfection results.Damage or injury caused by this areexcluded from the warranty.

Disposal of an old appliance

When discarding a lab washer,disconnect it from the power

supply and cut off the power cord.The old appliance may becontaminated by blood or other bodyfluids and must be disinfected beforedisposal.For environmental and safety reasonsensure the machine is completelydrained of any residual water andcleaning agent. (Observe safetyregulations and wear safety gogglesand gloves). Make the door lockinoperative or remove the doorcompletely, so that children cannotaccidentally shut themselves in. Makeappropriate arrangements for the safedisposal of the machine.Machines with a tank system: removethe water from the tank beforedisposing the machine.

The lift door can only be opened when:

– the lab glassware washer isconnected to the electrical supply,

– the red ("emergency cut off") switchis in the I-ON position,

– the I-0 On-Off button is pressed in,and

– no program is running.

The lift door on the clean side (G 7828)can only be opened when:

– DESIN (disinfection) programs havebeen correctly completed,

or

– the Door interlock has beenactivated, i.e. DOOR MECH. hasbeen set to one of the followingparameters:- INTERLOCK,- DOOR CLEAN+INTERLOCK,- DOOR UNCL.+INT.LOCK.(see "Machine function - Doormechanism..." in the Programmingmanual).

To open the lift door^ Press the 5 door button. The lift door

rises.

In operating level C the AWK (optional)attributes a fixed program place to amobile unit with valid coding.Program places 1-15 are reserved forthe AWK automatic mobile unitrecognition.

The unit coding (on the mobile unit) andthe program place with thecorresponding program (in the"Profitronic" electronic control unit) mustmatch.

^ Each mobile unit must be codedbefore being used for the first time.See "Mobile unit coding".

^ The wash program through which themobile unit is coded has to beassigned to the relevant programplace.

Program place changes, see the"System function - Selector switchorganization" section in theProgramming Manual.

Important!Before starting the program with the"Start" button 6, check that theprogram needed for this mobile unitis displayed.Otherwise insufficient wash resultsmay occur!Always check that programs formobile units with AWK (on fixedprogram places) are not exchanged.

Mobile unit codingThe automatic mobile unit recognitionfeature assigns a program place to amobile unit. The mobile units must becoded with a magnetic strip, via a bitcombination. In operating level C theonly program available for a codedmobile unit is the one assigned to thecorresponding program place.

When a coded mobile unit is inserted inthe machine and the door closes, theautomatic mobile unit recognitionselects the assigned program. Be sureno small items connect to the magneticstrip.

^ Press 6 to start the program.

The coding is made up of 5 bits:

– Bits 1 to 4 define the mobile unitcode,

– Bit 5 serves as a control (Parity-Bit).

Bit 6 controls the volume of water intakeand the circulation pump for mobileunits with side coupling. This settingcannot be changed!Mobile units without side coupling arecoded with tracks which do not containBit 6!

15 different codes can be set. They areassigned to program places 1 to 15.

Under "System function - Selectorswitch organization" the matchingprograms have to be put into the first15 program places.

The coded total must be an evennumber. Bit 6 is not included in thiscalculation.

If the coded total equals an odd numberthe message CHECK MOBILE UNITRECOGNITION will appear. If the mobileunit code equals 0, the message NOMOBILE UNIT RECOGNITION willappear. In both cases the programcannot be started. The mobile unitrecognition must be reset.

Setting mobile unit coding

To set or alter the coding of a mobileunit with automatic recognition (AWK)proceed as follows:

^ Unscrew the track with an AWK (allenwrench) and remove it from theretainer.

^ Remove the magnetic strip from thetrack.

^ Set the program place coding.

^ Put the magnetic strip back in thetrack.

Important:The magnetic strip must be placedin the track so that the Bit coding,set according to the chart, is visiblethrough the round windows of thetrack.

^ Place the track in the holder of themobile unit and screw firmly in place.

Bit 6 is not an integral part of themodifiable magnetic strip.Make sure that you code mobileunits with side coupling to a trackwhere Bit 6 is set to I.Mobile units without side couplingmust be coded with a track thatdoes not have Bit 6.

The magnetic strips on the G 7825 /G 7826 must have gray magnets.The magnetic strips on the G 7827 /G 7828 must have black magnets.

The machine can be fitted with a varietyof mobile units, baskets and inserts,depending on the cleaning applicationdesired.

Check before cleaning– Are the items to clean correctly

sorted, loaded and connected?

– Are the spray arms clean and canthey rotate freely?

– Is the filter combination free ofcoarse soiling? Clean if necessary.

– Is the adapter to the water inlet inplace? The spray arms correctlyconnected?

– Are the detergent and neutralizercontainers full?

Check after cleaning– Check the cleaning results visually.

– Perform protein analytical checks,e.g. with the Miele test kit.

– Are the jets and connectionssecurely connected with the mobileunit / inserts?

Application

Loading tips

Select mobile units, baskets andinserts appropriate for theapplication.

^ Load the items to be washed so thatwater can access all surfaces. Thisensures that they will be properlycleaned.

^ Do not place items to be cleanedinside other pieces where they maybe concealed.

^ Hollow vessels such as beakers,measuring cylinders, flasks, etc.should be inverted and placed in thecorrect inserts so that water can flowin and out unrestricted. A cover netcan be used to reduce the risk ofmovement during the wash process.

^ Use a cover net (e.g. an A 2) ormesh tray to secure small and/orlightweight items to prevent themfrom blocking the spray arms orbeing caught in the magnetic strip onthe automatic mobile unit recognitionsystem.

^ Deep based items should be placedat an angle to allow water to run offeasily.

^ Tall, narrow pieces should be placedin the center of the baskets. Thisensures good water coverage.

^ Mobile units with an adapter mustengage correctly.

^ Engage inserts correctly into themodule carts.

^ The spray arms must not be blockedby tall items or items which hangdown in their path. If necessary,manually rotate the arms to test.

^ Petri dishes and the similar should beplaced in the correct insert with thesoiled side facing the center.

^ Insert pipettes with the pointed enddownwards.

^ Quarter inserts should be placed asclose to the middle of the unit aspossible.

^ Glassware should not stick out of thedoor area.

Laboratory glassware (LG)Wide-necked glassware, such as widenecked erlenmeyer flasks and petridishes or glassware with a cylindricalform, e.g. test tubes, can be cleanedinside and out with the rotating sprayarm. General glassware such asbeakers, conical flasks, petri dishes,test tubes, etc. can be arranged in fullsize, half or quarter inserts in the higheror lower levels.Mobile injector units are available fordirect injection spraying of narrownecked flasks, pipettes, etc.

The following instructions relate only tobasic preparation and loading ofglassware.

Loading the machine

Removing excess soils

^ Empty all glassware before loadinginto the machine. Take any hygienicmeasures necessary to avoidinfection.

,Ensure that no acid or solventresidues, especially hydrochloricacid or chlorides get into the washcabinet.

^ Remove all agar residues from petridishes.

^ Remove blood clots and residuesfrom test tubes, etc.

^ Remove all stoppers, corks, labels,sealing wax residues, etc.

^ Small parts such as stoppers andtaps should be secured in suitablebasket inserts.

E 940 Injector mobile unit

Contains two levels, for narrow neckedlaboratory glassware (can also be usedwithout the upper level).

Application

,Use only cleaning detergentsand neutralizers specially designedfor lab washers and regard theapplication recommendations of themanufacturer.

This automatic cleaning machine isfitted with 4 dispensers:

– Dispensing system DOS 1 (blue) todispense liquid detergent. Thedosing rate is 200 ml/min.

– Dispensing system DOS 2 (white).The dosing rate is 105 ml/min.

– Dispensing system DOS 3 (red).The dosing rate is 105 ml/min.

– Dispensing system DOS 4 (green).The dosing rate is 465 ml/min.

The amounts of cleaning agentrequired, depending on the applicationchosen for this machine, are dispensedthrough these dispensing systems.

Preparing the DOS dispensersThe liquids can be filled into 10 l plasticcontainers, which are color coded forthe corresponding dispensing system.

When first commissioning, or when themessage "FILL DOS 1 CONTAINER"and/or DOS 2, 3, 4 flashes in thedisplay after switching on or at the endof a program, fill the storage containerwith the correct detergent or neutralizer.If the message "CHECK DISPENSINGSYSTEM 1" and/or "DISPENSINGSYSTEM 4" flashes in the display, (theprogram has been automatically put onhold), check the storage container anddispensing hoses, refill if necessary.

When first commissioning or whenthe message "CHECK DISPENSINGSYSTEM... ", appears, start theDOS-FILL program to prime thedispensing system (see "Priming theliquid dispensing systems").

,Use caution when handlingdetergents!Follow the instructions and relevantsafety procedures carefully.Wear protective gloves and goggles.

Filling the containers with liquidagents

^ Turn the machine off using the powerswitch.

^ Open the service panel and lift it upand out at the bottom.

^ Take the storage container out of theunit, open it and fill with the agentrequired (observe the color code).

^ Place the siphon tube from thedetergent dispensing pump firmlyinto the container opening (observethe color code).

Once the storage containers have beenfilled the message clears.

Remember to refill the containers ina timely manner, they should not beemptied completely.

If the container is not in use, the refillfunction for the dosage system notused can be shut off and arespective display message beavoided (see "Machine function/Dispensing - Query container" in theProgramming manual).

Priming the liquid dispensingsystemsBefore the machine is first used, andlater if one or more containers havebeen allowed to empty, the dispensingsystem(s) for liquid agents must beprimed.

^ Press the ON/OFF I-0 button.

^ Select operating level "B".

Inspect the hoses of the dispensingsystem(s). Replace if necessary.

External Dispensing systemsIf external pumps are to be used fordispensing liquid detergent, pleaseinform the Miele Technical ServiceDepartment. The notes in theProgramming Manual under "Machinefunctions" must be observed.

Turning on^ Open the water supply (if turned off).

^ Turn the power switch to I-On.

^ Press the ON/OFF I-0 button in.

In operating levels A, B and D the mostrecently selected PROGRAM NAMEappears and in operating level C"AUTOMATIC MOBILE UNITRECOGNITION" is displayed.

The four operating levels are:

A = Fixed program / Programs with freeaccess

B = Free program selection

C = AWK – Automatic Mobile Unitrecognition (program selection viamobile unit coding)

D = Programming / free programselection / change code (see theProgramming manual)

Changing the operating level^ Press 1 and 2 at the same time.

Operating levels A B C D will appearin the display.

^ Select the operating level you wantusing the 1 or 2 keys.

^ Press 6 to confirm selection.

^ Enter code when requested in thedisplay.

The code is set by default to >0000<.

^ Press the "Start" button 6.

[0000] appears.

^ Enter numbers using the 4 and 3keys.

^ Select number positions with the 1or 2 keys.

^ To confirm code press 6.

If it was entered incorrectly: FALSECODE, ENTER AGAIN will appear in thedisplay.

^ Close the door.

Starting a program

You can find detailed and importantinformation regarding the Mieledefault programs in the programchart of the supplied ProgrammingManual.

A. Fixed program

To utilize access level "A", fixedprograms must be assigned for access.See the Programming Manual sectionon "System Functions" for details onassigning programs. Once programsare assigned to access level "A" theycan be operated in the followingmanner.

^ Select operating level "A".

^ Check in the display that the programshown is the one required. If severalfixed programs have been madefreely accessible, select the onerequired using the program selector.


B. Free program selection

^ Select operating level "B".

With operating level "B" there are threepossibilities for program selection.

1. Program places 1 - 23 can beselected using the Program selector.

^ Turn the program selector to therequired program.The program name appears in thedisplay.

2. Programs above place 24 can beselected using the 4 and 3 keys.

^ Turn the program selector to 24.

^ Press 4 (scrolls upwards) or 3(scrolls down), until the requiredprogram is shown.

3. The PROGRAM SURVEY menu listsall stored programs. A program can beselected from this menu.

^ Select Program Survey with 1 andconfirm with 6.

^ Select a program using 1 or 2.

^ Press 6 to confirm the selection.

This exits the Program Survey, and theselected program is shown in thedisplay.

After selecting one of the three optionsabove:

^ Press the "Start" 6 button, theprogram proceeds.

For further information on programselection see "Operating Level B" in theProgramming Manual.

C. Automatic mobile unit recognition(AWK)

^ Select operating level "C".

^ Push the coded mobile unit intoplace.

Make sure that no small metallicitems (e.g. keys) stick to themagnetic strip or its underside. Thecoding might be not readable.

^ Close the door.

Important:It is absolutely essential to checkthat the program required for thismobile unit is the one shown in thedisplay, before starting the programby pressing the "Start" button.Otherwise inadequate cleaningcould result.Please make sure, that the placesassigned for programs using theAWK (Automatic mobile unitrecognition) are not changed atrandom.


Document any program and dosagechanges. Cleaning performancemust be validated again ifnecessary.

Program sequenceAfter being started the program willproceed automatically. It is finishedwhen PROGRAM END appears in thedisplay and the background lightingflashes (press any button to switch offthe flashing lights).The flashing lights can be permanentlyswitched off. See "System Functions" inthe Programming Manual.

Detailed information on programsequences is given in the appendixof the Programming Manual.

The display background lightinggoes out automatically afterapproximately 15 mins. To bring itback on again press one of thebuttons.

Do not change the printer paper rolland cartridge during a runningprogram.

Turning off^ Press in and release the ON-OFF, I-0,

button.

^ Turn off the water supply.

Cancelling a program

A program can only be interruptedor cancelled in the operating levelsB or D.

In operating levels B or D

^ Press the "Stop" 7 button.

The program is interrupted.>CANCEL< OR >CONTINUE< appearsin the display.

^ Select >CANCEL< with the 1 button.The cursor > < flashes.


The program is cancelled and the wateris drained. DRAIN WATER appears inthe display.

^ After the water has been drained therequired program can be selectedand restarted.

Interrupting a program

A program can only be interruptedor cancelled in operating levels Bor D.

If the door needs to be opened inextreme cases, e.g. if items are moving:

In operating levels B or D

^ Press the "Stop" 7 button.

The program is interrupted.>CANCEL< OR >CONTINUE< appearsin the display.

^ Open the door.

Important G 7828:

Which door can be opened will dependon what setting has been programmedunder MACHINE FUNCTION / DOORMECH. (see the Programming manual).

The door on the unclean side canalways be opened, no matter whichparameter has been set.

The door on the clean side can only beopened if one of the followingparameters are set:

– INTERLOCK,

– DOOR CLEAN+INTERLOCK,

– DOOR UNCLN.+INT.LOCK.

,Caution! Water and items in themachine may be hot. There is adanger of burning or scalding.

^ Arrange the parts securely, observeany protective measures.

^ Close the door.


The program continues.

Each machine is supplied with a 16’ 5"(5 m) long interface cable for datatransfer between the Profitronic systemand an external report printer or PC.

The interface cable is rolled upinside the machine and must only beconnected by a Miele ServiceTechnician.

The serial interface is RS 232compatible.

Various printers can be used asexternal printers:

– Epson-compatible sign-set

– HP Laserjet

For the interface configurations see"PC/Printer Function" in theProgramming Manual.

A standard null-modem or laplink cablecan be connected.The extension cable to the printer/PCmust not exceed 32’ 9" (10 m).

Please note the following whenconnecting a printer or PC:

– Only use an industry-standard PC orprinter.

– When installing the machine take thedimensions of the printer/PC intoaccount.

The printer settings are described inthe chapter PC/Printer function in theProgramming manual.

The report printer offers the followingprint options:

– Program print

Maintenance and careIt is recommended that periodicalmaintenance for this washer be carriedout by Miele’s Technical ServiceDepartment after 1000 operating hoursor every 6 months.

Maintenance covers the following:

– Electric safety

– Door mechanism and door seal

– Screws and connections in the washcabinet

– Water inlet and drain

– Internal and external dispensingsystems

– Spray arms

– Triple Filter System

– Drain pump and non-return valve

– Steam condenser

– All mobile units, baskets and inserts

If available:

– Drying unit

– Connected printer

A function check is done with thefollowing:

– a program is run as a test

– ensure proper wash temperatures

– ensure a water tight door seal

– all safety relevant measure systems(Display of faults).

Routine checksThe routine checks must be done dailyby the user before using the machine.A checklist is supplied with the washer.

Check the following points:

– the filters in the base of the washcabinet,

– the spray arms in the machine and atthe mobile units and inserts,

– the wash cabinet and the door seal,and

– the mobile units, baskets and inserts.

Cleaning the filters in the washcabinetThe filter combination in the base of thewash cabinet should be inspectedregularly and cleaned if necessary.

,The machine must not be usedwithout all the filters in place.

,Be aware of glass splinters,danger of injury.

Cleaning the fine filter

^ Remove the fine filter and clean ifnecessary.

Cleaning the flat filter

^ Remove the flat filter and clean ifnecessary.

Cleaning the filter system of thecirculation pump

Two filters are situated under the flatfilter (on the right, next to the heaterblock) to protect the circulation pump.

^ Pull the filters up and out of the holderto remove. Clean if necessary.

^ Replace the filter combination in thereverse order.

Cleaning the spray armsThe spray arm jets can get clogged.Check daily and clean if necessary.

^ Use a sharp pointed object to pushparticles into the spray arm jets andrinse thoroughly under running water.

^ Remove the mobile unit.

Labwasher spray arms

^ Loosen the nut with a 60 mm wrenchand pull the spray arm upwards ordownwards respectively.

Mobile unit / insert spray arms

^ Turn the nut with the spray armcounterclockwise and pull the sprayarm downwards.

^ Refit the spray arms after cleaning inthe reverse order.

After replacing the spray armscheck that they rotate freely.

Cleaning the control panel^ Clean the control panel with a damp

cloth or with a glass/plastic cleaner.To disinfect use an approvedcleaning agent.

,Do not use abrasive or allpurpose cleaners! They will damagethe surface.

Cleaning the exterior^ Stainless steel surfaces can be

cleaned using a non-abrasivestainless steel cleaner or withdishsoap and warm water.

^ To help prevent resoiling, aconditioner for stainless steel canalso be used. Apply sparingly andwith even pressure.

,Do not use thinner or ammoniumcleaner. They will damage thesurface.

Cleaning the wash cabinetThe wash cabinet is mostly selfcleaning.

If deposits have built, call Miele for info.

Cleaning the door seal^ To remove soiling clean the door seal

regularly with a damp cloth.

^ Damaged or leaking door sealsshould be replaced by Miele’sTechnical Service Dept.

Mobile units, baskets andinsertsTo ensure the proper function of mobileunits, baskets and inserts, they must bechecked daily. A checklist is suppliedwith the machine.

Check the following points:

– Are the rollers in the proper conditionand are they securely fixed in themobile unit/insert?

– Is the mobile unit connectioncorrectly set and tightly screwed on?

– Are all spray jets, spray sleeves andhose adapters tightly connected withthe mobile unit/insert?

– Are all spray jets, spray sleeves andhose adapters unclogged so that thewash water can flow through?

– Are covers and fasteners tightlyscrewed on the spray sleeves?

If available:

– Do the spray arms rotate freely?

– Are the spray jets clogged? See"Cleaning and Care / Cleaning thespray arms".

– Are the screws in the rail of theAutomatic mobile unit recognitiontightly screwed on?

Report printer (Option)

Replacing the print paperReplace the print paper, 2 ¼" (58 mm)wide, when the red indicator lights inthe report printer.

^ Open and pull down the front panelof the printer.

^ Take the empty roll together with itsspindle from the roll holder, fit thenew roll on the spindle and put itback in place.

^ Cut the paper at an angle and guideit up and over the paper transportroller (slit behind the ribboncartridge). Press the green papertransport button until the paperreemerges above the ribboncartridge (see the illustration on theinside of the front panel).

^ Guide the paper through the slit ofthe front panel. Shut the front panel.

Replacement paper rolls, 2 ¼" (58 mm)wide, outer diameter approx. 2"(50 mm) can be obtained from Miele.

Replacing the ribbon cartridge^ Open and pull down the printers front

panel.

^ Pull the ribbon cartridge (above thepaper roll) forward and out of itsholder and replace it with a new one.The paper must be guided betweenthe ribbon and the cartridge housing.

^ Turn the small wheel for manualribbon transport on the rightclockwise until the ribbon is tight.

^ Cut the paper at an angle and guideit through the slit of the front panel.Shut the front panel.

,Please refer to the installationdiagram supplied with the machine.

Replacement ribbon cartridges can beobtained from Miele.

This machine must be connected tothe water supply in accordance withall national and local plumbingcodes.

1. Cold water connection

One 1/2" (13 mm) cold water supply linewith a standard 3/4" (19 mm) male hosethread faucet is needed. The cold watersupply hose is marked with blue tape.

2. Hot water connection

One 1/2" (13 mm) hot water supply linewith a standard 3/4" male hose threadfaucet is needed. The watertemperature must not exceed 158°F /70°C (recommended: 140°F / 60°C).The hot water supply hose is markedwith red tape.If no hot water line is available, the redmarked hose must be connected to thecold water line.

3. DI water connection

One 1/2" (13 mm) deionized watersupply line with a standard 3/4" (19 mm)male hose thread faucet is needed. Themachine cannot be operatedconventionally with a flow pressure ofless than 10 psi. In this case theinstallation of an optional DI pump isrequired. The DI water supply hose ismarked with green tape.

If the water pressure is below 29 psi,the intake time will increase.

,If the machine will not beconnected to DI water, the cleaningand disinfection programs must bechanged by Miele Technical Service.The intake hose stays at the rear ofthe machine.

DI water connection (pressureless)1.25 - 9 psi (optional)

For connection to 1.25 - 9 psi waterpressure the machine must beconverted if it was not ordered from thefactory as a special model. A feedpump must be installed by Miele'sTechnical Service Dept.
