2 Label Basics

Label basics without all the printer jargon.Ordering labels should not be an intimidating, complicated ordeal. You shouldn’t have to know how labels are made in order to enjoy the benefits from using labels. Therefore, we’ve tried to eliminate all printer speak. Below is the only label printing knowledge you should need.

Orientation: First dimension given is the width of the label as it lies from one side of the roll to the other. The second dimension is the length of the label.

Material: White gloss material will appear slightly shiny but is not good for writing on as it will smudge. White matte and fluorescent materials will not smudge. Weatherproof labels are protected by a clear laminate overlay making them scratch resistant and suitable for outdoor use.

Adhesive: Permanent adhesive is standard on all labels except Bumper Stickers (page 10). These labels come standard with repositionable adhesive.

Colors: Choose from our 16 standard colors or for an additionalfee we can match any custom color you require.

Pinfeed, or Computer Labels are most commonly used with dot matrix printers that require small holes along the side of the label used for feeding the labels through the printer. The standard finished form is a fan-folded stack unless otherwise requested.
