First Sunday of Lent There are times in our lives when, like Jesus, we find ourselves alone and hungry in a wasteland. It is tempting when all is dry rock and rubble to put our faith in things that offer comfort and security. The Scriptures today invite us to put our trust and faith in God, the only one who can save us and give us life. We must reject the temptation to make “gods” of or to place our trust in material goods, power or control and rather to cling to our Lord who is our rock and refuge. Primer Domingo de Cuaresma Hay veces en nuestras vidas en las que, como Jesús, nos encontramos a nosotros mismos solos y hambrientos en un lugar abandonado. Es tentador, cuando todo es piedras y escombro, poner nuestra fe en cosas que ofrecen confort y seguridad. Las Escrituras hoy nos invitan a poner nuestra confianza y fe en Dios, el único que puede salvarnos y darnos vida. Debemos rechazar la tentación de crear "dioses" o de poner nuestra confianza en bienes materiales, en el poder o el control en lugar de aferrarnos al Señor que es nuestra roca y nuestro refugio.
