Course Objectives• Provide engineering students with a working

understanding of the foundation elements of successful planning, operation and control of industries and businesses.

• Prepare them for the work environment with the expertise for effective management in the engineering profession.

Technique (SADT) to analyse three products or services that are produced via jobbing, batch and flow production/operations systems, respectively and/or vice versa (For detail, see Tutorial Sheet 1).

• Bring in Input, Output, Control and Mechanism elements that would apply in different stages of the production process for these products/ services.

• You are asked to design three types of paper planes and produce them as many as possible to maximise profits.

• The project stresses teamwork, creativity, cooperation and coordination, and more importantly, the application of EM concepts and practices in a competitive environment.
