identification of barriers, and recommended improvements for a wide range of local programs and
the Federal and state-level policies, guidance, and requirements that delimit local initiatives.
Watershed assessment and water quality protection. Engineering/scientific assessment of origin,
fate, transport, and effects of contaminants in watersheds; planning-oriented assessment of originating activities and potentially mitigating actions of pollutants in watersheds; critical assessment of barriers to sustainable water resources.
Industrial hazardous waste minimization and pollution prevention. Available and emerging
technologies for waste management, minimization, and prevention. Quantification of pollutant
sources, risk assessment, and decision-making for industrial releases. Critical assessment of
regulations, enforcement, and incentives for hazardous waste reduction.
Source assessment, technology application, and pollution prevention for urban stormwater.
